3. ABSTRACT :
▶ Application of Artificial Intelligence technologies (mainly in the form of
Expert Systems) to power systems has been an active area of
research for about a decade and significant successes have been
achieved. This paper lists the literature related to artificial intelligence
applications to power systems and notes the artificial intelligence
technologies that are becoming important in conjunction with expert
systems.

1.an electrical power system is a network of electrical
components used to supply, transmit and use to electric power.
2.Power system engineering is a subdivision of electrical
engineering deals with the generation, transmission, distribution
and utilization of electrical power and the electrical devices
connected to such systems like generartor, motors, and

▶ AI is a branch of a computer science that is concerned with
the automation of intelligent behavior
▶ In other words AI is the science of automating intelligent
behaviours currently achivable by humans only

used in calculation , diagnosis and learning.

due to extensive and vast system data handling.

considered to be applied in modern power system protection

standardization and formulation of approximate reasoning.

14. PRACTICAL APPLICATION OF AI IN
TRANSMISSION LINE
▶ In any fault occurs in the transmission line ,the fault detector
detects the fault and feeds to the fuzzy system. Only three
line currents are required to implement this technique and the
angular difference between the fault and pre fault current
phasors are used as input to the fuzzy system.these are
generally used for fault diagnosis
▶ Ann and XPSs can used to improve the performance of the
line
