Historical Professional Experience
Coordinator-Clinician-Researcher-Chairman, 05/1994 to 06/2012 Department of Veterans
Affairs September 2009 - June 2012 Responsible for coordination and delivery of psychiatric
emergency services within a large VA emergency department setting. Provided consultation to
emergency room staff on interventions for psychiatric crises, led multidisciplinary teams
consisting of psychiatrists, psychiatry residents and social workers. Provided in vivo education
on the management of crisis situations involving patients, patient family members, staff
members and community members.
June 2006 - September 2009 - Clinical Social Worker
Established outpatient mental health care services for returning combat veterans and their
families. Established and coordinated a combined primary care/mental health care team which
provided a system of continuity integrating psychiatric and primary care medical services, in
order to provide a one-stop approach to comprehensive health care.
May 2002 - June 2006 Community-based Outpatient Clinic Coordinator
Responsible for the development and establishment of a three large community-based clinics to
provide primary care, mental health and specialized medical services. Developed business
plans to fund and operate clinics serving 30,000 veterans. Executed procurement of contract
services and administrated financial oversight for multiple contracts for services totaling 8.2
million dollars per year. Identified and gave incentive awards for continually bringing projects in
on time and under projected budget.
December 1997 - January 2002- Clinical Coordinator for PCT (Post-traumatic Stress
Disorder Clinical Team) Served as the Former Prisoner of War Coordinator
and Chairman of Ex- POW Advisory Committee.
Coordinated hospital- wide effort to deploy mental health professionals to the scene of the World
Trade Center terrorist attacks. Developed first-ever Anger Management Protocol for combat
veterans suffering for PTSD. Served as De-Stress Coach - Providing 24 hour 1:1 services for
newly returning combat marines at Camp Lejeune. Provided a comprehensive range of clinical
services.
May 1994 - November 1997 - Inpatient Psychiatry
Coordinated mental health services for active duty service men and women at Travis AFB. Lead
Clinician in DOD/VA joint venture to establish seamless continuity of care for service men and
women being medically boarded (MEB) due to psychiatric conditions. Provided Critical Stress
Incident Debriefing for AF crisis situations occurring on base and other AF installations.
Facilitated process action teams to assist with the integration of active military services and
veterans administrations services.
3. Mental Heath Technician, 05/1990 to 04/1992 Van Nuys, California
Worked as mental health technician assisting nursing staff providing inpatient psychiatric
services to adolescents and adults. Conducted gang outreach services to local Vocational
Rehabilitation Center servicing a large gang population. Facilitated rap groups with both male
and female gang members and provided crisis assistance for gang members who had lost a
family member due to gang violence or who wanted an alternative to gang life.

Data analysis: Interviews of children and family, wrote reflex files for statistical data analysis
programs, self-esteem coach for children at risk due to parents being divorced or alcoholism.
