1. Various aspects of community food assessment will be discussed. A community food
assessment is a collaborative process that examines a broad-range of food related issues and
resources in order to improve local food systems. A food assessment sets the ground work for
food system change that promotes food security; a situation in which ALL people have access to
food that is safe, nutritious, culturally appropriate, and affordable. We hope to give the ECC
family an education about issues surrounding the food industry.
Benefits of a Community Food Assessment:
• Involves, educates and empowers communities
• Strengthens existing community food programs and resources
• Improves access to healthy, affordable, safe, and culturally appropriate foods, produced
on local farms and ranches
• There will be displays and refreshments available during the seminar. Please plan to be
at this event it will truly be enriching.
