3. Mountainbikingasia.com was conceived in the fall of 1984 when
Tim Obendorf and a small band of adventures cycled from Hong Kong
to Shanghai. Since then we have specialized with bike and hiking tours
around Asia catering to individuals, families or schools.

• Local guides are bilingual English speakers and serve as our local
specialists. Their focus is on sharing cultural insight, environmental
issues, dealing with food and lodging issues.

5. • We maintain our own fleet of bikes in a variety of sizes.
• Vehicles used are inspected regularly
• Medical facilities have been identified in all locations of tours
• Risk Management and Assessments are regularly updated
• Regular scouting trips on proposed routes
• Skill training offered with groups pre trip
• Peanut oil or nuts, MSG and seafood have been requested to be off
all menus.

6. • All riding or hiking is in single file with our own staff and teachers
surrounding the group.

hiking skills

18. Cycling along “Castle Lane” – these “castle” houses are unique to this
part of China. In Chinese they are called “Diao Lou”

village riding safely taking place on non-motor trafficked
paths, greenways & trails.

23. Most of the 1800 or so Diao Lou towers are based upon a mix of
European, American & Middle Eastern inspired architecture.

24. Both rice and peanuts are harvested throughout the summer
months with the locals always grateful of a few extra hands!

25. The fortress style towers were built not just as a show of affluence
but also as safe havens for villagers when bandit attacks were rife.

growing opportunities..
