A Six-Step Writing Process
As high school students you write almost every day whether that is in the form of an essay, research paper or a tweet on the Internet. What if I told
you there was a simpler way to write that allows information to be organized as well as presented better? The writing process consists of six main
steps. These six steps consist of pre–writing, drafting, revising, editing, proofreading and publishing. Some of these steps are more prominent in the
process, but as a whole these steps assist in the creating of a clear and well–written paper. To help demonstrate the writing process in simpler way I will
relate it to something that is well known to most teenagers, that being food. Not just food but also the process of preparing food in specific the process
of creating a stir–fry. In the writing process the first step consists of a pre–writing stage. Pre–writing can be explained in the form of an outline or notes
about the writing assignment you will begin shortly. In congruence with the pre writing stage, creating a stir–fry uses similar procedures. So to start off
the stir–fry process you must first gather your ingredients. These ingredients can consist of a variety of meats to provide protein including chicken,
shrimp and beef. This step is just like in a paper when you gather the info for the bulk of your paper, such as choosing the topic of the paper. By
doing this first step in the writing process as well as the cooking process you prepare yourself a guideline for the

Essay about My Business Idea
My Business Idea
In my coursework I intend to start my own business. I will devise my own business plan which outlines my business proposal and the key aspects,
during this I will need to seek good business advice on the necessary steps I will have to make. As I go through the coursework I will show evidence,
examples and explain how businesses are set up, what types of businesses there are and their similarities, the kind of targets businesses set for
themselves and also the different objectives of different stakeholders. For my business I plan to sell toys and other game products that educate young
children under the age of 11.
Starting up a business is difficult and risky. Anyone setting up needs to consider:

Most people though have to research their product. Businesses also have to decide how the product is to be made.
Finance
=======
No businesses can be set up without finance. Most people who start their own business underestimate the amount of money they will need to set up.
They are often UNCAPITALISED and this causes problems as the business expands. Some businesses have the potential to be highly profitable but
fail because they run out of cash at a crucial early stage in the life of the business. So it is very important to work out how much money is needed to
start the business and to identify where the money will come from.
Identifying the sources of help
===============================
Most new businesses don not survive for more than three years of trading. However, their chance of success is much greater if those setting up the
business have received help from experts before the launch. Many new businesses turn to Business Link or to their local
TEC. They can identify any grants, loans or benefits that are available from government or from bodies like the Prince's Trust. They can also organise
training in setting up small businesses that is so often vital to the survival of the business.

The Writing Process After examining "Shitty First Drafts", by Anne Lamott, and "Write before Writing", by Donald M. Murray, each writing process
has some good prospects. Anne Lamott is a little crazy, but passionate writer that can really surprize you. In Anne Lamott 's article "Shitty First
Drafts", she believes that any writer should write a shitty first draft, and that's how anyone ends up with a better second draft and a "terrific third
draft" .Lamott declares in order to be good, the writer needs to first allow for the words and ideas to come flowing out without restriction. Donald M.
Murray, an English Professor, that has a differentwriting process, wrote an article " Write before Writing" . He explains, Students who are not...show

It's saying you will have time to reread and use the information that pops out to you, and makes sense to keep in your essay, and discover some
writing you never knew you had. " I'd start writing without reining myself in....It was almost just typing, just making my fingers move. And the writing
would be terrible."(Lamott 2) There is no boundaries in your writing , so Lamott is saying to let all your craziness out on that paper.
Students don't always know what they are going to write about right away while writing an article or essay, some people just need to give it time.
Donald M. Murray claims in his article in "Write Before Writing", students should be told of the importance of prewriting. To do so students have to
understand the write before writing. Murray list 4 strategies in writing, there is Resistance, force, rehearsal for writing, and implications for teaching.
"Most writers need time to wait for the ideas to flow into your head for everything to make sense, some people call is procrastination or delay."
(Murray 375) Murray talks about the four pressures that move them forward, by increasing information – when the writer decides on a subject

What I Learned For Myself As A Writer
I learned that when you write a paper you should know who your audience is and their level of knowledge, beginner writer tends to generalize their
audience and that result from being misunderstood or misinterpret by their audience so know your audience is essential to be a good writer, Also I
learned that everything in your paragraph must have a connection to each other, first it is important to have a clear topic sentence follow by 3 good
example that prove the point of the topic sentence and finish by conclusion, a conclusion should is like a summarization of all the things you have said
in your writing.

Donald Murray The Revising Process Of Writing
According to Donald M. Murray, revising a work of writing is an essential procedure a writer goes through. As many other professional writers have
mentioned, "Writing is rewriting," they see each draft as an opportunity to rebuild their work since there's never a feeling of satisfaction. In his essay,
Murray incorporates the experiences of authors Peter F. Drucker, Ray Bradbury, John Ciardi, Eleanor Estes, and others to make an argument on how
important the revising and editing process are when writing for an audience. Murray divides his essay into three main sections which are becoming the
enemy of our first draft, using the seven elements of writing such as the audience and information, and lastly finding the potential and alternatives of

Steps to Writing an Essay
I actually found each of the following tips helpful and each in turn when proofreading my essay:
Start by reevaluating your audience. Read through your essay as if you are not the writer, but a reader. Put yourself in your readers' shoes. Did you
leave anything out? Is there any piece of your essay that does not belong?
I pretended as though I was the reader and I asked myself how useful this would be to the reader and whether the reader understood me. Choosing a
reader was, after all, difficult since each individual is different, but I zoned in on the average classmate. Doing so not only helped me achieve greater
clarity but also made me aware of whether or not I may be unintentionally "stepping on someone's toes" through something I had written.
Identify your thesis and your thesis statement. Write it down on a separate piece of paper. Go through each paragraph in your essay and identify each
main point. Does each point help to support your thesis? Do you make any unnecessary statements?
This is the logos of the argument and I found this strategy useful too. It reminds me of constructing a Lego building, where each block has to be
securely positioned on the other and the whole forming one piece otherwise it is mismatched and the building comes apart.
Having an outline is enormously helpful, if not necessary. I use the outline to not only construct the essay but, to later, match essay against outline in
order to verify whether the paragraph adheres to outline or

My Personal Strengths and Weaknesses Essay
I believe that life is a learning experience and being able to recognize our own strengths and weaknesses can help us become better individuals in
anything we choose to do, whether it is positive abilities and skills that can help achieve our goals or negative personal areas that need improvement.
Knowing yourself and what you can do, can help you recognize and overcome your weaknesses. One of my greatest strengths at work that I have
recognized would have to be my ability to be a well–organized individual. I tend to write what I have to do down on paper and prioritize what is more
important to least important. In doing this, it helps me organize and accomplish my work and meet deadlines that are important. A personal strength

I am certain that because of my strengths, I am good at what I do however; I do have weaknesses that I have to overcome and improve. My
personal weakness at work is lack of leadership. Currently I am in a position in which I do not possess the title of management. As a result, I
basically feel that I do not have to show leadership or take initiative to take on the responsibilities of a manager when in reality, I am not. One of
my weaknesses at home is time management. This is a weakness that I have had to struggle with since my daughter was born. It is hard for me to
try to juggle being a full time single parent, working a full time job and attending school full time. I always feel that there is never enough time to
accomplish my tasks whether it is household chores, work related or assignments for school. Most importantly I have to make sure that I am
readily available for my child at all times. In a Learning team, presentation skills are very important. I would have to say that Presentation Skills
would be one of my personal weaknesses in the Learning team. It is difficult for me at times to stand up in front of a room full of people and
present a project or conduct some sort of meeting. In order to do so, you have to have confidence that what you?re talking about is accurate and the
motivation to actually get up do it. My biggest fear of a presentation would be tripping and falling on my face or

The Scientific Method Essay
The Scientific Method is the standardized procedure that scientists are supposed to follow when conducting experiments, in order to try to construct a
reliable, consistent, and non–arbitrary representation of our surroundings. To follow the Scientific Method is to stick very tightly to a order of
experimentation. First, the scientist must observe the phenomenon of interest. Next, the scientist must propose a hypothesis, or idea in which the
experiments will be based around. Then, through repeated experimentation, the hypothesis can either be proven false or become a theory. If the
hypothesis is proven to be false, the scientist must reformulate his or her ideas and come up with another hypothesis, and the experimentation begins
again. This...show more content...
Furthermore, flies were observed laying eggs where the maggots formed. Thus, he concluded that maggots are the result of flies, not spontaneous
generation. He then called the principles behind his experiment "Metodo Scientifico" or The Scientific Method.
The first cases of what would be considered properly using the Scientific Method can be found earlier, though, back in the studies of Galileo, early
in the 17th century. He first observed that heavy objects gain speed as they fall. He then proposed, or hypothesized, that the rate of falling of massive
objects was proportional to the distance that the object has fallen. Following the Scientific Method, he tested his hypothesis and found it to be false,
since objects falling unequal distances do not fall in the same amount of time, as his hypothesis led to. Since his hypothesis failed, he made a new one,
which proposed that the rate at which an object falls is directly proportional to the time the object has spent falling. This was tested by rolling balls
down an inclined plane and calculating the speed and time values from those observations. Later, these experiments led to the discovery of the
gravitational constant g, and a better understanding of the Scientific Method.
The Method has been used many times since Galileo conducted his experiments, and it has been considered a valid way of conducting experiments since

Essay About My English Class
I can remember seeing that I had to take an English class my first semester of college. I was already overwhelmed with starting college, and having
to write college essays made me get even more nervous. I sat down with my mom and decided to look at the English classes available, and I finally
decided that I had to take an evening class to make it work in my schedule. The first day of English came and now looking back it was not as bad as I
thought. It made me a better writer and be where I am today. It may have taken me some time to get where I am today, but at least I am on the right
track. English Composition helped me realize that I am my own author and have strengths that I did not realize I had. When I first started college I did
not know what to expect with an English class. I liked writing about topics that interested me, but high school did not allow me to do that. I took

before submitting all my essays. I can remember having to write my first essay and I was scared, because I felt like I had to get a good grade. I
started thinking about what tools I could use to help me, and I decided to go to The Learning Center to help with my essay. When I went there they

Reflective Essay: The Progress Of My Writing
The progress of my writing has consisted of overcoming struggles as well as enhancing my strengths. Some in which will include style, organization,
evidence, focused topic, etc. Undoubtedly, there are numerous elements of writing to establish a clear statement regarding the topic discussed.
Elements that I have been focused on and implemented are the introductions that describe an overview of the topic along.
Furthermore, some components that I consider while I'm beginning to write an essay or report is to always look for evidence that the author presents
throughout his argument. It's important to point out their evidence to either support or a rebuttal and thoughts of your own. Overall, I focus on
creating a quick and simple introduction towards the text I am referring to and assemble a thesis as well as a cliffhanger to keep the audience
engaged. Likewise, I also include is transitions to form my claims and ideas be associated with each other.
In addition, the organization is also something that I have improved on to have a concrete order to cite a quote, the perspective of the author's claim,
and show evidence or support. When using I need to keep a reminder, that it's best if transitions are used for topic sentences and wrapping up the
evidence given previously to close out the last paragraph sentence. In...show more content...

the punctuation since I'm struggling to generate a clear argument. A common mistake I tend to do is trying to implement that it's my own point of view

Describe Yourself As A Writer
When I was young, I always knew that college is important to the major that you choose. When I see my aunt, I ask many questions about college and
how it is like. I thought it would be challenging and stressful. Then it was stressful because I want to improve my writing. When I see myself as a
writer, I think about the process, then I consider the improvements I need to make, and lastly the strengths I have.
First, I think about the writing process. When the teacher or professor give me an essay, I start right away. I start right away because I don't want my
work to be late and I have other assignment to do for other classes. Once I read the prompt, I start my outline to know what to write in my essay. I just
think about what I know and don't know, then put it onto paper. For the outline, I will do sentences or sometimes words only. It depends on the topic
or essay I write. I find the outline is a helpful way to get started.

How to Write a Song Essay
"How to Write a Song" by Allyson Jones Think back to the last time you heard your favorite song. You plant your headphones on, close your eyes,
and completely immerse yourself in the music. You hang on to every word and every note, enchanted by the passionate vocals and addictive melodies.
But have you ever wondered what really goes into making a song? Every Songwriter uses different methods to compose a song. In fact, if you were to
type "how to write a song" in a Google search bar, you would get about 685 million results! When it comes to songwriting, the possibilities are endless.

Inspiration can strike at any time, so always be prepared to document your idea. This is where the recording device comes into play. The Inspiration
usually comes in the form of a melody. When a melody hits you, its important to record it as soon as possible. There's nothing worse than coming
up with a great melody while sitting on a train, or driving in rush hour traffic, and having no way to document it, so be prepared! Don't be afraid to
hum the melody into your recording device, or sing it in gibberish. At this point, words are not important. Next, you need to build upon the melody.
Decide what sort of vibe this melody portrays, and stick to it! Is it sad, happy, angry? Then use your instrument of choice, a guitar in my case, to
make a sample melody for the song. I use the words "sample melody" because It will be subject to change, depending on the lyrics and structure of
the song. You'll need that pen and paper for this next step. The next step, and by far the most important, is to write the lyrics. Lyrics can make or break
a song. Before writing the lyrics, it is important to ask questions: What are you trying to get across to the listener? What is the atmosphere of the
song? Are you telling a story? Once you've answered these questions, you can develop the theme of your song. You also have to consider the structure.
There are generally 4 components to a song: the verse, pre–chorus, chorus, and bridge. The opening line should grab the listener's

Reflection On My English 101 Experience
Reflecting on My English 101 Experience I used to consider writing as tumble words from your mind, write, read it through, fix minor mistakes, and
done. However, you rarely get successful. The truth is many students, including myself, struggle with starting to write a word, or getting stuck in the
middle without knowing the main point of the writing. After completing English 101, I can explain the writing process, evaluate the strengths of my
essay, and identify my weaknesses. Throughout English 101, I learned that the following the writing process was imperative. Before taking this class, I
use to always skip the pre–writing step considering that it is just an easy and unnecessary step. Consequently, I struggled to figure how to start writing,
and most importantly I struggled to figure out the main point while writing the draft. And then I finish the first draft close to the deadline that I do not
have time to read it not to mention revising. It was after I started this class that learned that pre–writing is vital, and requires time and attention as it
holds the base of the whole writing. My professor used different analogies such as blueprint for building and map for navigation to explain the
importance. It really speeded up my writing after I started to utilize it. I have learned outlining before, but part of the pre–writing that I was fortunate
enough to learning in English 101 is the writing triangle. Even before outlining, the topic, purpose, and audience of the

The Writing Process Essay
The Writing Process
Writing a paper on the writing process is pretty hard. The writing process is different from one person to another. You come across questions like,
'What exactly is the writing process?'; and 'Must you follow one persons writing process if yours is different?'; This is where I came across the
answer to my questions, write however you wish to write. If one person likes free write first and another person likes to write a draft first, let them do
how they please.
The writing process is something that you figure out yourself as you go through school. I personally think that is why they make us take English for so
many years. Through the years, I found that some teachers forced you to write certain ways. I believe that...show more content...
I don't agree with him. The only way for someone to improve his or her writing is if a peer reads over it and explains what could be done to improve it.
In The Maker's Eye: Revising Your Own Manuscript, Murray says, 'Writers must learn to be their own worst enemy'; (Murray 87). He is trying to
say that when it comes to editing, you must be able to accept criticism from others and be suspicious of it. Just because they say that you should
rearrange that paragraph doesn't necessarily mean you have to. The way you wrote the paragraph could be in your own voice.
Your papers should be filled with your voice. Voice is what makes your writing personal. But your voice could be different depending on what you
write about. I would put a lot more of my feelings in a paper about food, than a paper about how the polar ice caps are melting.
Revising and rewriting a paper is a common step in the writing process. Personally, I think your paper would be crap if you skipped these steps but
I'm sure someone has done it before. Every writer has revised and rewritten a paper. Do you think that Shakespeare wrote Romeo and Juliet in one
shot? I don't think so.
In conclusion, writing is up to the writer. If the writer decides to follow the formal writing process, then that's their choice. Nothing should be forced
when it comes to writing. Then the writer does not put out their best work possible. Thank you for reading my

Reading and writing were two things my parents use to always push me to improve and work on more often. They always told me they are the
essentials of everything thing. Even though I disliked both at a young age as I grew older I preferred writing because I can always change the
way I write and write from my point of view, really be creative with it and prove my point. Growing up I always loved writing short stories
especially scary stories. I always was creative with them and even made them realistic. To write an essay I usually have a couple of steps writing an
outline, and the thesis a draft and finally a final draft. The most difficult part about this is writing the thesis because the whole essay revolves the
thesis because it summarizes the whole essay. At the end of some essays, I had to use citations to do that there were many websites that helped me

books that parents should read to their children. Every time my parents read to me, I tried to say the words along with them. As a result, anytime I had

bit more about how I learned to write. I remember that my teacher had a chalk holder that held about four pieces of chalk. Each chalk was evenly

letter over and over again. We wrote our letters so much and so often that, that was when I first started to get a bump on my right middle finger. I
used to hold the pencil so hard because I wanted my letters to be as good and dark as the example letter. I remember the letter that I had the biggest
problem printing was the capital B. It always used to turn out looking weird. The letter that I loved writing was the S's. I think I liked making the

Strengths And Weaknesses Of Academic Writing
Writing is a very helpful skill for most of the people who want to achieve success in their life. Improving your writing skills is very helpful before
entering the university. Students are facing a lot of issues in their university because they are being asked to write academic essays, or scientific

their high school, or by self–learning, are more likely to get high scores in their universities academic essays than those who did not. Those who have
studied academic writing are having a big chance to achieve their goals in their university life because most of the courses in the university requires

My point of weakness is that I always go off topic, and I think most of the students do that in the beginning of their academic papers practices. It is not
easy to stay on topic. However, I have learned some techniques that made me able to stay on topic, and I would like to mention them to students to
avoid making my mistakes. First, students could make an outline before writing their final draft, and submit it. This has helped me so much in
organizing my paper, and making it easy for me follow up with the points that I want to talk about without going off topic. Second, students should have
a strong thesis statement, and restating it in each paragraph. By restating your thesis statement, you are not only making the reader following up with
your points, but you are also making your thesis statement stronger because it has been mentioned in many paragraphs with different examples. Lastly,
students should use transition words in their essay. Transition words helps the reader to progress from one idea to the next. Therefore, students should

The first place you should go is the library, even if this means ordering in books from other libraries. For academics to have their books (and journal
articles) published, they must go through a process called peer–reviewing. During this process, one or more other academics who are experts in the
field will read and assess a book or article to decide if it is of publishable standard. This is why your research will be of the highest quality if you use
books, monographs, textbooks and journal articles written by academics for your research, because the work had to meet academic standards. There is
no such process for publishing on the internet; anyone can write whatever they like on any subject.
Your second stop after books, monographs and textbooks will be journal articles. Some of these will only be available in hardcopy from the library,
but many will be available in their full–text versions through online electronic databases, such as JStore, ProQuest and Ingenta.

A Six-Step Writing Process

  • 1. A Six-Step Writing Process As high school students you write almost every day whether that is in the form of an essay, research paper or a tweet on the Internet. What if I told you there was a simpler way to write that allows information to be organized as well as presented better? The writing process consists of six main steps. These six steps consist of pre–writing, drafting, revising, editing, proofreading and publishing. Some of these steps are more prominent in the process, but as a whole these steps assist in the creating of a clear and well–written paper. To help demonstrate the writing process in simpler way I will relate it to something that is well known to most teenagers, that being food. Not just food but also the process of preparing food in specific the process of creating a stir–fry. In the writing process the first step consists of a pre–writing stage. Pre–writing can be explained in the form of an outline or notes about the writing assignment you will begin shortly. In congruence with the pre writing stage, creating a stir–fry uses similar procedures. So to start off the stir–fry process you must first gather your ingredients. These ingredients can consist of a variety of meats to provide protein including chicken, shrimp and beef. This step is just like in a paper when you gather the info for the bulk of your paper, such as choosing the topic of the paper. By doing this first step in the writing process as well as the cooking process you prepare yourself a guideline for the Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 2. Essay about My Business Idea My Business Idea In my coursework I intend to start my own business. I will devise my own business plan which outlines my business proposal and the key aspects, during this I will need to seek good business advice on the necessary steps I will have to make. As I go through the coursework I will show evidence, examples and explain how businesses are set up, what types of businesses there are and their similarities, the kind of targets businesses set for themselves and also the different objectives of different stakeholders. For my business I plan to sell toys and other game products that educate young children under the age of 11. Starting up a business is difficult and risky. Anyone setting up needs to consider: В·...show more content... Most people though have to research their product. Businesses also have to decide how the product is to be made. Finance ======= No businesses can be set up without finance. Most people who start their own business underestimate the amount of money they will need to set up. They are often UNCAPITALISED and this causes problems as the business expands. Some businesses have the potential to be highly profitable but fail because they run out of cash at a crucial early stage in the life of the business. So it is very important to work out how much money is needed to start the business and to identify where the money will come from. Identifying the sources of help =============================== Most new businesses don not survive for more than three years of trading. However, their chance of success is much greater if those setting up the business have received help from experts before the launch. Many new businesses turn to Business Link or to their local

  • 4. The Writing Process After examining "Shitty First Drafts", by Anne Lamott, and "Write before Writing", by Donald M. Murray, each writing process has some good prospects. Anne Lamott is a little crazy, but passionate writer that can really surprize you. In Anne Lamott 's article "Shitty First Drafts", she believes that any writer should write a shitty first draft, and that's how anyone ends up with a better second draft and a "terrific third draft" .Lamott declares in order to be good, the writer needs to first allow for the words and ideas to come flowing out without restriction. Donald M. Murray, an English Professor, that has a differentwriting process, wrote an article " Write before Writing" . He explains, Students who are not...show more content... It's saying you will have time to reread and use the information that pops out to you, and makes sense to keep in your essay, and discover some writing you never knew you had. " I'd start writing without reining myself in....It was almost just typing, just making my fingers move. And the writing would be terrible."(Lamott 2) There is no boundaries in your writing , so Lamott is saying to let all your craziness out on that paper. Students don't always know what they are going to write about right away while writing an article or essay, some people just need to give it time. Donald M. Murray claims in his article in "Write Before Writing", students should be told of the importance of prewriting. To do so students have to understand the write before writing. Murray list 4 strategies in writing, there is Resistance, force, rehearsal for writing, and implications for teaching. "Most writers need time to wait for the ideas to flow into your head for everything to make sense, some people call is procrastination or delay." (Murray 375) Murray talks about the four pressures that move them forward, by increasing information – when the writer decides on a subject understands the subject they are writing about, increasing Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 5. What I Learned For Myself As A Writer I learned that when you write a paper you should know who your audience is and their level of knowledge, beginner writer tends to generalize their audience and that result from being misunderstood or misinterpret by their audience so know your audience is essential to be a good writer, Also I learned that everything in your paragraph must have a connection to each other, first it is important to have a clear topic sentence follow by 3 good example that prove the point of the topic sentence and finish by conclusion, a conclusion should is like a summarization of all the things you have said in your writing. What I learned for myself as a writer when I don't know where to begin and what to say, by learning the steps and the technique I learned Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 6. Donald Murray The Revising Process Of Writing According to Donald M. Murray, revising a work of writing is an essential procedure a writer goes through. As many other professional writers have mentioned, "Writing is rewriting," they see each draft as an opportunity to rebuild their work since there's never a feeling of satisfaction. In his essay, Murray incorporates the experiences of authors Peter F. Drucker, Ray Bradbury, John Ciardi, Eleanor Estes, and others to make an argument on how important the revising and editing process are when writing for an audience. Murray divides his essay into three main sections which are becoming the enemy of our first draft, using the seven elements of writing such as the audience and information, and lastly finding the potential and alternatives of Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 7. Steps to Writing an Essay I actually found each of the following tips helpful and each in turn when proofreading my essay: Start by reevaluating your audience. Read through your essay as if you are not the writer, but a reader. Put yourself in your readers' shoes. Did you leave anything out? Is there any piece of your essay that does not belong? I pretended as though I was the reader and I asked myself how useful this would be to the reader and whether the reader understood me. Choosing a reader was, after all, difficult since each individual is different, but I zoned in on the average classmate. Doing so not only helped me achieve greater clarity but also made me aware of whether or not I may be unintentionally "stepping on someone's toes" through something I had written. Identify your thesis and your thesis statement. Write it down on a separate piece of paper. Go through each paragraph in your essay and identify each main point. Does each point help to support your thesis? Do you make any unnecessary statements? This is the logos of the argument and I found this strategy useful too. It reminds me of constructing a Lego building, where each block has to be securely positioned on the other and the whole forming one piece otherwise it is mismatched and the building comes apart. Having an outline is enormously helpful, if not necessary. I use the outline to not only construct the essay but, to later, match essay against outline in order to verify whether the paragraph adheres to outline or Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 8. My Personal Strengths and Weaknesses Essay I believe that life is a learning experience and being able to recognize our own strengths and weaknesses can help us become better individuals in anything we choose to do, whether it is positive abilities and skills that can help achieve our goals or negative personal areas that need improvement. Knowing yourself and what you can do, can help you recognize and overcome your weaknesses. One of my greatest strengths at work that I have recognized would have to be my ability to be a well–organized individual. I tend to write what I have to do down on paper and prioritize what is more important to least important. In doing this, it helps me organize and accomplish my work and meet deadlines that are important. A personal strength ...show more content... I am certain that because of my strengths, I am good at what I do however; I do have weaknesses that I have to overcome and improve. My personal weakness at work is lack of leadership. Currently I am in a position in which I do not possess the title of management. As a result, I basically feel that I do not have to show leadership or take initiative to take on the responsibilities of a manager when in reality, I am not. One of my weaknesses at home is time management. This is a weakness that I have had to struggle with since my daughter was born. It is hard for me to try to juggle being a full time single parent, working a full time job and attending school full time. I always feel that there is never enough time to accomplish my tasks whether it is household chores, work related or assignments for school. Most importantly I have to make sure that I am readily available for my child at all times. In a Learning team, presentation skills are very important. I would have to say that Presentation Skills would be one of my personal weaknesses in the Learning team. It is difficult for me at times to stand up in front of a room full of people and present a project or conduct some sort of meeting. In order to do so, you have to have confidence that what you?re talking about is accurate and the motivation to actually get up do it. My biggest fear of a presentation would be tripping and falling on my face or Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 9. The Scientific Method Essay The Scientific Method is the standardized procedure that scientists are supposed to follow when conducting experiments, in order to try to construct a reliable, consistent, and non–arbitrary representation of our surroundings. To follow the Scientific Method is to stick very tightly to a order of experimentation. First, the scientist must observe the phenomenon of interest. Next, the scientist must propose a hypothesis, or idea in which the experiments will be based around. Then, through repeated experimentation, the hypothesis can either be proven false or become a theory. If the hypothesis is proven to be false, the scientist must reformulate his or her ideas and come up with another hypothesis, and the experimentation begins again. This...show more content... Furthermore, flies were observed laying eggs where the maggots formed. Thus, he concluded that maggots are the result of flies, not spontaneous generation. He then called the principles behind his experiment "Metodo Scientifico" or The Scientific Method. The first cases of what would be considered properly using the Scientific Method can be found earlier, though, back in the studies of Galileo, early in the 17th century. He first observed that heavy objects gain speed as they fall. He then proposed, or hypothesized, that the rate of falling of massive objects was proportional to the distance that the object has fallen. Following the Scientific Method, he tested his hypothesis and found it to be false, since objects falling unequal distances do not fall in the same amount of time, as his hypothesis led to. Since his hypothesis failed, he made a new one, which proposed that the rate at which an object falls is directly proportional to the time the object has spent falling. This was tested by rolling balls down an inclined plane and calculating the speed and time values from those observations. Later, these experiments led to the discovery of the gravitational constant g, and a better understanding of the Scientific Method. The Method has been used many times since Galileo conducted his experiments, and it has been considered a valid way of conducting experiments since Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 10. Essay About My English Class I can remember seeing that I had to take an English class my first semester of college. I was already overwhelmed with starting college, and having to write college essays made me get even more nervous. I sat down with my mom and decided to look at the English classes available, and I finally decided that I had to take an evening class to make it work in my schedule. The first day of English came and now looking back it was not as bad as I thought. It made me a better writer and be where I am today. It may have taken me some time to get where I am today, but at least I am on the right track. English Composition helped me realize that I am my own author and have strengths that I did not realize I had. When I first started college I did not know what to expect with an English class. I liked writing about topics that interested me, but high school did not allow me to do that. I took American History and we would have to write...show more content... I learned many techniques from my professor. He helped me realize that it is okay to have your own opinion as long as you back it up. He showed me that I am an author when I did not think I was. He also told us to read our essays out loud when we proofread, and I always did this technique before submitting all my essays. I can remember having to write my first essay and I was scared, because I felt like I had to get a good grade. I started thinking about what tools I could use to help me, and I decided to go to The Learning Center to help with my essay. When I went there they would make edits to my essay and then explain what I should change. The tutor noticed I used multiple choppy sentences and commas in spots there should not be. Sometimes I would even go twice to make sure I did not miss any minor mistakes. Going there helped me feel more confident as a writer and I learned from my mistakes. I had many helpful techniques from multiple people that shaped me into the writer I am Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 11. Reflective Essay: The Progress Of My Writing The progress of my writing has consisted of overcoming struggles as well as enhancing my strengths. Some in which will include style, organization, evidence, focused topic, etc. Undoubtedly, there are numerous elements of writing to establish a clear statement regarding the topic discussed. Elements that I have been focused on and implemented are the introductions that describe an overview of the topic along. Furthermore, some components that I consider while I'm beginning to write an essay or report is to always look for evidence that the author presents throughout his argument. It's important to point out their evidence to either support or a rebuttal and thoughts of your own. Overall, I focus on creating a quick and simple introduction towards the text I am referring to and assemble a thesis as well as a cliffhanger to keep the audience engaged. Likewise, I also include is transitions to form my claims and ideas be associated with each other. In addition, the organization is also something that I have improved on to have a concrete order to cite a quote, the perspective of the author's claim, and show evidence or support. When using I need to keep a reminder, that it's best if transitions are used for topic sentences and wrapping up the evidence given previously to close out the last paragraph sentence. Ultimately, I lack of sentence structure because I have an idea of what is needed to talk about, but I can't properly put it in a clear way for it to relate back to the text. Therefore, I don't put much attention to the punctuation since I'm struggling to generate a clear argument. A common mistake I tend to do is trying to implement that it's my own point of view or perspective, going off of the quote. When I see my aunt, I ask many questions about college and how it is like. I thought it would be challenging and stressful. Then it was stressful because I want to improve my writing. When I see myself as a writer, I think about the process, then I consider the improvements I need to make, and lastly the strengths I have. First, I think about the writing process. When the teacher or professor give me an essay, I start right away. I start right away because I don't want my work to be late and I have other assignment to do for other classes. Once I read the prompt, I start my outline to know what to write in my essay. I just think about what I know and don't know, then put it onto paper. For the outline, I will do sentences or sometimes words only. It depends on the topic or essay I write. I find the outline is a helpful way to get started. After the outline, I start researching the topic. I use the internet for the research. I use it because it is helpful. It is helpful because I take examples of how to start. • 13. How to Write a Song Essay "How to Write a Song" by Allyson Jones Think back to the last time you heard your favorite song. You plant your headphones on, close your eyes, and completely immerse yourself in the music. You hang on to every word and every note, enchanted by the passionate vocals and addictive melodies. But have you ever wondered what really goes into making a song? Every Songwriter uses different methods to compose a song. In fact, if you were to type "how to write a song" in a Google search bar, you would get about 685 million results! When it comes to songwriting, the possibilities are endless. After years of trial and error, I've come up with a simple, four step process on how to write a song. This process strikes a perfect balance between ...show more content... Inspiration can strike at any time, so always be prepared to document your idea. This is where the recording device comes into play. The Inspiration usually comes in the form of a melody. When a melody hits you, its important to record it as soon as possible. There's nothing worse than coming up with a great melody while sitting on a train, or driving in rush hour traffic, and having no way to document it, so be prepared! Don't be afraid to hum the melody into your recording device, or sing it in gibberish. At this point, words are not important. Next, you need to build upon the melody. Decide what sort of vibe this melody portrays, and stick to it! Is it sad, happy, angry? Then use your instrument of choice, a guitar in my case, to make a sample melody for the song. I use the words "sample melody" because It will be subject to change, depending on the lyrics and structure of the song. You'll need that pen and paper for this next step. The next step, and by far the most important, is to write the lyrics. Lyrics can make or break a song. Before writing the lyrics, it is important to ask questions: What are you trying to get across to the listener? What is the atmosphere of the song? Are you telling a story? Once you've answered these questions, you can develop the theme of your song. You also have to consider the structure. There are generally 4 components to a song: the verse, pre–chorus, chorus, and bridge. The opening line should grab the listener's Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 14. Reflection On My English 101 Experience Reflecting on My English 101 Experience I used to consider writing as tumble words from your mind, write, read it through, fix minor mistakes, and done. However, you rarely get successful. The truth is many students, including myself, struggle with starting to write a word, or getting stuck in the middle without knowing the main point of the writing. After completing English 101, I can explain the writing process, evaluate the strengths of my essay, and identify my weaknesses. Throughout English 101, I learned that the following the writing process was imperative. Before taking this class, I use to always skip the pre–writing step considering that it is just an easy and unnecessary step. Consequently, I struggled to figure how to start writing, and most importantly I struggled to figure out the main point while writing the draft. And then I finish the first draft close to the deadline that I do not have time to read it not to mention revising. It was after I started this class that learned that pre–writing is vital, and requires time and attention as it holds the base of the whole writing. My professor used different analogies such as blueprint for building and map for navigation to explain the importance. It really speeded up my writing after I started to utilize it. I have learned outlining before, but part of the pre–writing that I was fortunate enough to learning in English 101 is the writing triangle. Even before outlining, the topic, purpose, and audience of the Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 15. The Writing Process Essay The Writing Process Writing a paper on the writing process is pretty hard. The writing process is different from one person to another. You come across questions like, 'What exactly is the writing process?'; and 'Must you follow one persons writing process if yours is different?'; This is where I came across the answer to my questions, write however you wish to write. If one person likes free write first and another person likes to write a draft first, let them do how they please. The writing process is something that you figure out yourself as you go through school. I personally think that is why they make us take English for so many years. He is trying to say that when it comes to editing, you must be able to accept criticism from others and be suspicious of it. Just because they say that you should rearrange that paragraph doesn't necessarily mean you have to. The way you wrote the paragraph could be in your own voice. Your papers should be filled with your voice. Voice is what makes your writing personal. But your voice could be different depending on what you write about. I would put a lot more of my feelings in a paper about food, than a paper about how the polar ice caps are melting. Revising and rewriting a paper is a common step in the writing process. Personally, I think your paper would be crap if you skipped these steps but I'm sure someone has done it before. Every writer has revised and rewritten a paper. Do you think that Shakespeare wrote Romeo and Juliet in one shot? I don't think so. In conclusion, writing is up to the writer. If the writer decides to follow the formal writing process, then that's their choice. Nothing should be forced when it comes to writing. Then the writer does not put out their best work possible. Throughout my writing experience or process I have struggled with writing especially using details or really expressing myself my work. In this course Facts & Fiction: Portraits in World Art I expect to gain more knowledge on how to write a perfect essay, story, letter, and assignment. I expect to learn new genres and rhetorical situations. I also think my writing will improve academically and I will develop my skills in writing. Also taking my writing to a different point of view, level, and writing something different rather than the usual. I look forward to getting feedback from my peers and learning their thoughts on my writing and how they can help me improve. Reading and writing were two things my parents use to always push me to improve and work on more often. They always told me they are the essentials of everything thing. Even though I disliked both at a young age as I grew older I preferred writing because I can always change the way I write and write from my point of view, really be creative with it and prove my point. Growing up I always loved writing short stories especially scary stories. I always was creative with them and even made them realistic. To write an essay I usually have a couple of steps writing an outline, and the thesis a draft and finally a final draft. The most difficult part about this is writing the thesis because the whole essay revolves the thesis because it summarizes the whole essay. At the end of some essays, I had to use citations to do that there were many websites that helped me cite sources such as easybib which was a really simple process. So, citing sources was one of the easiest things about writing the essay. Writing to a teacher is way more complex then writing to a fried or a family member. Writing to a teacher is way more complex, I must make sure that everything is on point or it reaches the state of protection. Which is having the right format, a great thesis and really conveying the point of the essay. Writing to a friend or a family member is much easier I usually don't focus on grammatic errors or writing a perfect thesis. Today some of us don't Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 17. How I Learned To Read And Write Essay Ron Padgett, the author of Creative Reading, recalls how he learned to read and write as though these things happened yesterday. Like Padgett, I tried recalling my reading and writing history. When my parents read to me, they enjoyed reading Dr. Suess books, which became popular with the publication of The Cat In The Hat. I was only interested in looking at books with color. When the books were colorful they grabbed my attention quickly. I couldn't wait for my parents to come in my room at night and read to me from The Cat in the Hat. I think that this is one of the popular books that parents should read to their children. I started to read anything I could get my hands on just to earn free pizza. All of the kids loved it! It was a great way to encourage kids to read a little more. Although I may not remember much about learning to read, I do remember a little bit more about how I learned to write. I remember that my teacher had a chalk holder that held about four pieces of chalk. Each chalk was evenly spaced out so she could draw lines on the board to look like writing paper. We learned how to make our letters on the board. We used the big loose –leaf paper with the dotted lines in between the solid lines. She said we needed that kind of paper to make sure we wrote our letters right. There would already be a letter in the top left corner and I would just try my best to make my letters look like that one. We used the whole paper to do just one letter over and over again. We wrote our letters so much and so often that, that was when I first started to get a bump on my right middle finger. I used to hold the pencil so hard because I wanted my letters to be as good and dark as the example letter. I remember the letter that I had the biggest problem printing was the capital B. It always used to turn out looking weird. The letter that I loved writing was the S's. I think I liked making the swirls going Get more content on HelpWriting.net

Improving your writing skills is very helpful before entering the university. Students are facing a lot of issues in their university because they are being asked to write academic essays, or scientific papers, and they did not have the expected skills to write what is being asked from them. On the other hand, those who have studied APA, and MLA in their high school, or by self–learning, are more likely to get high scores in their universities academic essays than those who did not. My point of weakness is that I always go off topic, and I think most of the students do that in the beginning of their academic papers practices. It is not easy to stay on topic. However, I have learned some techniques that made me able to stay on topic, and I would like to mention them to students to avoid making my mistakes. First, students could make an outline before writing their final draft, and submit it. This has helped me so much in organizing my paper, and making it easy for me follow up with the points that I want to talk about without going off topic. Second, students should have a strong thesis statement, and restating it in each paragraph. By restating your thesis statement, you are not only making the reader following up with your points, but you are also making your thesis statement stronger because it has been mentioned in many paragraphs with different examples. Lastly, students should use transition words in their essay. Transition words helps the reader to progress from one idea to the next. Therefore, students should learn how to write academic essays, and take it more seriously because it could improve their Get more content on HelpWriting.net

I have only learned the basics of writing, like putting together sentences, forming paragraphs with sentences, and things like that. Since I have been taking college English, I can tell my writing has improved a lot. In the future, I hope to be able to improve tremendously at writing essays, paragraphs, research papers, documents, and stories so that I have very little to no errors with drafting and final products. The first place you should go is the library, even if this means ordering in books from other libraries. For academics to have their books (and journal articles) published, they must go through a process called peer–reviewing. During this process, one or more other academics who are experts in the field will read and assess a book or article to decide if it is of publishable standard. This is why your research will be of the highest quality if you use books, monographs, textbooks and journal articles written by academics for your research, because the work had to meet academic standards. There is no such process for publishing on the internet; anyone can write whatever they like on any subject. Your second stop after books, monographs and textbooks will be journal articles. Some of these will only be available in hardcopy from the library, but many will be available in their full–text versions through online electronic databases, such as JStore, ProQuest and Ingenta. 4.
