2. STILL NOT EQUAL
• I have known such exceptional women, who fought against inequality and
exemplified how a woman can be equal and but different than men. So much need
to be done to break the stereotypes and ensure that our girls can be all that they
want to be without discrimination.
• But women face discrimination in salary and workplace advancement.
• In sexual harassment and assault.
• In stereotypes that discount the hard work and valuable contributions women give
to the world.
• In treatment by law enforcement
3. UNTESTED RAPE KITS
I know that so many girls are exposed to sexual discrimination. They think that there is
nothing that they can do.
Many are sexually assaulted but don’t report the incident to police.
Why would they?
There are thousands of untested kits in the property rooms of law enforcement.
Many officers are not trained how to deal with rape and they engage in victim
blaming.
Hospitals often do not have the resources to do rape kits and so refer victims to other
hospitals.
4. WHAT CAN I DO?
I can spread the word in my community.
I am going to make flyers with the info and how can people can help and distribute
them at my school.
One good source of info is the website
End the Backlog at www.endthebacklog.org
I have written to my legislators urging them to take action.
You can do this too.
