Establishing shots of boy in
bedroom moving in bed, no
face is seen. Alarm shows
03:00 boy goes to hit alarm
to turn on radio
Radio turns into him paying
with a sharp cut this is a
POV shot. Post production
this section will be in b&w
with popped color.
We see from the persons point
of view his looking at a girl
‘checking her out’. The
camera shows him following
her. She is lipsyncing to the
song as if she is talking.
The camera slowly tilts down
them back up quickly showing
her reaction. She throws
something at him and we see
his POV go upwards and hit
black.
Instrumental introduction
Verse 1:]
You would not believe your
eyes
If ten million fireflies
Lit up the world as I fell
asleep
Cause they'd fill the open
air
And leave tear drops
everywhere
You'd think me rude but I
would just stand and
Stare
[Hook:]
I'd like to make myself
believe
That planet Earth turns,
slowly
It's hard to say that I'd
rather stay awake when I'm
asleep
Cause everything is never as
it seems
2. 2
Fade through black, back to
color. We see shots of the
boy on the edge of his bed,
with his legs shaking
nervously and the camera
shots will move about to
reflect his anxiety and
nervousness, he paces. On the
word thread he falls back
onto his bed.
The bed becomes a chair and
he is in the shop again. It
is the same effects and POV
as the previous dream. He is
given the girl’s number. He
puts his arm around her, she
gets closer to the camera
(him) and it moves towards
close up of her lips as if a
kiss is planned. She him on
the word sleep
(it will be a point of view
shot in which the camera
spins 360 degrees
transitioning through black
to him waking up)
[Verse 2:]
Cause I'd get a thousand
hugs
From ten thousand lightning
bugs
As they tried to teach me
how to dance
A foxtrot above my head
A sock hop beneath my bed
The disco ball is just
hanging by a thread
[Hook:]
I'd like to make myself
believe
That planet Earth turns,
slowly
It's hard to say that I'd
rather stay awake when I'm
asleep
Cause everything is never as
it seems
(When I fall asleep)
3. 3
We see his feet move to the
‘door’, then open the door
and we see the light open
onto his face.
We see him put his head in
his hands from behind him.
We see more shots of him
moving about in the ‘room’
from above
Close up of boys eyes closing
Boy’s eyes open pov in b&w
again. We see this transition
as if it was our own eyes.
We see the girl again in the
same situation after he gave
her his number.
They go and sit down, she
then puts her hand on his
legs and he is taken aback
(the camera will reflect this
through movement).
She leans in for a kiss and
he closes his eyes as if he
was receiving a kiss.
Fade through black on
‘everything is never as it
[Bridge:]
Leave my door open just a
crack
(Please take me away from
here)
Cause I feel like such an
insomniac
(Please take me away from
here)
Why do I tire of counting
sheep?
m(Please take me away from
here)
When I'm far too tired to
fall asleep
(Ha-ha)
[Verse 3:]
To ten million fireflies
I'm weird cause I hate
goodbyes
I got misty eyes as they
said farewell
But I'll know where several
are
If my dreams get real
bizarre
Cause I saved a few and I
keep them in a jar
[Hook:]
I'd like to make myself
believe
That planet Earth turns,
slowly
It's hard to say that I'd
rather stay awake when I'm
asleep
Cause everything is never as
it seems

seems’ and when the music
gets slower we see a similar
shot to the beginning of the
video.
We finish the music video
with a reverse of the begging
shot. Panning and rotating
towards the artist.
I'd like to make myself
believe
That planet Earth turns,
slowly
It's hard to say that I'd
rather stay awake when I'm
asleep
Because my dreams are
bursting at the seams
