3. Why Glass?
Vibrance and Sustainability
Terrazzo traditionally is made using marble,
granite and quartz chips. With the development
of epoxy terrazzo, it led to a wider use of
aggregates including glass chips.
Terrazzo glass chips is best utilized in either a
epoxy or polyacrylate matrix, and adds vibrance
to create a colorful and eye-catching floor
design. In addition to its range of colors, it is
also a good source of recycled content for
terrazzo designs, as post-industrial glass
products can be crushed and reused.
4. Glass chips range from clear to vibrant colors like
cobalt blue, green, yellow, orange, and red, to dark
colors like black and amber glass. Clear glass has its
advantage as it is a translucent color that will blend
in with the color of the resin of the terrazzo floor.
There are also recycled mirror chips that reflects
from a terrazzo surface. Glass chips provide a wider
selection of colors for terrazzo contractors to offer
their clients that they may not find in traditional
marble chips.

selecting an epoxy terrazzo system
consisting of glass chips. Whether you
are designing a terrazzo floor,
countertop, or stair design, glass chips

to sustainability. Using glass as the
main component of your terrazzo floor
can contribute to U.S. Green Building

two LEED points contributed to use of
recycled contents.

7. Glass aggregate can be used in lieu or
combined with marble chips, and or
other decorative aggregates. When
designing a terrazzo floor, it is even
suggested to combine both glass
chips with marble chips to increase the
strength, durability and lifespan of the
flooring system.
