CTI is preparing for potential Y2K issues by correcting any date-related problems in its software applications, testing its systems, and developing a staffing plan for its support desk over the New Year's weekend. It has also helped clients test their systems using CTI's computers and communicated status updates. CTI feels confident that its preparations have made its systems Y2K compliant, but it has still created a contingency plan in case any issues do arise.

Well, we don't anticipate
such extreme measures
being exercised at CTI
when the clock rolls into
the new millennium, but
we've been making prepa-
rations for the phenomenon
commonly known as "Y2K."
These preparations include
the assessment of how CTi
impacts our clients as well
as how our business is im-
pacted by the outside
world. Examples of these
preparations include;
O Correcting, documenting
and analyzing any CTI
application Y2K issues
encountered;
Communicating Y2K
status updates to clients;
Hosting client Y2K testing
activities;
Scanning the CTI
application with a Y2K
diagnostic tool;
Conducting internal
product testing;
Developing a staffing plan
for CTI's Support Desk
over the millennium
weekend.
Correcting, Documenting
and Analyzing Issues
While the CTi application is
fundamentally Y2K compliant
already, Support has been
focused on ensuring that any
new issues are addressed.
These efforts include making
changes to the CTI system
for cosmetic as well as proc-
essing issues. In an effort to
better inform the customer,
Suppoft has been document-
ing the business impact of all
changes and communicating
those to the customer base.
Communicating Y2K
Status Updates
YzK updates have been
communicated to CTI clients
in several ways. All CTI Y2K
issues have been posted to
Volume II, Issue 1

the web where clients can
monitor their status. This
database contains all out-
standing and resolved is-
sues and can be accessed
via the Support portion of
the CTI website. Many cli-
ents have found this infor-
mation extremely useful as
they plan and document
their own Y2K activities.
As issues are resolved, an
email is generated to the
client notifying them of
resolution.
In addition to CTI issues,
Support has been proac-
tive in communicating IBM
AS/400 Y2K updates. In

As 1999 comes to a close, we want to thank all of you
for your contributions in making this another success-
ful year at CTI. It has been a year of change, but
growth means change. As we've said before when we
first introduced ASP, CTI is'riding the wave,' and we
think it's going to be a great ride, filled with new
challenges and opportunities for all of us,

keting department, Sup-
port contacted all clients in
November and again in De-
cember to communicate the
importance of these up-
dates as well as to explain
the update process. Since
many clients were unaware
of such updates, the infor-
mation was well received!
Hosting Client Testing
Activities
Since 1998, CTI has allowed
its customers to leverage
our AS/400 resources to
perform their CTI Y2K test-
tng. Since customer
AS/400s are supporting a
production environment,
clients are limited in their
ability to change system
dates into the year 2000
and perform the required
testing, As an alternative
to conducting Y2K testing
on a third party AS/400
(which is an expensive al-
ternative), many clients
have chosen to perform
such testing using CTI's
AS/400s.
Because our AS/400s are
internet accessible, clients
have the ability to access
these resources via the
web, Several of our clients
ha.ve chosen to perform
their testing in this manner
whlle some have made the
trip to Dallas to perform the
testing on site at CTI's Four
Forest location. The hosted
clients include: Allegis Re-
alty Investors, Federal Re-
alty Investment Trust, HQ
Global Workplaces,
Macerich Company, Manu-
life Financial, Lend Lease
Australia and TrizecHahn
Corporation.
An additional benefit to CTI
of hosting these testing ac-
tivities is that we can part-
ner with our clients to Y2K
test the CTI system.
Scanning the CTI appli-
cation with Y2K
Diagnostic Tools
As an added precaution,
CTI has contracted with an
external company to scan
the CTI application with a
special software package
designed to identify poten-
tial YZK issues.
Based upon specific criteria,
this diagnostic tool scans
the CTI programming code
to identify programming
scenarios which may not be
Y2K-compliant. The results
of this analysis have been
received and are currently
being reviewed to formulate
an action plan if necessary.
Since substantial testing
has been performed al-
ready, material issues re-
sulting from the analysis
are not anticipated.
Conducting Internal
Product Testing
Because of the nature of
real estate holdings and the
longevity of certain leases,
CTI has been required to
support Y2K dates for quite
some time. In fact, Y2K
compliancy has been a CTI
hallmark and a reason that
many customers have
elected to choose CTI as its
software vendor, As an ad-
ditional measure, CTI has
internally tested its own
products over the past sev-
eral years. These testing
efforts have included the
CTI core application, HGAP,
SSLE as well as Client
Server FR and PO. As a re-
sult of these testing activi-
ties as well as external test-
ing performed by our cus-
tomers, we feel confident
that the CTI system is
ready to advance to the
new millennium,
Developing a Staffing Plan
for CTI'S Support Desk
Over the Millennium
Weekend
Due to heightened aware-
ness of the Y2K bug in the
software industry, many
clients have requested on-
call Support from CTI over
the millennium weekend
(72/3t, 7/t and L/2). In
response to these requests,
Customer Support will be
staffing the Help Desk each
day from 8:00 am to 6:00
pm CST. Once again, we
don't anticipate any sub-
stantial issues. However,
we will be prepared to ad-
dress any issue that may
arise.
To demonstrate CTI's com-
mitment to our customers
and the Y2K issue, our own
CEO and President Ken
Follansbee will be answer-
ing the Sup-
port Line over
the millennium
weekend. No
prank calls
please!
Coordinating Internal
Readiness at CTI
When most of us think of
CTI and YZK, our first
thought is our own soft-
ware. However, the CTI
software is only one piece
of the puzzle. We also
have to be concerned with
our own operations and the
software of other compa-
nies that we use to run our
business. Operational
equipment includes such
items as telephone equip-
ment, voice mail, automatic
call distribution (ACD), of-
fice alarm systems, routers,
switches, servers, laptops,
desktops as well as HVAC
equipment. Third party
software includes items
such as Lotus Notes, Micro-
soft Office, Windows 95 and
Windows NT and any other
software that we use as
part of our daily routine,
You have been receiving
Y2K To Do's from the PC
Support group recently.
Although these may be
perceived as an annoy-
ance, these To Do's are all
part of making sure that
your PCs are Y2K compli-
ant, In the background,
PC Support has also been
busy identifying, docu-
menting, testing and cor-
recting all operational
equipment. A time con-
suming part of this process
is researching each vendor
to determine if their prod-
uct is Y2K compliant and
processing updates when
necessary.
Preparing a Contingency
Plan for CTI Operations
In an effort to thwart Mur-
phy's law, a CTI Y2K con-
tingency plan has been
formulated. This plan
identifies the critical proc-
esses that must occur to
run our business as well as
an action plan to make
sure that these processes
are fully functioning during
this important time. Ac-
cordingly, the plan identi-
fies our key resources and
their contact information
over the millennium week-
end. Please see your de-
partment manager for a
copy of this plan.
As you can see, Y2K is an
issue that CTI takes very
seriously. Although no ac-
tion plan is without flaw,
the right amount of plan-
ning and preparation can
help overcome potential
pitfalls as they relate to
our business. As a result
of these activities at CTI,
we feel confident that
we're prepared!

This year's site, the Hall of State at Fair Park, is a magnificent edi-
fice rich in Texas history. Built by the State of Texas as the center-
piece for the 1936 Centennial, the building is reflective of the era's
art deco. The evening will begin in the Hall of Heroes where we
shall be joined by the likeness of Stephen F. Austin, the "Father of
Texas"; Sam Houston, first president of the Republic; Mirabeau B.
Lamar, the "Father of Public Education; and Thomas Jefferson Rusk,
one of the signers of the Declaration of Independence.
Dinner will follow in the Hall of State where symbolism
abounds from the great gold medallion at the far end of the
Hall to the hand-stenciled designs in the ceiling. Beautiful
columns, mosaics, murals, chandeliers, antique furniture,
and green marble are resplendent throughout the rooms.
The entire building will be open for viewing.
As a showcase to the past, the Hall of State is a wonderful setting
to begin a new and exciting era. We hope that you will enjoy this
very special evening.

In October, Shawn Staley made an impres-
sive finish when she completed the AIDS
Ride within the top 2o/o out of 615 partici-
pants. The grueling 4-day, 350 mile race
'which began in Houston, included 3 nights of
outdoor camping, and finally ended in Dal-
las. Shawn says," I realized camping was
NOT for me". This photo was taken on the
morning of the 3'd day, the longest leg of the
ride (106 miles). In the end, only 47 crossed
the finish line. The bad weather and heavy
rain discouraged many of the riders. Shawn
confessed that at one point she could no
longer feel her legs, but just kept on going!
Obviously, her months of diligent training
paid off, She raised over $2300 for AIDS
research. Congratulations!
