Tech High School will be implementing a Sustained Silent Reading program, DEAR (Drop
Everything and Read), where students will have 20 minutes each day to read a book of their
choice. Students should be prepared each day with their choice reading material beginning
Monday, August 23rd.
WHERE CAN MY CHILD GET BOOKS AND OTHER READING MATERIALS?
School Library
Books can be checked out from the school library, but materials are limited. Please see
the website for details on donating books.
Public Library
Fulton County Library has a large number of Young Adult books that can be checked
out at any time. Students can apply for a library card online, by visiting a branch, or by
picking up an application in the school library.
Discount Bookstore
Acapella Books at 484 C Moreland Ave, NE in Little Five Points sells new and used
books in a variety of genres.
General Retail Store
Barnes and Noble, Borders and Wal-Mart all have books and magazines that appeal to
many readers.
WHERE CAN MY CHILD GET RECOMMENDATIONS FOR BOOKS?
Librarian
The school librarian can work with your child to develop a list of titles that are suited to your
child’s interests.
Online
Amazon.com and LibraryThing.com allow students to browse by genre and offer recommen-
dations based on titles they’ve read and liked.
