Quantitative Analyst (2008-2011)
Namibia Equity Brokers (NEB) Pty Ltd – Windhoek Namibia
Develop and maintain models and products which add value to the Namibian investment community (both institutions and private
clients) to generate deals and thus income for the company. Products and duties which fall under my responsibility include:
 Daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly market notes which give updates and commentary on various market indicators and trading
boards i.e. Namibian Stock Exchanges (NSX), JSE, international indexes, commodities and pertinent regional & global
economic/market news
 The running of NEB’s proprietary Stock SCReening/Ranking Tool (SSCREET). SSCREET’s rankings are distributed on a monthly
basis and include rankings of NSX local and dual listed stocks on an overall, growth, value, predictability, momentum and market
factor basis. SSCREET also serves as the basis for selecting the equity portion of Namibia Equity Broker’s in-house portfolio
 The development and maintenance of various market-cap based indexes for both local (large- and small-cap) and dual listed (small-
, mid-’ and large-cap) stocks. Other indexes currently in development include, Capped, Momentum, Financial Stress and Commodity
(oil and Baltic index based) indexes.
 Providing ongoing support to NEB’s equity research and dealing desks by means of a unique and diverse in-house database of
various equity data related to the Namibian exchange. Data is sourced from a number of entities both locally and abroad. Information
is also made available, on request, for clients and associates.
 I also produced smaller economic reports i.e. Namibian vehicle sales, tourism and private sector credit extension notes.
 The nature of my work, both in terms of content and the fact that quantitative research is relatively new to the market, means that I
regularly have to make face-to-face and telephonic contact with clientele. This involves presentations on new products, existing
product performance and any relevant industry developments. I find this client contact and interaction an invaluable, and extremely
rewarding, aspect of my current responsibilities.
Junior Trainee Quantitative Analyst (2008)

I worked and trained under Nedgroup Securities’ Head of Quantitative Research, Nerina Visser. My initial responsibilities and training
involved a wide scope of exposure to the field of quantitative equity research and analysis. The equity analysis support structures I was
exposed to include INet and the Bloomberg Terminal. A summary of my activities and achievements whilst there includes:
 Learning and applying various practical techniques and processes essential to quantitative research including, database and index
creation and maintenance, stock ranking & screening and equity valuation and analysis techniques
 Assisting in the creation process of various proprietary Nedgroup mid- and small-cap indexes
 Compiling data and statistics which would subsequently form a part of the information used in research and development of
Nedgroup’s Africa indexes (both continental and sub-Saharan)
Data Analyst (2007-2008)
Comair Ltd – Johannesburg, RSA
Collected and analyzed data which was in turn transformed into actionable information that was passed on to relevant business
units at Comair (Kulula.com). Key achievements included:
 Putting in place processes on the company MS SQL Server that directly benefitted data analysis for the Business Development
department that in fact led to discussions regarding my transference to the aforementioned department, just prior to my departure
 Establishing processes and documents which were used consistently by Comair’s Executive Committee (EXCO)

Information is also made available, on request, for clients and associates.  I also produced smaller economic reports i.e. Namibian vehicle sales, tourism and private sector credit extension notes.  The nature of my work, both in terms of content and the fact that quantitative research is relatively new to the market, means that I regularly have to make face-to-face and telephonic contact with clientele. This involves presentations on new products, existing product performance and any relevant industry developments. I find this client contact and interaction an invaluable, and extremely rewarding, aspect of my current responsibilities. Junior Trainee Quantitative Analyst (2008) Nedgroup Securities – Johannesburg, RSA I worked and trained under Nedgroup Securities’ Head of Quantitative Research, Nerina Visser. My initial responsibilities and training involved a wide scope of exposure to the field of quantitative equity research and analysis. The equity analysis support structures I was exposed to include INet and the Bloomberg Terminal. A summary of my activities and achievements whilst there includes:  Learning and applying various practical techniques and processes essential to quantitative research including, database and index creation and maintenance, stock ranking & screening and equity valuation and analysis techniques  Assisting in the creation process of various proprietary Nedgroup mid- and small-cap indexes  Compiling data and statistics which would subsequently form a part of the information used in research and development of Nedgroup’s Africa indexes (both continental and sub-Saharan) Data Analyst (2007-2008) Comair Ltd – Johannesburg, RSA Collected and analyzed data which was in turn transformed into actionable information that was passed on to relevant business units at Comair (Kulula.com). Key achievements included:  Putting in place processes on the company MS SQL Server that directly benefitted data analysis for the Business Development department that in fact led to discussions regarding my transference to the aforementioned department, just prior to my departure  Establishing processes and documents which were used consistently by Comair’s Executive Committee (EXCO) Interests: Reading, watching & playing rugby, bodybuilding and squash.
