India Limited. Before taking charge of Coal India, he was the
CMD of state-owned Singareni Collieries Company.[1]
 Bhattacharya has advocated "clean coal" technology to reduce
harmful environmental impacts,[2] while still seeking to double
coal production.[3]
 He was a 1985 batch IAS officer and graduated
from Presidency University, Kolkata.[4]
