tartups are young companies founded to
develop, market, and build a unique product
or service for their customers.
Startups are rooted in innovation, eliminating
existing product defects or creating entirely
new classes of goods and services, breaking
up established mindsets and businesses for all
industries. For this reason, many startups are
referred to as “disruptive agents” in their industry.
Startup culture is a work environment that
emphasizes creative problem solving, open
communication, and a flat hierarchy.
In organizational culture, core values are usually
carried over to a company’s identity, including its
mission, products, and customer service. In startup
culture, these core values usually reflect the
personality and spirit of the people who worked in
the early days of the company. As new companies
must adapt quickly to domestic and overseas
market pressures to survive, the startup culture
also strengthens the resilience and adaptability of
the company as key virtues.
Workplace values based on startup culture are

companies. The acceleration of business,
accelerated in part by advances in technology,
is making large corporations realize that they
can make tremendous profits by focusing
more on the values of startup culture, including
the value of the individual. In some industries,
the positive trait that comes from adopting a
startup culture is called Kaizen.
A startup is a company whose founders start
around an idea or problem with the potential
for significant business opportunity and
impact. Often, actual development begins
even before you find a meaningful idea or
problem worth solving and build a committed
founding team aligned with a shared vision to
bring that vision to life.
The goal of the initial founder(s) is to establish
a team of co-founders committed to the
skills and capabilities necessary to be able to
validate the initial fit of the problem/solution
and product/market before turning it into a
meaningful company and a self-sufficient
enterprise.
So, in addition to the innovation process itself,
from idea to product and business model that
generate value, startups also need to have a
strong and committed team of founders and
develop together into a real growing company
or organization that captures the value that is
born as a large company.
In our edition of “Top 10 Best Delhi Startups
2021” on the cover story, we have a Young &

technologies.
NFT—Non Fungible Tokens are part of the Blockchain
Technology that works on Ethereum Network and is also
call as ERC 20. Non-fungible tokens are digital assets that
are unique and hence can only have unique ownership.
NFT can be in any form which often represents real-
world objects like music, art, video games, etc. NFT’s
are generally one of their kind or very limited in nature
and exclusive to the owner itself. NFT are non-fungible
in nature unlike Cryptocurrencies, though it is built
on the same platform as Bitcoin or Ethereum (ETH).
There is no general prohibition as of now preventing an
Indian resident from buying or selling NFTs. However,
some ambiguities may arise under the Foreign Exchange
Regulation Act, (FERA) in case of cross-border
transactions.

irtual Currency or Virtual Money is a largely
unregulated and issued digital currency and
is generally controlled by its developers and
used & accepted electronically among the members of
a specific virtual community. In 2014, the European
Banking Authority defined virtual currency as “a
digital representation of value that is not issued by
a central bank or public authority, nor necessarily
linked to a fiat currency, but is accepted by people
physically or legal as a means of payment and can be
transferred, stored or exchanged electronically. ”A
digital currency issued by a central bank is known as a
central bank digital currency.
Cryptocurrency
A cryptocurrency or crypto is a collection of binary
data designed to function as a medium of exchange. The
ownership records of the individual coins are stored in a
ledger, which is a computerized database that uses strong
cryptography to protect transaction records, control the
creation of additional coins, and verify the transfer of
ownership of the coins. Cryptocurrencies are generally fiat
currencies, as they are not supported or convertible into a
commodity. Some cryptographic schemes use validators
to hold the cryptocurrency. In a proof-of-stake model,
owners place their tokens as collateral. In return, they
gain authority over the token in proportion to the amount
they wager. These token bettors generally acquire further

Cryptocurrency does not exist in physical form (like paper
money) and is generally not issued by a central authority.
Cryptocurrencies typically use decentralized control
rather than a central bank digital currency (CBDC). When
a cryptocurrency is minted or created prior to issuance
or issued by a single issuer, it is generally considered to
be centralized. When implemented with decentralized
control, each cryptocurrency works through distributed
ledger technology, usually a blockchain, which serves as a
public financial transaction database.
A cryptocurrency is a tradable digital asset or form of
digital money, built on blockchain technology that only
exists online. Cryptocurrencies use cryptography to
authenticate and secure transactions, hence their name.
There are currently more than a thousand different
cryptocurrencies in the world, and many see them as the
key to a fairer future economy.
Why do we need a law?
I know some people who have been investors in
cryptocurrency for the last year. Some made good profits
out of it by investing at a lower price when the
trend for crypto began in India. Covid19
Pandemic badly impacted the
financial balance that forced us
to search for earning sources
that could provide us with a
penny in our pocket.
India ranks second
globally on investors’ list
of cryptocurrencies and
has shown a dominant
position in displaying
the acceptance of
digital transformation in the country. On the other hand,
the Government of India has no interest in accepting
cryptocurrencies lawfully. There have been rumors
circulating for a long time regarding the complete ban on
crypto trading in India. Well, the government has been
saying this for a long time and even a few responsible
ministers stated that ‘at least, for now, there won’t be any
positive news for crypto-asset holders as it poses a direct
threat to our monetary and fiscal budget’.
Money laundering is the most prominent reason for not
showing trust in it. Of course, the blockchain system is
currently the most secured digital transaction system;
but, it has no centralized authority that could manage the
data being stored in it and protect the integrity of every
sovereign nation.
The concerns are simple: terrorist organizations received
funding from different corners of the world in regular
currency. It is tough or almost impossible to track that
currency’s circulation, but the government’s financial
agencies can somehow locate the transactions being
executed in bank accounts and monitor them under their
formal structure.

headband wearable and a simple mobile application,
Neuphony claims to bring the benefits of neurofeedback

measures one’s brain’s electrical activity, and a mobile

Over the course of several sessions, the technology

COO) is the company’s hustler, with an MSc. Integrated
Circuit Design (NTU, Singapore – TUM, Germany) and
four years of experience as a physical design engineer
following her BTech. Electronics and Communication
Engineering (JIIT, Noida)
Neuphony is dedicated to Ria’s sister, Pankhuri Rastogi,
and is based on a very personal motivation for them.
Within a week of being diagnosed with a rare brain
infection, Pankhuri was admitted to the Stroke ICU.
She died in November 2016, after a six-month battle.
For the entire family, those six months were physically
and mentally demanding. Ria couldn’t comprehend
why she couldn’t talk to her family or move during
that time because she didn’t know what was going on
inside her head.
While earning his master’s degree in Human-Computer
Interfaces, Bhavya Madan (Ria’s fiancé and co-founder)
came up with the idea of a gadget to allow bedridden
patients communicate in December 2018. They chose
to start with the first step toward brain health, which is
mental fitness, after conducting surveys and interviews,
and thus Neuphony was founded.

Ria and Bhavya have a vision to make Pankhtech the
company which revolutionizes the field of brain health.
Their goal is to create a device which helps bedridden
patients communicate with their family and provide a
platform to all researches and developers to create brain
computer interface application.
This road was littered with obstacles.
Ria and Bhavya resided in Germany, where Germans
take at least 2-3 years to bring a product to market; they

do not enter the market as a brand for another 2-3 years.

advancements since our independence from British
colonialism. India opened its economy for the world
in 1991, which led to the entry of many MNCs that
brought advanced technology and products to the
Indian market. The telecommunications industry
was one of the major ones that were still far behind
compared to other industries in India at that time.
Internet service in India began in 1986, which was
initially restricted only to educational and research-
based communities. It was initiated as an Educational
Research Network (ERNET) by the Department of
Electronics (DoE), with funding from the Government
of India and the United Nations Development Program
(UNDP). Later, on 15 August 1995, the first publicly
available internet service in India was launched by the
government-owned Videsh Sanchar Nigam Limited
(VSNL). As it was the initial phase of the commercial
internet roll-out, VSNL had a monopoly in it for a

The Revolution
The government formulated a broadband policy that
defined an always-on internet connection with a
download speed of 256kbps or above. As it didn’t go as per
expectations, the growth of internet connectivity didn’t go
well. This bottleneck was removed after the roll-out of 3G
sim cards, followed by the most revolutionary service in
India, the 4G service.
Today, India ranks at the top position in the cheapest
internet services with almost 55% of the population using
the internet in daily life, to the year 2020. Wireless internet
connection holds a major position since the worldwide
spread of the Chinese virus that gave a major shock to the
world at the beginning of 2020. Later, a complete lockdown
in the nation forced to accept the change, and the number
of internet users rose drastically.
Currently, India has the second-highest number of internet
users in the world. India’s overall net penetration is 61%,
with total subscribers ranging somewhere between 700 -
850 million. The World Economic Forum estimated that
1.1 billion Indians would have access to the internet by
2030, with 80% subscriber base.
The Market
India has made clear statements on the development in
almost every industry. The e-commerce market in India
has skyrocketed in the last few years as the industry has

life and discipline. In the last couple of years, we had
