This document discusses green buildings and their importance. It begins by outlining how buildings impact the environment through their energy usage, materials consumption, and waste generation. It then defines green buildings as structures that more efficiently use resources like energy, water, materials and land compared to standard buildings. Some key points made include: the Indian Green Building Council promotes green building standards and certification in India; the Hyderabad Metro Rail Project employs various green features like regenerative energy systems, rainwater harvesting, and LED lighting; and the advantages of green buildings are lower costs, reduced environmental impact, and expanded markets for green products and services.

5. WHAT IS GREEN BUILDING?
Green Buildings are structures that more efficiently
use valuable resources such as
Energy

7. INDIAN GREEN BRIGADE COUNCIL
Indian Green Building Council was formed in the
year 2001 by Confederation of Indian Industry(CII)
The aim of the council is to bring green building
movement in India to become one of the global
leaders in Green Buildings.
8. IGBC RATING SYSTEM
IGBC has developed Green Building rating
programmes to cover Commercial,Resedential
factory buildings.
Each rating system divided into different levels of
certification.
Certified to recognize Best Practices.
Silver to recognize Outstanding Performance
Gold to recognize National Excellence
Platinum to recognize Global Leadership
9. GREEN BUILDINGS PROJECTS IN INDIA
Rajeev Gandhi International Airport
Hyderabad Metro Rail Project
Suzlon Energy Limited –Pune
Rain tree Hotels-Chennai
Nokia - Gurgaon
ITC Green center-Gurgaon
ABN Amro Bank-Chennai
Doon School- Dehradun
10. UNIQUE FEATURES OF HMR PROJECT
Aesthetic and Eco friendly Metro stations
Spine and Wing Arrangement to reduce tunneling
effect
Maximum Regenerative energy
Minimal erosion of Soil happened During
Construction
The Project is expected to achieve 34% reduction
in water usage over baseline due to its green
selection of low flow water closets, urinals and
faucets.
The Project aims to capture 75% of run-off volumes
from stations and 50% from viaduct and at median
through its Rain water harvesting efforts.
11. UNIQUE FEATURES OF HMR PROJECT
The Project shall be able to reduce 40% reduction
in Lightning Power density over the standard
requirement due to its selection of LED fixtures at
all stations, signages, dimmers/dimmable lights with
dimming schedule in passenger area
and Building Management System and Trains.
17. FUTURE
Currently there are 2204 Green Buildings in the
country including hospitals,hotels,colleges and IT
parks.
India will have one lakh green buildings by 2025.
