4. Previous summits
The UK-Kerala Business Meet was the first of its
kind in the UK for Kerala, involving the government
of Kerala, UK government agencies and business
organisations in the UK and Kerala. This special
event was to enable Kerala to utilise British expertise
and its world-class technology for the
infrastructure, Waste management, Education, Low
cost housing in urban and Villages, Power & Energy
and IT projects coming up in Kerala.The event was
chaired by Mr.Virendra Sharma MP who is the
Chairperson of UK-Kerala Business Forum and was
supported by the Indian High Commission in
London, Dy. High Commission in Chennai and UK
Trade and Industry (UKTI), UK-India Business
Council (UKIBC) and Kerala Chamber of Commerce
and IndustryThe “UK Kerala Business Meet” was
held at House of Parliament, London and hosted by
the UK Kerala Business Forum. The event brought

In conjunction with the Diamond Jubilee celebrations of
the Queen and the London Olympics, the BSICC,
supported by the Mayor of London, UK Trade &
Investment, UK India Business Council and Chaired by
Mr Virendra Sharma MP (Ealing Southall), organised a
UK South India Business Meet at the Houses of the
ParliamentThe UK South India Business Meet was the
first of its kind in the UK for South India, involving the
government and business organisation of Kerala,
Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and few other
guest states from India interacting alongside UK
government agencies, Members of Parliament,
Ministers, political leaders and business
organisations..This event was being chaired by
Mr.Virendra Sharma MP and was supported by the
British Deputy High Commission in Chennai and UK
Trade and Industry (UKTI) and UK-India Business
Council (UKIBC). The Business meet received an
overwhelming response and was attended by more than
110 delegates including executives from more than 60
UK companies.

The British South India Business Meet 2012 was
organised by BSICC at Houses of Parliament to
showcase opportunitities in Tamil Nadu and Kerala.
The Chief guest of the business meet was Mr.Mike
Nithavrianakis, British Deputy High Commissioner,
Chennai, India who presented the opportunities in
Tamil Nadu and Kerala. The audience included
members from Houses of Lords, Houses of
Commons, representatives from UK Trade and
Investment and UK companies who are interested in
South India and businessmen from South India who
are successful in UK.

UK Kerala Business Forum, a partner organisation of
BSICC, organised the UK Kerala Business Meet
2012 at Houses of Parliament. The Business
Meet involved the government, bureaucrats and
businessmen from Kerala, interacting alongside UK
government agencies, Members of Parliament,
Ministers, political leaders, and business
organisations from UK. This event was chaired by
Mr Virendra Sharma MP (Ealing Southall, UK).

8. Previous summits
BSICC facilitated the launch of a UKTNCC so as to
promote and defend the interests of UK companies in
Tamil Nadu and also to the Indian Tamil audiences
and the media. The summit also showcased the
opportunities available for UK companies to business
in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry. The mission of
UKTNCC is to promote trade and investment
between Tamil Nadu and the UK, and to provide a
platform for companies and businessmen who wish
to become part of the Tamil Nadu- U.K trade
community.

BSICC organised the 2nd UK South India Business
Meet on 27th June 2013 at Houses of Parliament,
Westminster, London, chaired by Mr Virendra
Sharma MP, Chairperson of BSICC and supported by
UK Trade and Investment, a UK Government
department . The event was meant to herald
innovative avenues to foster stronger UK-South India
bilateral trade relations. The attendees included
government representatives from South Indian states,
Members of House of Commons, representatives
from UK companies and Indian companies who are
interested in South India and businessmen from
South India who are successful in UK. The business
meet had participation of more than 150 delegates
from around 100 companies, based in United
Kingdom, Middle East and India.

BSICC organised the UK Karnataka Business Meet
2013 at Houses of Parliament, Westminster, London,
which was chaired by Mr Virendra Sharma MP,
Chairperson of BSICC with Chairman of Karnataka
Legislative Council Mr.Shankaramurthy.D.H as the
Chief Guest. Through this Business Meet we were
able to provide insight into the opportunities in
Karnataka and provoke further interest about ways to
expand businesses in Karnataka.

BSICC, in partnership with UKTNCC, organised the
UK Tamil Nadu & Puducherry Business Meet 2014
on 8th May 2014 at Houses of Parliament,
Westminster, London. This business meet was
chaired by Mr Virendra Sharma MP ( Southall, UK).
The audience included representatives from Tamil
Nadu, Puducherry, Members of House of Lords &
House of Commons, representatives from other
Indian states/ other countries and businessmen from
India who are successful in UK. One of the notable
attendees for the business meet was Mr.Bharat Joshi,
British Deputy High Commissioner in Chennai, who
was also the Chief Guest of the day. The event
attracted around 140 delegates was hailed as a huge
success by various dignitaries who attended the meet

Chamber of Commerce & Industry (GCCI) ,
The Madras Chamber of Commerce & Industry
(MCCI) & Cochin Chamber Of Commerce And
Industry (CCCI), organised a business meet " UK
Business into Renewed India" at British Parliament,
London on Tuesday, 17th March.. The business meet
had 18 speakers with UK and South India expertise
who participated in the business meet. The business
meet had about 162 delegates registered to attend the
meet and about 25 delegates travelled from various
South Indian states of Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka,
Kerala, Puducherry, Tamil Nadu & Telangana to
attend meet. The purpose of this meet was to
generate traction with UK M/SMEs to come to
renewed Indian economy with new Government
initiatives and the focus was on Trade / Auto &

Commerce and Telangana NRI Forum organised
a business meet titled "UK Telangana Business Meet"
at British Parliament, London on Thursday, 16th July
so as to showcase business opportunities between
UK and Telangana, a state in the South of India. UK
Telangana Business Meet was the 12th meet of
BSICC "business meet" series, which have been held
at British Parliament over the last few years and these
business meet have so far engaged around 1830
delegates as part of BSICC's mission to promote
trade and investment between UK and India,
specifically South India. The meet was chaired
by Mr Virendra Sharma MP, Patron of British South
India Council of Commerce and a total of 13
speakers shared their expertise during the 3 hour
meet which had about 180 delegates who had
registered to attend the meet.

business meet was the release of the 40 page
supplement "South India- A dream destination for
business" report by three British MPs including

Angela Rayner MP. The report was a joint
publication between British South India Council of
Commerce and The Extraordinary and
Plenipotentiary Diplomatist magazine. The business
