1. President’s Message
By: Stuart Blatt
As the year comes to a close, it has been an honor to serve as your President during 2010 and
move DBA forward into a new chapter of DBA’s history. As an association we have come a long way
in the last 12 months. Your Board of Directors has put in countless hours to shape the vision of DBA
and put into action new opportunities for members. We would not be where we are today without an
amazing support staff of Ryan, Janet, Bruce and AMG that has worked hard to help shape the vision
of DBA. Our lobbyist’s Bob Belair and Kim Phan, our General Counsel Barb Sinsley and our PR rep,
David Rubinger has accomplished some of their most impressive work for DBA during this year.
I am encouraged with the successes we have had during 2010. Soon we will start our strategic
planning to help us set a path to greater participation as both an association and thespokesperson of
our industry. We will continually energize our membership base, mark initiatives and be the envy of
all. Our added goal is to become more efficient as an association. My ideals as your President are
embedded in the belief that, things to be done are achieved by hard work and not by wishing them to
get done. Truly you and I and all of us can make a difference further building DBA and helping each
other to be successful.
Times are tough, and as an association, we are faced with difficult circumstances and choices. Also,
the destiny of our industry is faced with unprecedented challenges. Ibelieve DBA can be the answer
but there is a lot of work to do, and we need your help. The Board of Directors and our staff cannot
do this alone.
We need the support of our members. I urge you to control your future and get involved. This is what
will drive DBA to be successful.
