great asset to any business active in social media. The problem is that Google Plus for business has not been adopted
as widely as other social networks like Facebook and so most people don’t even know some amazing features that
exist!
Some of these features are recent additions but even so, Google Plus for business users should become aware of
them and start leveraging them to their advantage. Here are 6 features that are typically unknown to the average
Google Plus user.
1. Google Plus Has A Built-In Photo Editor
Google Plus recently added the ability to edit photos that you post to the network. Photos can be edited either before,
or after posting them and it comes with a number of built-in filters and editing options.
A big disadvantage to the editor though is that it only works in Google Chrome. For brands and larger businesses who
will no doubt use specialist photo editing software, this is probably a redundant feature. It still enhances the use of
Google Plus for business as it’s a nice touch and allows for quick and easy minor edits before posting.
2. Google Plus Has An Embed Feature
When posting something on Google Plus for business purposes, did you know that you can share the whole post to
your company blog or website? Here’s how to embed a post:
1. While viewing the post in Google Plus, move your cursor over the right corner of a post to reveal a down arrow.
2. Click the arrow to expand the post options and select Embed post.
3. A text box containing some code will appear.
4. Copy the code to your clipboard.

3. Creating A Separate Login For Google Plus Business Pages
By creating a separate login for your Google Plus pages, you will be able to take advantage of third party tools and
applications. It’s worth noting that you won’t be able to receive emails from these accounts though, although again this
might not be desirable when using Google Plus for business anyhow.
Here is how you set up the new login for your page:
1. Place your cursor in the top left corner for the Google Plus main menu.
2. Click Pages.
3. Click Manage this page on the page for which you’d like to set up your username and password.
4. Click Settings in the bar at the top of the page.
5. Scroll down to Third party tools and click Set up a password.
4. Google Plus Supports Keyboard Shortcuts
Google Plus supports a number of keyboard shortcuts to make your day-to-day management easier and to speed up
your experience on the social network. A couple of my favourite shortcuts include:
j -> In the stream, you can click ‘j’ to navigate down to the next item
k -> Navigate up.
@ or + -> Mention someone in a post
Shift + Space -> Scroll up stream.

5. Google Plus Has Ripples

3. The “Ripples” function shows you all the public shares of a post. You can access this feature by simply clicking in the
right corner of a public post.
This can highlight a wealth of data that can impact your Google Plus for business networking activities. If, for instance,
you found that one contact who shared your post created an additional thirty shares within their own network, then it’s
safe to say that that person is influential.
It can be very beneficial when using Google Plus for business to strengthen relationships with similar industry
connections who have powerful networks.
6. Google Plus Shared Circles
When you follow someone on Google Plus, you actually add them to a “Circle”. A circle is basically a name for a group
or segment of people.
You can follow all your customers and add them to a single circle, or follow other industry professionals in a separate
segment. This can be repeated over and over to split your audience into relevant groups and use this to your
advantage when sharing certain messages with certain segments.
This is especially advantageous when using Google Plus for business as you can deliver highly relevant information to
only those it matters to.
Did you also know that you can share your circles with people? Here is how you do this:
1. Place your cursor in the top left corner for the Google+ main menu. Click People.
2. Click Your circles.
3. Select the circle that you’d like to share.
4. Click Actions > Share this circle.
5. (Optional) Enter a comment and choose who you want to share with.
6. Click Share.
Google Plus shared circles allow people to follow everyone in the circle within only a few clicks. This enables new
accounts or businesses to start following particular groups of people very quickly and easily.
No more having to add everyone manually when launching a new account. If you know of certain audiences that are
highly targeted, then starting out using Google Plus for business becomes very manageable and scalable.

While it’s still in it’s infancy, Google Plus is a network that can be extremely useful for increasing your online business
