NCO Financial Group (NCO) is a $600 million A/R management company, located in Horsham, PA. With
offices throughout the US, UK, and Canada is the largest A/R management company in the US. The total
number employees is 15000 +/-.
NCO - In 1994, the then NCO was a family owned A/R management business, and was bought-out by a family
member by the name of Michael Barrist, CEO/President of NCO. His goal was within the next 5 years to
make NCO the largest A/R management company in the US. Within the time period that, I was
associated with NCO there were 15 acquisitions of smaller A/R management companies, and 1 large
acquisition A/R management company located in the UK with offices in Canada. One problem
established itself, and that was the fact that NCO’s internal growth could not and did not keep up with

consolidating responsibilities. Include, among others, items such as the position’s role and level of hierarchy
within the firm, i.e. number of employees supervised, functional areas of authority, committee involvement,

including 65 +/- bank accounts and GL, TB, A/R and JE, and to meet all deadlines while demonstrating
strong analytical and problem-solving skills to achieve corporate objectives.
My other purpose was to prepare NCO’s Cash Dept. for the number of acquisitions be made by creating
an Internal cash flow program through the use of scanning payments, and Excel spreadsheet
application.
B. Personal Evaluation Of Opportunities and Challenges: Discuss your perception of the challenges
and opportunities afforded within this position beginning with your acceptance of the position through your
disassociation with the position. Further elaborate by summarizing the circumstances surrounding your
disassociation with the position or organization.
Although with the increased volume due to the acquisitions all daily audits of all accounting activities,
including 65 +/- bank accounts and GL, TB, A/R and JE, deadlines were met.
An additional task was requested of me to consolidate the bank accounts and change signers on the
current and new bank accounts.
The preparation and completion of the NCO’s Cash Dept. to the Internal cash flow program through the
use of scanning payments, and Excel spreadsheet application.
My disassociation from NCO had more to do with volume than internal growth. I was putting in 14 to
16 hours a day with no internal growth.

D. Evaluation Of Professional Experience: Finally, discuss how your association with this organization
has enhanced your overall professional profile and education. Specifically address issues such as product
knowledge, sharpened management, communication, negotiation, organizational skills, or hands-on experience
in an area of previous inexperience.
A company must show a controlled growth ethic, and have a business and an internal operations plan
established to do so. From 1995 to 1999, NCO’s external growth out pacing it’s internal growth, and it
virtually imploded when it’s stock went from $56/share to $14/share in 2000.
Team work, good communications, and organizational skills over the mergers and acquisitions were the
rule of the day.
