Nutrition Management Services, Inc. (NMSC) is a $35.5 million food and housekeeping service company,
located in Kimberton, PA. NMSC provides such services to 65 +/- hospitals and nursing homes throughout the
Northeast, USA. In 2000, a major client backed out of their contract with NMSC, which cost them $50.0 million
and 120 nursing homes.
Collegeville Inn, Inc. (The Inn) is a subsidiary of NMSC, and is located in Collegeville, PA. The Inn, along with
being the locate buffet, is the training center for NMSC’s cooks and servers. The Inn was a training center, and
was to operate with a loss.
Apple Fresh Co. (Apple) is a subsidiary of the Collegeville Inn, and is located in Collegeville, PA. The Apple
provides pre-cooked/packaged food for the hospitals and nursing homes. For the past five years Apple has been
in the creation stage and was to operate with a profit. The profit from Apple would cover the losses of the Inn.
With NMSC loss of their major contract, and Apple’s inability to generate a profit, NMSC was in the survival
mode, and unable to grow.

In conjunction with the loss of their major contract my duties and responsibilities were to (i) restructure
the Accounting Dept. through employee analysis to ensure their abilities, and time is utilized correctly
by NMSC, (ii) re-negotiate A/P payment schedules from NMSC largest food vendors, (iii) review all
current facility contracts, and (iv) ensure all bill irregularities were corrected prior to billing.
I addition to the above, I managed the daily activities of one A/P clerk, two A/R clerks, one PR clerk,
and one senior accountant to ensure that all corporate and field office accounting procedures are
followed, and schedules are met in a timely manner.

was to keep the Accounting Dept. intact. Joseph Roberts, CEO/Owner was the other challenge.
Although NSMC is a publicly owned company, Joe micro-managed NMSC as if it were privately
owned, which delayed a number of my changes.
