COMMUNICATIONS
SNMP: Internal SNMP Card is standard on all UPS’s to allow UPS management across a LAN
using any of the main network communication protocols - TCP/IP, HTTP and network interface
(SNMP). ViewPower Pro shutdown/monitoring software shall enable the UPS to integrate easily
into medium and large sized networks and provide reliable communications between the UPS and
management systems employed.
Modbus: Internal MODBUS/JBUS Card, Protocol converter also standard and used to monitor the
UPS using the MODBUS/JBUS protocol on RS232 or RS485 serial lines. It shall also manage a
second independent RS232 serial line that can be used to connect to other devices such as the
SNMP.
Relay Interface: Four voltage free relays with no common point is standard, provided through a
sub-D9 connector. Consisting of 4 output signaling relays
a. Battery Discharge (NO or NC)
b. Unit on Bypass
c. Low Battery
d. General alarm
24. COM PORTS STANDARD
Com Port RS-232 & RS-485
In the same connector DB9 there are both ports of communication of the equipment, the RS-232 and
the RS-485, they cannot be simultaneously used.
˙ Both channels are in use for connecting the UPS with any machine or devices that has this standard
bus. The RS-232 consists of the transmission of serial data, so it is possible to send a large amount
of information through a communication cable of just 3 wires.
Communication protocol of the RS-232
The communication protocol used is of MASTER/SLAVE type. The computer or computer
system (MASTER) asks about certain data, and the UPS (SLAVE) answers immediately with
the required data.
Firstly it will be programmed the communication channel of the computer with the same
parameters as the communication channel of the UPS. Then it will be prepared to start the
communication and therefore send the UPS the first question.
Physical structure of the RS-485.
Unlike other serial communication links, this uses only 2 wires (pins 4 and 9 of the female DB9
connector) to perform the dialogue between the systems connected to the network. The
communication is established by sending and receiving signals in differential mode, which
gives the system great immunity to noise and a long reach (approx. 2,635 ft. (800 m).

application solutions for the implementation of a serial RS-232/422/485 interface in Ethernet. Includes CD-ROM with
examples, additional software and user documentation (PDF).
FLP-ViewPower Pro Shutdown and Monitoring Software (Standard on ALL Models)
FLP-REMOTE- PANEL
Remote Alarm/Annunciation Panel – System Normal, UPS Alarm, Shutdown Imminent, Mains Failure, Load on Service
and Inverter Faults indication and 50 ft. cable
32. FIRSTLINE PL BATTERY
The UPS uses a valve-regulated sealed lead acid (VRLA) heavy duty industrial
battery, designed for auxiliary power service in a UPS application. The primary
battery is furnished with impact-resistant plastic cases and housed in a matching
cabinet(s) next to the UPS. The UPS is capable of utilizing Wet Cell & NiCad
batteries.
Protection Against Deep Discharge and Self-Discharge:
The UPS is equipped with a device designed to protect the battery against deep
discharge, depending on discharge conditions, with isolation of the battery by a
circuit breaker. From the monitoring panel you can adjust the battery shutdown
voltage as a function of a discharge coefficient to avoid excessive discharge at less
than the rated output. A second device helps avoid self-discharge of the battery into
the UPS control circuits during an extended shutdown of the UPS (over two hours).
Battery Self-Tests:
1. The battery monitoring system performs the following automatic functions:
• Battery circuit check, programmable 9-99 days.
• Partial discharge test every three months.
33. STANDARD BATTERY
CHARACTERISTICS
Standard Battery
Valve Regulated Lead Acid (VRLA), Sealed Maintenance Free, specifically
designed for high efficient discharge applications. Its characteristics are high
energy density, small footprint and high discharge efficiency. Rated for more than
260 cycles at 100% discharge, in cycle service, up to 10 years in standby service.
6 Cells per unit
12 volts per unit
Battery Voltage: 432 volts DC nominal, 486VDC float.
49. PARALLELING
The UPS has expansion capabilities for up to 4 modules
paralleled for capacity or redundancy as required to support
future growth. The UPS units can be connected in parallel
and shall share the current and load between them.
In a system with several UPS units connected in parallel,
there is a single MASTER unit and the remaining units are
SLAVE units. The UPS units must be the same rating and
the MASTER is chosen on start-up. The MASTER and
SLAVE units can exchange roles. If a unit is being serviced,
e.g. due to an inverter fault, it will automatically be excluded.
The load at this point will be shared between the units that
are still active; if the power in output is excessive for the
remaining UPSs, the system logic will switch all the units,
including the UPS that was excluded, onto the by-pass line.
51. STANDARD MONITORING &
SHUTDOWN SOFTWARE
ViewPower Pro:
Is an advanced UPS management software which is perfect for home users and enterprises. It can monitor and
manage from one to multiple UPSs in a networked environment including LAN, INTERNET and RS485-based
