Senior project: “Modeling and Design of Reactive Distillation Column Using ASPEN Plus”
EXPERIENCE
Final Project – Process Co-op, Indian Institute of Chemical Technology, India (Jan 2014- Jun 2014)
Designed a reactive distillation column for an equilibrium reversible reaction by consolidating the data generated by
simulation and experiments.
Simulated operating conditions using ASPEN in order to analyze the influence of performance factors on the efficiency of the
column.
Process Engineering Intern, Continuous Improvement Cell, Dr.Reddy’s Laboratories Limited, India (May 2013 – Jul 2013)
Designed a separation process for extracting ethyl acetate from a mixture of organic compounds involving azeotropes from an
effluent stream of a manufacturing plant.
Suggested various alternatives for the process and simulated those using ASPEN to arrive at an efficient one.
Engineering Energy Intern, Energy and Fuels Division, Steel Authority of India Limited, Shimoga, India (May 2012 – Jul 2012)
Identified and quantified the major areas of energy loss in a mobile hearth furnace as prescribed by the standards of Bureau of
Energy Efficiency.
Calculated the efficiency of furnace and suggested efficient measures for improvement.
PROJECTS
Non Linear Electrokinetics of Polyelectrolytes (Jan 2015 – Present)
Generating simulations of the nonlinear phenomena for a model DNA molecule at high electric fields.
Results to be validated through fluorescence imaging in microfluidic devices.
Particles Dynamics of Suspension Fluids (Jan 2015 – May2015)
Simulated the particle dynamics in a low Reynolds number flow.
Modeled the chaotic behavior of particles sedimenting simultaneously in a fluid.
Laboratory Oriented Project on Characterization of Hybrid Polypropylene Composites (Aug 2013-Dec 2013)
Synthesis and characterization of hybrid polypropylene composites prepared by compression molding of polypropylene,
coconut coir and mineral fillers.
Performed extensive study on the effects of various mineral fillers on its mechanical and chemical properties.
Computer Oriented Project on Process Design using ASPEN (Jan 2013-May 2013)
Detailed study on significance of various thermodynamic and physical models along with their areas of application.
Designed unit processes for industrial applications with emphasis on optimization of the design parameters.
