1. Characteristics Of Highly Successful People
When we look at people who have achieved big things in life and have made a name for themselves, we wonder: what is it exactly that makes them
so successful? What do they have that we don't? Well, here's a list of 15 traits of highly successful people. Read on and adopt these for yourself so
you can also taste the true feeling of success!
Highly successful people:
1.Have a Competitive Streak â Most successful people have a definite competitive steak. And that makes sense because if you want to be successful,
you need to have the desire to win. That is why people who succeed are also the ones who hate losing and have a competitive drive that sets them apart
from others.
2.Don't Dwell on the Past: Another important trait of successful people is that they don't dwell on their past mistakes. That is because they know that by
wasting their time on things they cannot change, they will simply end up slowing down their progress in the future. What they do instead is that they
learn from their mistakes and move on to their next challenge with the commitment that they would avoid making those mistakes again.
3.Know Their Faults â Successful people are highly selfâcritical. And that is a good thing because it enables them to recognize their weaknesses and
then find ways to overcome those weaknesses to further improve their performance. The need to do better and better is thus a very important trait in

3. Personal Characteristics Essay
There are many personal characteristics that can affect a person as an individual and his professional success, namely openness, ability to learn and
adapt etc. These personal characteristics can sometimes make a person successful and sometimes doesn't. As I spend more and more time as a
professional, I perceive that there are few characteristics that are essential for professional success: namely ambitious, creative and adaptable. These
characteristics come out in many different ways. Have you set your goals? Have you decided the path you have to take to pursue your goal? What
are the sacrifices you can do to achieve your ambition? How much can you think out of the box to resolve a particular issue or bring new idea to the

This characteristic will motivate me to grow better in my future career as well. I believe that few people have a strong inner feeling that pushes them
to think out of the box to identify as issue and find the solution. Personally, I always try to find the most creative solution and do not give up until I get
it. Sometime this energy is contagious on to next. I always search for the missing links and fineâtune my thoughts until I reach a point that works. This
creativity has steadily driven my ambitions through the organization. Today the world is changing so rapidly and the way it has changed in last few
decades, it hasn't changed in last few hundred years. So adaptability has become the need of the hour. I believe that adaptability is the most important
quality of all, particularly if one is in technology industry. There have been times when this adaptability has changed the nomenclature of day and night
but it has also given me rewards at the appropriate times. Adaptability, personally, has created a farâreaching international outlook and I was able to
spend time, living outside my country of origin, working for UK retails giants and this stay not only diversified my work experience but also my
cultural experience. It has improved my exposure to diverse situations with increasing levels of complexity and this exposure has increased my
eagerness for new challenges. It has instigated a feeling in me that there

4. Mike Rose: What Makes A Person Successful?
Education plays a very significant role when it comes to completing the identity that you would want to be in the future. It's a cloth that we wear in
order to make an appeal to everyone we meet on a daily basis. It serves as our identity that will carry your name in any establishment you may go.
Education is considered as a vital component to say that you're a rational being who's capable of competing with the everâwidening and toilsome
challenges along the road as we grow up. It introduces us into different aspects of what we call life in order to hone us and shape us into the best
person that we could become. But what makes a person educated? What makes a person successful? Does education really make one person successful?

schooling. Some great billionaires that I know, ended up leaving schooling to chase for their passion. They invested time for recreation and
exploration in order to know what they really want to be in life. They shaped their mind, condition their mentality so that they would know what path
to take instead of spending so much time finishing a degree and ending up as a professional working for a single business entity, getting paid less than
what you really deserve while being mentally and physically exhausted without enjoying the essence of what we call life. When Cameron Johnson was

believe that. But the traditional path of education wasn't for me." Thus, he left school and gave himself some time to think about life and a few more

Looking back at the past eleven weeks I have grown and learned so much here at Ashford University. I never thought that I would actually
accomplish my educational dreams and be successful in my life, but I definitely have proved, myself wrong. I love knowing that I am doing great
and I really try to do my best in completing my homework on time, with the occasions of a few speed bumps along the way.
I decided to return to school to further my education for many important reasons. I have struggled tremendously in the past with my five children and I

I decided to just go for it and I am so glad I did because I know now that I have overcome that fear and I feel as if I can accomplish anything and
everything. I can also say that I have matured in many ways as a mother, first time college student, and being a single mother of five. My kids had to
adjust to the new routine as well. They did not understand at first but eventually they came around and little by little they gave me the time I needed
to study and do homework. I still have to overcome a few obstacles in order to complete my degree program, just like I had to overcome all the
changes that come with me returning to school.
One of the main obstacles I must achieve here at Ashford University is to listen, learn, and to be obedient in all the discussions and the
assignments asked of me. Last but not least I have to say I have to overcome all negative feelings I get from time to time to complete all my
educational goals. I need to be prepared mentally and physically for anything that is being asked of me from my instructors. I feel that I need to
keep an open mind as well because I know all the feedback from classmates and instructors will be of great help in making me a better person and
learner. There are a few things I must do to overcome all these certain obstacles here in college in order to have a successful completion of my degree.
I will have to keep doing all these helpful strategies that have gotten me this far. For example, using the

What makes a successful person successful and why? How can we evolve these skills if there are any and teach it to other kids? Angela Lee
Duckworth, a Ph.D. psychologist, professor and researcher at the University of Pennsylvania, did studies in Neuroanatomy, brain physiology and
cognitive development. Surprisingly, the studies have shown that it was not a person's IQ, social intelligence, talent, or physical health that drove his
/her academic or professional success. Dr. Duckworth, claims, "It was grit."
According to the Journal of Personality and Social Psychology, grit is "Perseverance and passion for longâterm goals; grit entails working strenuously
toward challenges, maintaining effort and interest over years despite failure, adversity, and plateaus in progress" (Duckworth, Peterson, Matthews, &
Kelly, 2007, p. 1088). Which means people with grit have a longâterm goal that no matter what, despite obstacles and failures they are always
motivated and working hard to achieve their goals. Duckworth also mentioned that in order to build grit in kids first we need to teach them about the
brain development and plasticity which creates a growth mindset in them.
Dr. Duckworth explains in her speech, that growth mindset is, "The belief that the ability to learn is not fixed, that it can be changed with your
effort." This idea was proposed by Carol S. Dweck, a psychologist professor and researcher at Stanford University. Students should adopt a growth
mindset to be gritty,

7. What Makes A Successful Person?
Based on my past experiences and the video clips, my definition of leadership is having the ability to guide a group of different individuals and put
them on the right track by not dictating, but participating to reach that common goal. A person who takes on a leadership role is charismatic and is
open to other people's opinions. When a leader sees a situation unfit, he is not going to bark orders around, but is going to work with the team to
efficiently complete the task. Taking on aleadership role means you don't mind being accountable for whatever may go wrong. You show no fear and
is always one step ahead. You identify you and your team's strengths and weaknesses to best come up with a plan to be successful. Leadership is a role
many people want to obtain but only so many can acquire.
I believe a successful person is created, not born. My counselor, Lyn Warmsley is a great example of a successful person. She possesses qualities
such as patience, adaptability, vision, and honesty. She is a housing liaison but serves as a personal counselor to me and many of my friends. She is

8. Reflective Essay On Personal Success
There is a connection between personal success and the factors that are present in the beginning, during, and those that develop along the way to
guarantee success. Intrinsic motivation, selfâefficacy, time management, and academic preparation are pertinent factors and play an imperative role. To
prevent my motivation from burning out in this program, my program, I perceive it as many minor tasks that involve careful planning, hours of
nurture, and different degrees of time management. Keeping my eyes on the little goals that I will accomplish along the way will lead to the grand
goal: my Master's in English. Reminding myself of past educational accomplishments like when I was a single parent and was borrowing loan after
loan to complete my degrees serves as a daily motivator. A recent preview of my future courses also sparked a fire in my soul and enthusiasm. This
program will also involve stress. Something that I do not always handle well, but avoiding too much on my plate, asking for help from my family,
professors, and seeking the help of the Writing Center Tutors and Library personnel, to name a few, assists in minimizing the stress and prevents me
from losing concentration. Spreading out my reading, assessments, writing assignments into smaller tasks lets me focus on quality. For example, this
selfâassessment report I approached it in segments that involved developing it one paragraph at a time. I spread out the work versus trying to tackle it
all at once.

9. What Makes A Successful Career Essay
The reasons why people succeed in their careers are probably as numerous as the number of successful people. When we begin to think about the
qualities these people possess, it becomes apparent that we can classify or catagorize them into a few specific groups–those who really
enjoy their work, those who are obsessed with their work (they either want to be the 'best'; or have a fear of failure), those who are blessed with
exceptional talent in their field, and those who have planned their work and worked their plan. Perhaps as I describe them, you will identify which
group applies to you.
The first group of people with successful careers I'd like to discuss is those who simply enjoy their work....show more content...
There are any number of explanations for why these people are the way they are and, while I'm no psychologist, I'd like to offer my own personal
observation.
Of the people I've known over the years who fall into this category two basic types exist. One is the person who has to be the 'Best';. It makes no
difference what they are doing; this individual will pour every ounce of their heart and soul into being successful. The other type is essentially no
different than the first one I've described. Primarily the difference lies in their motivation–this person is successful due to a fear of failure.
Although, the driver is different, the means by which they achieve their goal is the same; they pour heart and soul into accomplishing success.
There are others who can attribute success in their career to nothing more than exceptional talent. They have any uncanny ability to perform at a
level unmatched by any one else. The people who fall into this category most often come to mind when we think of careers in sports. This is not to
say that our sports superstars have not devoted a lifetime of work toward being a successful athlete and I would never slight their personal sacrifices
or the hard work they have endured. However, I do believe it safe to say that juke 'm and duke 'm moves like Barry Sanders (former running back for

"Try not to become a man of success, but rather try to become a man of value."

My personal definition would not include "stuff" at all. No one will care (and neither will you) what kind of car your drove or how big your house

Personal success is defined by how content and enjoyable your life is. That is not to say that challenges and disappointments aren't included in this. A
rich, eventful and challenging life doing what you enjoy and positively affecting others seems to me to be just about right. Find a job you love and

Past, present and future are all important to keep in perspective. Looking back and not having regrets is extremely satisfying. Your current situation and
your contentment with it are also very important, and having goals and milestones to work toward in the future keeps you motivated and keeps life
interesting and challenging.
In this age in which we live, success is generally measured by the amount of money you earn, or the amount of wealth or power or number of
promotions you've accumulated. I find that the older I grow, the more I view the people who are most happy and content with their lives as the most
successful. Rich, poor or in between, they've tended to treat life as a journey, not a final destination. They took that trip when they were 25 even
though they really couldn't afford it, they ordered the $55 bottle of wine with their filet because they knew that even though it was expensive it would
enhance the meal so much more than water would. They took a chance on a startâup company, moved to Europe or Asia and experienced things that
most people only dream about. If they managed to grow wealthy from the experience, so much the better. As long as moderation with most things is
practiced, things won't spin out of control.
Bottom line rules for a successful life:
Always try new things.
Listen twice as much as you talk.
Travel as much as you can comfortably afford.
Faith and family always come first â

Q1: How can a person become a successful leader by being humble?
The identification with Christ as his child and the utilization of the Holy Spirit that indwells the believer following salvation is the only conclusive
way we can obtain a semblance of being truly humble while serving and leading others before advancing ourselves. We are subjected to many
weaknesses in this fallen world that prevent us from become completely humble. Our selfish pride can be a stumbling block in being humble. "Pride

Greenleaf believed that man could better his organizational management environment by being a servant leader. While these tenets and traits are
important in serving others first, Greenleaf's model, grounded in a humanistic approach, cannot be achieved effectively through the altruistic attempts
of man. When one leads for personal gain, the result is destruction. In order to maintain such leadership, one is obligated to do whatever it takes to
keep that power. Dr. Khalib Fischer (2017) from Liberty University states that "our striving for recognition can become a subtle idol that takes our
focus off of others and places the focus on our agenda and aspirations." The key challenges of being a servant leader are 1) the need for recognition,
2) letting your career become your idol, and 3) being a workaholic thinking everyone else is not as smart in whatever you are currently doing (Fischer,
2017). The traits that describe a true servantâleader is a Christâcentered, biblical leader that embraces acts of service, welcomes criticism, seeks to
transform themselves, and is not afraid to serve with their hearts while elevating and edifying others (Liberty University, 2017).

Hard work is a key to Success (ESSAY) "Hard work beats talent when talent doesn't work hard" Hard work is the key to success. To succeed in life one

The secret of success, as many people will agree, is hard work. Evidently, successful people are admired in the society. In many instances, they
make headlines in the mainstream media. However, such people are not many in the society. Many people still struggle to achieve their goals in
life. Others give up, all together, when they attempt without success to achieve their goals. Simply, many people are unable or unwilling to engage
in hard work for them to be successful. "To succeed, work hard and never give up and above all cherish a magnificent obsession" Many people give
up when they do not feel like pursuing their goals or when they experience setbacks at the initial stages of a project. For instance, many people trying
to lose weight may not see the results within the first few weeks of rigorous exercise and dieting. At this stage, unsuccessful people will give up. On
the other hand, hardworking people try to find ways of solving some of the setbacksâ instead of giving up. More so, they put in more effort even when
they realize that have slim chances of winning. "Dreams don't work unless you

It is a pity that many people are yet to come to terms with the fact that success is a challenge. This is why many people are unable to manage their
success. Success is a challenge because it is tough and difficult. It also constitutes a challenge because it is demanding, taxing and testing. It is worthy
of note that 'challenge' is not the same as 'problem'. The difference between 'challenge' and 'problem' is attitude. While optimists use 'challenge' to
describe difficult situations, pessimists use 'problem' to describe the same circumstances.
Success constitutes a challenge in two ways: becoming a success and remaining a success. Every individual is confronted by either of these challenges
at every point in time. At every point in time, everyone is either striving to become a success or striving to sustains a success and remain a success.

Successful and Unsuccessful Students Are Not Very Different
Success is a virtue that a majority of students would like to obtain. Success can lead to many great opportunities, and success can build great character
in a person. Unsuccessful people tend to be less optimistic, and they can be harder to get along with. Successful students are dedicated and are always
willing to help others. Unsuccessful students are lethargic, and some unsuccessful students can even be selfish or lonely. Home life can affect a
students outlook on school in many different ways. Successful and unsuccessful students are very different academically, but when they are emerged
together they are not very different at all.
Determination is the number one characteristic of a successful student. Students that care about their grades put forth the effort to do well in all aspects
of their lives. Determined students always put forth their best efforts by, for example, staying on top of tasks that need to be done or studying material
that they do not completely understand. There are many other ways that a successful student shows dedication and determination in both academics
and extracurricular activities. Students can show dedication by supporting and helping their peers with school work. Successful students care about
others, and they will help others prosper in school also. Students that want to do good in life normally wish for others to succeed as well. Successful

said by Vince Lombardi could be easily identified as being quite accurate in a rather idealistic world. However in reality, one must recognize the simple
facts when dealing with success and that at times not even ones strongest will can lead us to it. Instead, one must take into account various factors

Studying skills will help you be more successful as well, there is also to much studying. To much studying can cause stress, and dense learning habits,
also pushing your self to hard may ruin learning skills and cause your self to feel bad, or not as intelligent. Study skills for tests, quizzes, and
exams is very important. Evenly spreading out study time will increase memory of the subjects you learn. Taking frequent breaks will make
studying less stressful. Using flash cards, web sites, computers, or just a pencil and paper are all great ways to study. Having an answer sheet to
refer to, and look over when your done will also help study and learning skills because it can help you see what you did wrong and need to fix. Having
a study group or club before big tests, like exams or diplomas, will help you have more fun with your friends when studying.
Also study at home with adults to help you. Having friends to study with will increase your enjoyment of learning, and learning to learn. Doing
homework right after you get home from school is good because you might still remember what to do and what you need to study. Doing
homework in the morning can make it less likely for you to sleep or enjoy your day. If you enjoy writing or reading a job may be based on writing in a

19. Success is not concrete or easily defined. Success is unique to each individual. The most successful person is not always the one with the biggest house
or nicest car. For one to become successful, they must first decide what success is to them. Success is finding one's passion and pursuing it without
restraint. A successfulperson is one who is the best version of themselves. Success is staying true to oneself, and striving for personal improvement
every day, no matter what it looks like to the rest of the world. In order to be successful, one must find a passion and pursue it wholeâheartedly. These
passions differ from person to person. They may include health care, law enforcement, or child care; however, they may also be writing, art, or a
trade. In order to identify these passions, one must experiment in various fields. I have been fortunate enough to identify one of my passions very
early in life. I discovered that I am passionate about helping people become as successful as they can beâwhatever success may look like to them. To
me, success is becoming a Speech/Language Pathologist and helping children gain confidence and overcome obstacles. However, I have recently
discovered that I am also passionate about volunteering with nonâprofits in my community. The beauty is that the growth never ends; passion is not
restricted by age or ability. Once a passion is identified, a successful person will pursue it endlessly. The motivation behind this must be a "why"
for why one is doing what they are doing. Having a "why" will be the motivation to keep going when things get tough and obstacles make success
seem unachievable. For me, my why is that I know when I reach my career goals I will be able to encourage and inspire other to reach their goals and
become successful as well. This desire is so strong because I have experienced firstâhand how powerful having someone believe in you can be.
Because of my why, I fight through the obstacles in my way. When finances and academic struggles make success seem out of reach, I remember why
I am doing what I am doing, and continue to push through, overcoming them one by one. A successful person will not allow any obstacle to block them
from pursuing their passion. In

Also I'll know I'm successful when I can finally say '' I did it'' and feel good about it knowing that all that hard work and stress payed off. Working at
a job that I'm really passionate about even though it doesn't pay much is success. People tend to study for things that make high income even though
they completely hate it. For example I always wanted to become a homicide detective usually it's hard for a female to become a detective because it's
usually a man's job. Usually detectives don't get payed much but it's not about the money it's about helping others in my community and most
importantly doing what I love.
After I'm successful I'm not going to give up I'm going to keep setting goals for myself more advanced than the ones before and I'm going to strive to
improve myself. Once I'm successful I want to travel and explore the world because that's something I always wanted to do. I am a very adventurous
