INTRODUCTION
Modern technology has brought about momentous changes in different aspects of library
management. Housekeeping operation and users management have been tremendously achieved
through the applications of Internet and library management software's. With the adoption of ICTs in
libraries, efforts to provide various services, such as - access to OPAC, library databases, automated
circulation of library materials are introduced. Hence, the services of ICT have greatly impacted on
each operation of academic library activity as well as giving an opportunity to provide value-added
information services and access to a wide variety of digital-based information resources to its users.
Now-a-days, information technology (IT) is widely used in different sectors; it is also extensively
adopted in the field of library and information services to reduce costs, enhance operational
efficiency, and most importantly to improve service quality and customer experience

LITERATURE SURVEY
A literature review summarizes, interprets and evaluates existing literature or
published material in order to establish current knowledge of a subject. By doing
so it relates to ongoing research and further develops the knowledge in the subject.
The review of literature also helps to gather knowledge required for next steps
including writing of the research report and providing justifications of the
problems or questions related to the research study.

OBJECTIVES
To study the importance of application of emerging
technologies.
To Find out the innovative efforts of library services
To identify how many University in Karnataka integrated emerging
technologies to their libraries and use them effectively to provide
new services to meet their users’ changing information needs.
To find out how applications of Emerging Technologies in University
Libraries under study have significant impact on creating staff
workflow efficiencies.
To find out how applications of Emerging Technologies maximize
access to information among the library users in order to find out a
return on its investment.
To study/explore the barriers faced by the libraries to adopt
Emerging Technologies in University Libraries under this study

Investigate to know the availability of emerging technologies and effective use of
various ICT facilities, library resources and services to the students and faculties
of the University libraries Karnataka.
The findings of the study will contribute immensely in planning and redesigning
the plan of work to improve the overall quality of academic libraries with respect to
application of emerging technologies.
