Is There an Artistic Reason for 3D Films or Just a Money Making Gimmick
1. Is there an artistic reason for 3D or are
they just using it for a money making
gimmick?
2. What is 3D Film?
•
3D Also known as three-dimensional (something that
has width,height and length)
•
Motion picture that enhances the illusion of the Depth
perception of image to the audience with tinted glasses.
•
3D video adds stereoscopic vision, meaning two eyes
provide slightly separate images and closer objects
appear more separated than distant ones.
•
This presents enormous technical problems which is
why there is still no perfect system almost 100 years
since the first 3D movie was made.
3. Successful 3D Films
3D films became more and more successful throughout the 2000s,
culminating in the unprecedented success of 3D presentations of Avatar in
December 2009
Then several other 3D films came out
Toy Story 3 (2010)
Alice in Wonderland (2010)
Up (2009)
Despicable Me (2010)
How To Train Your Dragon (2010)
Tangled (2010)
and more...
All of there’s films are mainly aimed and loved by kids because of artistic
reasons, and they enjoy the illusions.
4. During my research I found out that many film lovers liked 3D films at
the start and didn't mind paying to watch a good 3D film once in a
while, but mainly action and adventurous films like avatar.
But after the great feedback from that film, a lot of films started to be
in 3D Which didn’t give the same effect and they are another way to
gain even more money in the film industry. Viewers mostly
complained about
3D Glasses
Prices
Blurriness
Not much difference
Headaches
and preferred 2D films instead
5. •
I
But increasingly British cinema-goers are preferring for
traditional 2D screenings because they don't feel that
3D represents value for money.
Major cinema groups bill customers of 3D films up to 30
per cent more than those seeing standard films and
often charge an additional £1 for the use of the
specialist glasses.
Is it worth it?
6. My conclusion
My answer to this question would be it started of as an artistic
reason and has lost its purpose and is just another way of
making more money.
Because most 3D films made , don't include much special
effects, which makes the film just like a 2D with one of two
illusions which isn't worth paying extra for.
