I decided to highlight a few different environmental issues that Hawaii is currently facing. Is it the thriving natural paradise that it is generally known for?
2. I did some research and
found 3 contributors
Threatened Coral Reef
Trash Filled Beaches
Flora and Fauna
3. 1. Coral reefs in Hawaii began
degrading about 100 years ago
4. Urban development and
agriculture are the most
significant threats to Hawaiian
coral reefs because of runoff
containing sediments (soil and
silt) and chemicals.
5. Since 1950, 19 new species of macroalgae
have been introduced to Oahu
6. Studies show that these alien algae have
overgrown and killed some coral in Kaneohe
Bay on Oahu's southeast coast.

The rest of the paragraph is as well interesting and goes as follows:
“Unlike the more inaccessible Northwestern Hawaiian Islands, the Main Islands face a host of concerns related to population growth, urbanization and an increase in tourism. Urban development and agriculture are the most significant threats to Hawaiian coral reefs because of runoff containing sediments (soil and silt) and chemicals and nutrients from lawns, farms, golf courses, construction sites, storm drains, cesspools and septic tanks. Sediment runoff is bad because it reduces sunlight penetration and smothers corals. The reef then starves to death because it can't manufacture food from sunlight any longer. Chemical herbicides and pesticides harm not only the coral, but also the animals that live within the reef, while fertilizers and sewage can lead to an overabundance of nutrients in the water and an excessive growth of algae which, in turn, crowds out corals or smothers them by cutting off their sunlight.”

“Alien species such as cats, dogs, rabbits, pigs, and rats affected a number of indigenous species. Hawaii is known as the "extinction capital of the world" with the extinction of nearly half (140) of its historically recorded native bird species.[5]Some of the alien species that are currently affecting Hawaii include cane toads, mongoose, coquí frogs, gall wasps, Mediterranean, Oriental, and melon flies that damage crops, ants that destroy native insects, and bacteria that infect waters.[2][6]”

“A number of plant species are now extinct due to grazing livestock, and aggressive non-indigenous species taking over the land.[2] Almost 40% of the endangered species in the United States are Hawaiian species, while nearly 75% of all U.S. extinctions have occurred in Hawaii.[3]”
