2. Importance of Grades
• A minimum of a C grade in Maths is required
by many employers and college courses.
• A minimum of a C grade in Maths is required
to remain in the Sixth Form.
• A minimum of a B grade in Maths is required
for certain subjects eg Psychology
• A minimum of an A grade in Maths is required
to start an A Level in Maths.
3. Exam Content
• Two papers both 1hour and 45 minutes
- one non-calculator paper
- one paper calculator allowed
• Foundation Tier papers G-C
• Higher Tier papers D-A*
• Papers get progressively more difficult
• Questions with an * next to them require a
sentence at the end of the question.
4. Maths Revision
• Revise for short amounts of time regularly
• Use revision guides etc to make notes/spider
diagrams etc
• Learn key formulae – make use of songs etc
• Practice of exam questions is key
• Make use of mark schemes
5. Help Available
• Revision guides available for £3.
• MyMaths.co.uk (login: balle, password:
protractor).
• MathsWatch (centre ID, username and
password will be given to students).
• Revision after school Wednesday
• Revision during June Half Term
• Revision for invited students during Easter
Holiday
6. Homework
• Students are being given an exam paper every
week to complete for homework.
• The majority of students are completing these
papers regularly, however some students are
not.
• Exam practice is vital to succeed in Maths
GCSE and is the most effective way to revise.
7. Close to the Exam
• The Maths exams are on the 4th and 8th of
June.
• Students must continue to attend
lessons/revision sessions right up to the exam.
