2. STUDIO’S HISTORY Founded in May 1919 by Harry and Jack Cohn and Brandt. Founded as C.B.C Films corporation but changed its name to Columbia Pictures in 1924 and went public in 1926. Released its first feature film August 1922. Was brought by Sony in 1989.

STUDIOS GREAT SUCCESSES Spider Man, The Grudge, The Pink Panther, Cloud With A Chance Of Meatballs, The Karate Kid, Grown Ups, The Smurfs, Peter Pan Spider Man reached number 10 in the Top 100 films of all time (domestic gross) In 2002, Columbia broke the record for the biggest domestic theatrical gross, with a tally of $1.575 billion breaking its previous record of $1.256 billion! This gross was raised by blockbusters such as Spider-Man, Men in Black II and xXx In 2006 Columbia also helped with such blockbusters as: The Da Vinci Code, The Pursuit of Happiness and Casino Royale and reached a record high sum of $1.711 billion.

5. SPIDERMAN Spider-man is a superhero film based on the fictional Marvel Comics. The first film in the franchise was released in 2002. It stars Tobey Macguire as Peter Parker, who realises his spiderlike powers! The first film got a box office of smash of $800million with just a budget of $140million. First film to reach $100 million dollars in its first weekend; the largest opening gross of all time. The first film continued with Spider-Man 2 in 2004 and Spider-Man 3 in 2007; all directed by Sam Raimi.
