Completion of project is an arduous task. Apart from skill and hard work, it needs a right kind of help from the right kind of people who are

The Project undertaken by me during the period of summer training was related to the “TCL Product Deviation Print Report” and needed a

• Tata Cummins Ltd. is a 50-50 joint venture between Tata Motors and Cummins Engine Co., Inc.
Cummins Engine Company Inc. was founded in Columbus, Indiana in 1919 when successful banker/investor W G Irwin supplied the
capital for a local self taught mechanic and inventor Clessie Cummins to begin manufacturing diesel engines. Working out of an old
cereal mill in Columbus, the first engine made by Cummins was a Dutch designed, six horsepower, farm type diesel. By 1925, the
company had begun producing its own design with enough success that operations were relocated to a new larger site where the
Columbus Engine Plant is now located.
Today with 45 manufacturing units in 13 countries, and worldwide distribution, Cummins Engine Company Inc. is a largest
independent manufacturer of diesel engines. The company provides products and services for customers in markets worldwide for
engines, power generation and filtration, including engine components, natural gas engines, filtration systems and information
products and services.
• Tata Motors is the largest manufacturer of commercial vehicles in India. Tata Motors was established in Jamshedpur in 1945, with the
agenda of manufacturing steam locomotives. In 1954, the company expanded into automobile manufacturing, through collaboration
with Daimler-Benz of Germany. By the end of the collaboration in 1969, Tata Motors had fully developed the capacity of designing
and manufacturing Medium Commercial Vehicles– taking the first step towards indigenization.
• Tata Motors manufactures an entire range of Heavy, Medium and Light Commercial Vehicles, Multi-Utility Vehicles.. Tata Motors has 4
plants: Jamshedpur, Pune, Lucknow The Tata Motors Plant at Jamshedpur Plant commenced production on June 1, 1945.

6. My Project is based on ‘Report on Product Deviation’ which is made using sql
and Pl/sql language. The title of the project is ‘TCL Product Deviation Status
Wise Detail Report’. The objective of the project was to get the report in the
excel format according to the parameter entered by the user.

7. Tools Used:
ORACLE:
Oracle gives Security and Control. Oracle has several features that ensure the integrity of database. It has the
rollback and roll forward facilities to recover from disaster. It also provides functions from securing data.
Grant and revoke commands limits access to information down to the row and column level. Oracle’s unique
clustering techniques for storing data on disk are other performance gains. There are functions to control
complex database installation like the active data dictionary, auditing commands and error detection and
tracking. Finally it has a kernel in extended memory so that the main memory is available for other
applications. Oracle is an RDBMS, which was first developed some sixteen years ago. Some of the tools of
Oracle are SQL *Plus, Oracle Forms, Oracle Report Writer, Oracle Graphics, SQL Pre-Compilers For C and Cobol
Languages.
TOAD :
Toad is an industry-standard tool for application development. Using Toad, developers can build, test, and
debug PL/SQL packages, procedures, triggers, and functions. TOAD users can create and edit database objects
such as tables, views, indexes, constraints, and users. TOAD. SQL Editor provides an easy and efficient way to
write and test scripts and queries, and its powerful data grids provide an easy way to view and edit Oracle data.
TOAD empowers developers and DBAs to be more productive by providing an intuitive graphical user interface
to Oracle. TOAD is a powerful, low-overhead tool that makes PL/SQL development faster and easier and
simplifies database administration tasks. Advanced editors allow users to work on multiple files simultaneously
even different file types such as SQL, PL/SQL.
8. Report Builder:
Although forms give users online/immediate interaction with the database, the Report
Builder allows users to queue the data extraction request in a queue at a remote report
server. The report server, in turn, interacts with the database to generate the reports. You
can also embed the reports in other online tools such as Web browsers, graphics, and forms.
Oracle E-Business Suite:
The Oracle E-Business Suite Architecture is a framework for multi-tiered, distributed
computing that supports Oracle E-Business Suite products. In this model, various servers or
services are distributed among three levels, or tiers. A server (or services) is a process or
group of processes that runs on a single machine and provides a particular functionality. For
example, Web services process HTTP requests, and Forms services process requests for
activities related to Oracle Forms.
15. Conclusion
I really enjoyed a lot doing this project. It was a great and wonderful experience. It also
gave me the opportunity to see experts and highly qualified technical personnel solving
the technical problems belonging to real-life situations in a very organized manner using
more advanced tools and techniques available here.
The Managers of this organization , Tata Cummins Limited,Jamshedpur very supportive
and their assistance in providing requisite facilities System within the 6 months period
assigned for Project Training. The proposed new system is thoroughly tested and fulfills
the user's specific criteria related to system's requirements.
