2. One of the most sacred place among the
"Hindus", the "Pehowa" lies at a distance of 27
kilometer from "Thanesar". The ancient town
of Pehowa has a religious importance. The
town of "Pehowa" was named after the
famous King "Prithu". The historicity of the
place coupled with its religious significance
makes Pehowa one of the most sought after
tourist destination.
3. This site was called 'Prithudaka' in the epics of
Mahabharat named after the King Prithu who
prayed for the salvation of his fathers soul here.
This site is where the tradition of Shraddha to
fathers is offered. It is located 27 km west of
Thanesar. The place boasts of existence from AD
882 but an inscription written on it states that it
was actually built in AD 895. Legend has it that
when the father of King Prithu was nearing his
death, he wanted his son to fulfill just one wish
of his. He wanted to breathe his last near the
river Saraswati Prithudak.

"Pehowa" to worship their death ancestors
and offer "Pind Daan" in order to release the
soul of the deceased from the cycle of birth
and re- birth. One can experience death from
a very close quarters in the holy land of
"Pehowa", where most of the tourist come to
pay their last religious offerings to their near
and dear ones.

14. Kartikeya Temple in Pehowa township of
the North Indian state of Haryana is an ancient
structure dating back to the 5th century
B.C.Kartikeya is a
popular Hindu deity in India and is worshiped
across the length aThe Kushanas, who governed
from what is today Peshawar, and the Yaudheyas,
a republican clan in the Punjab, stuck coins
bearing the image of Skanda. The deity was
venerated also by the Ikshvakus,
an Andhra dynasty, and the Guptas.[2]nd breadth
of the country.
18. The tiratha is located six kilometre away from
Pehowa on Ambala Road or 31 kilometre from
Krukshetra town. This is one of the important place
of pilgrimages associated with the saints Vashishta
and Vishwamittra. The place is also significant for
being the meeting points of the rivers Saraswati and
Aruna. Mahabharata and Vamana Puran vividly
describe about the significance of this tirath.
However, presently the tirath is not known for the
story narrated in the epic and the purana. Rather it
is famous for being a Shivaite centre called
Sangameshwar Mahadev temple. Here lies a temple
dedicated to Shiva or Sangmaeshwar Mahadev
adjoining to a small tank. Thousands of pilgrims
and devotees throng to the temple regularly.
