Ujjain is an ancient city in Madhya Pradesh, India located on the banks of the Kshipra River. It is an important Hindu pilgrimage site known for historic temples like the Mahakaleshwar Temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. Some other notable religious sites include the Bade Ganesh Temple housing a colorful Ganesh statue, Harsiddhi Temple with two tall pillars, Kal Bhairav Temple related to tantric practices, and the 17th century Jantar Mantar astronomical observatory which is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Mahakleshwar Jyotirling temple (also known as Mahakal) is
one of the most famous Hindu temples dedicated to Lord Shiva
and is one of the twelve Jyotirlingams, which are supposed to be
the most sacred abodes of Lord Shiv !! The real establishment
date/period of the temple cannot be ascertained.
But earliest references to the Mahakal are from 6th century BC !!
The temple, in its present form, was reconstructed in 18th
century.

Indore. .

Ujjain has always been an
educational hub since ages now, and
this place just gives us enough
evidence as to why it is considered
so. Jantar Mantar (also called the
Vedh Shala Observatory) was
established in the 17th century was
established so as to help the Hindu
scholars and astrologers with their
research and studies.. The Vrihat
Samrat yantra is a sundial that can
give the local time to an accuracy of
2 seconds. It is a UNESCO World
Heritage Site. It was built by
maharaja jaisingh in 1725.

line, Chintaman Ganesh Temple is one of the most visited places
in Ujjain.The Ganesh idol enshrined here is supposed to be
Swayambhu (born of itself). It is an ancient temple that has been
done artistically. Worshippers throng to this temple because the
deity here is traditionally known as Chintaharan Ganesh meaning
“the assurer of freedom from worldly anxieties”
