Embrace Children Orphanage
Located in the heart of Abu Dhabi within a site of 23450 sq.m.
and a parking lot facing the best side road for public use, the
building was oriented according to the north side to accom-
modate maximum comfort for the living part of the building.
The linear building consists of 3 axes and 3 focal points, one
point functions as a divider between two main parts dor-
mitories and classrooms with amenities linking the two.The
dormitories are further divided by 3 parts, each part with 10
sleeping wing on 3 levels to house 360 child in total, all wings
are age categorized. Each sleeping hall is provided with a bath-
room and each wing ends with a fire exit, the connector of
all 3 wings is roofed with skylight to allow natural lighting
into the residential part that with the combination of the use
of light coloured materials makes the living space that more
pleasing to the eye and comfortable.
As for the study halls, they are divided by 2 parts with a court-
yard like area in between, there are 3 levels with 6 halls on
each floor and the middle area is closed by the gymnasium on
one end and the management building on the other with 2 fire
exists on each side.

6. Airport road in Abu Dhabi has been chosen as a site
for this project within an area of (45x60) m² & a park-
ing lot above the grade for the commercial use.
The building has been adjusted & oriented according
to the north side & some view considerations (the
shore) to accomplish the maximum comfort for the
whole building.
This suggested the shape of the building, which is
diverted from the square shape & divided into 4 small
squares & the southern square was subtracted for
the lack of view & sunlight, the 3 other squares were
shifted from each other in order to provide extra sun,
ventilation, view & space for each apartment. Some
variations occurred in the shape of the apartments to
reach the maximum possible choices (sizes of balco-
nies, number of window openings and some space
variations) and to give a dynamic appearance for the
building.
A mall located 5 stories above grade consists of a
number of shops, an underground parking of 3 sto-
ries for residential use. A modular system of (1.2 &
3.6) has been used in designing the apartments & the
parking lots (typical apartments & duplex apartments)
and a(4.8) for the mall as a public space. Light colored
materials have been used in respond to the climatic
region.
