Technology has significantly changed how people communicate, especially adolescents. While online communication allows constant contact, it lacks the physical elements of face-to-face interaction like body language and facial expressions. Some research suggests adolescents are spending more time communicating through technology as it advances, which could make comprehending physical social cues more difficult. However, other research has not found strong evidence that technological communication harms interpersonal skills. Educating adolescents on balancing technology use could help prevent overreliance on online interaction that lacks physical social indicators.
