That’s where Sheridan’s Career Ready
program is here to help you succeed.
As the world of work is constantly changing
and as the labour market continues to be
competitive, employers are looking for
graduates who can stand out and adapt.
Career Ready was created with the needs of Sheridan’s students in mind
and made possible by a generous donation from RBC Future Launch.

Mentorship activities that will grow your network

Career Ready is a self-directed program that engages you in:

a Certificate of
Completion
from Sheridan
and RBC.
Participation in the Career Ready program is optional, participants can opt out of the program at

Through one-to-one appointment(s) with an extremely knowledgeable
Sheridan Employment Consultant you will be able to:
• Further develop your job search skills
• Create a professional resume, cover letter, and career portfolio to industry standards
• Effectively prepare for interviews and present yourself professionally
• Network like a professional using social media and virtual platforms

As part of the Career Ready program, the Get Working Pillar is
an important step in helping you prepare for the world of work!
5. GET WORKING
To help you successfully complete the Get Working – Career
Ready Pillar, students are encouraged to take the following steps:
1. Meet with a Sheridan Employment Consultant during the last term of your
academic studies (the earlier in the term the better! Finding a job takes time!)
2. Create a job search action plan with the support of the Employment Consultant
3. Submit a completed Career Ready Get Working Reflection Document on SLATE
4. With the support of the Employment Consultant, connect with Sheridan’s
Community Employment Services (CES) team

To complete your participation in the Career Ready
program so you can receive your Certificate of
Completion from Sheridan and RBC, you will need
to meet with a Sheridan Employment Consultant
in your last term at Sheridan
Note: You are welcome to access all Career Centre services at any point
while studying at Sheridan!

You can continue meeting with your Employment Consultant until
you feel prepared to transition from school into the workplace

Consultant to create an action plan that will outline the
steps you will be taking to find work upon graduation
The action plan will help you identify what you
need to do to successfully begin your
career journey upon graduation

As part of your action plan development, your Employment Consultant will
discuss with you what other job search supports may be available to you
upon graduation, specifically what services you are eligible to access
through Sheridan’s Community Employment Services that will further
support your job search activities.

document through SLATE Assignments

Note: all Sheridan students and alumni can continue to work with
Sheridan’s Employment Consultants at the Career Centre after graduation!
Community Employment Services (CES)
Employment Consultants will share with you
information about the services offered at
Sheridan’s Community Employment
Services (CES) and will refer you to CES
after graduation for further support if you are
eligible to access their no-cost services.

Community Employment Services (CES)
Sheridan’s Community Employment Services
(CES) is staffed by Sheridan College staff
members and provides members in the local
community with Employment Ontario Employment
Services and are funded by the Ministry of
Labour, Training and Skills Development.
For over 40 years, Sheridan has been successfully uniting
employers with job seekers.

If you are eligible to access CES services, CES can assist you by:
Community Employment Services (CES)
Providing 1:1 employment consulting & job development/job matching
Expanded access to job leads, job postings, job search resources, current
labour market information and occupational profiles
More job search preparation supports through more workshops and 1:1
appointments with a member of their team
Helping you make more networking connections within the community
Providing you with information to further support any career exploration,
planning & development you engage in

Upon exploring if you will be accessing CES supports
and resources, if you decide you would like to register
with them, your Employment Consultant will provide you
with information on how to connect with CES
Community Employment Services (CES)
Once you connect with Sheridan’s CES team, they will inform you of next
steps and everything you need to register for tailored, job search support
Depending on your needs and what you and your Employment
Consultant determine, you can continue meeting with both CES and
Career Services

Checklist
Access Sheridan’s Career Centre Services and Employment Consultants in
your last term (remember, the earlier in the term, the better!) by emailing
careercentre@sheridancollege.ca with the script shared in the earlier slide
Develop a job search action plan with your Employment Consultant that
outlines your next step(s) to transition from school to work upon graduation
Explore with your Employment Consultant if you will be accessing the
services of Sheridan’s Community Employment Services (CES) team
