11. Introduction
Tonight, we are going to focus on what it means to
worship God in Spirit; we are going to go a little deeper
then we did last week. But, I am hearing “We bring the
sacrifice of praise unto the Lord” along with “We offer
up”—I forget how the song goes because it goes so far
back, but,”We bring the sacrifice of praise into the
11
12. house of the Lord.” Tonight, that is what we are doing.
We are giving Him sacrifice of praise, worship, and
adoring Him and Loving on Him because He is so worthy
to be praised.
12
13. Prayer
And we just thank You Jesus for all that You are, and
dying on the cross for us and shedding your blood for us.
We are so unworthy, Lord God, but because of Your
Blood You make us righteous Lord, we just thank You.
We thank You and bless You this evening, oh Lord. In
Jesus Mighty name. Amen. Alleluia.
13
14. Chapter One
How Do We Glorify God?
(I am taking out of the New King James version.)
To worship God in Spirit based on Hebrews 12:28-29, we
read: “Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom
which cannot be shaken, let us have grace, by which we
14
15. may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly
fear. For our God is a consuming fire.”
These scriptures means: to reverence, and giving all our
attention to our Heavenly Father. We must always
glorify God in worship. “How do we glorify God?”
1 Corinthians 6:20 says, “For you were bought at a
price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your
spirit, which are God's.”
15
16. We should prepare our hearts for worship; in doing this
we should also prepare our emotions. In doing this we
get ourselves in the right spirit, and in a right frame of
mind. We do that by Psalm 51:10 saying, “Create in me
a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within
me.” Cast me not away from Thy presence Lord. That is
what we do, we come to the Lord and say, “Father,
examine my heart; examine my thoughts. Take away
anything that is not of You, oh Lord, and create in me a
16
17. clean heart and pure mind that I may be Holy and
acceptable to you, Lord God, and pleasing in your sight.”
We come into His presence with singing, and dancing
lifting up holy hands because worship is a time to break
those chains that have had us bound, such as: chains of
heaviness, chains of worry, chains of, um, oppression,
depression. Worshipping in the Spirit without the Holy
Spirit is empty. (One moment please.)
17
18. As we prepare our heart for worship, we prepare our
emotions—as well, and in doing this we get ourselves in
the right frame of mind. Psalm 89:7 says, “The highest
angelic powers stand in awe of God. He is far more
awesome than all who surround his throne” which
speaks of the thought that we must be in a time of
holiness, sharing our reverence to God whether it is in the
dance, song, or instrument prayer. Our prayers are
praying in our warfare and there is a healing balm.
18
19. In 1 Corinthians 11:27, “Wherefore whosoever shall eat
this bread, and drink this cup of the Lord, unworthily,
shall be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord”
therefore worship needs to be done in an orderly manner
giving glory and honor to God, Christ Jesus the praises
He is do. In 1 Corinthians 11:29 we read, “For if you eat
the bread or drink the cup without honoring the body of
Christ, you are eating and drinking God's judgment
upon yourself.” Worship is not something to rush
19
20. through, but should be a time surrendered to the Holy
Spirit. It is in worship that we usher the presence of God
and we should desire to stay in that place and not rush
through it. When we bring the presence of worship,
healing comes; salvation comes; strong holds are
broken—along with deliverance. It is an awesome time
and when we come into one accord with the Holy Spirit
there is nothing that God cannot do.
20
21. Worship Needs to be Holy.
1 Peter 1:15-16 says, “But now you must be holy in
everything you do, just as God who chose you is holy.”
We should be in a sincere and adoration of Him,
acknowledging His greatness and His goodness.
21
22. In the book of Psalm 149:3 we read, “Let them praise his
name in the dance: let them sing praises unto him with
the timbrel and harp.” As we dance and sing, and clap
our hands in shout while lifting up holy hands allowing
the people to enter into a praise and a worship. It allows
the Holy Spirit to come in and as He takes over, we just
go into a deeper, deeper place with the Lord. And it is a
way of showing and adoration, through Love,
appreciation. We are showing God our Love and
22
23. appreciation, adoration, singing in the Spirit—and in
Truth. When I say by singing in Spirit, sometimes it is
“Oh Lord, hallelujah. You are beautiful to me. We
welcome You Holy Spirit.” Or it can be, “A time of
singing in tongues” as an example of singing in the Spirit.
So, there are different facets of singing such as, singing in
the Spirit or singing in the language you understand, or in
your tongue. I have found for myself when I sing in the
tongue God takes me deeper. For some reason, I usually
23
24. go into a Hebrew language. We are to worship at His
footstool. “Come let us worship and bow down. Let us
kneel before the Lord our God our Maker.”
Psalm 95:5 says, “He is Holy.” We should worship at
His footstool. Psalm 40:3 states, “That He will put a
new song in our mouth.” I just gave you an example of
that, I just sang a heart –something that came to my heart.
That is how a lot of my songs come, as I will be just
24
25. playing the piano and just worshipping, and the Lord will
drop a new song in my spirit. We are to come before
Him in reverence, fear, and awe.
1 Chronicles 69 says, “Sing praises and meditate.”
Think on the things we sing about. How? What has the
Lord done for you? It is so easy, in the flesh, to meditate
on “Woe for me, or this has happened, and that has
happened.” However, if we put our minds on the things
25
26. of God and how God has come through for us in certain
situations it is easy for us to come up out of heaviness
and just draw unto His presence. That is how we
overcome.
Talk of His marvelous and wondrous works and devoutly
praise them, Psalm 144:9 says, “Sing a new song upon
our heart, or instruments of ten strings. Offer praise
unto Him.” All of works and all that we do.
26
27. When I play the piano it is a form of worship. If I am
drawing it can be a form of worship. If I am creating
something, or if I am doing embroidery or knitting—or,
not that I do those things but, “Anything you do as unto
the Lord is a form of worship.” It can even be cooking a
meal, or cleaning your home. Psalm 145:10 says,
“Blessing Him affectionately with gratitude confessing
and praising Him in everything we do.” In the book of
John 4:24 we read, “God is Spiritual.” So when we
27
28. worship in Spirit and in Truth, which is reality, the
secrets of our hearts are revealed. 1 Corinthians 14:25
talks about, “When we fall on our face before we are
recognizing that He is among us” and we are giving
Him all honor, glory, and praise. Psalm 95:6 is talking
about “Come now. Worship and bow.” Reverent praises
are bowing down before the Father and giving Him all
glory.
28
29. Hebrews 12:28 is about receiving the kingdom that is
firm and stable, and cannot be shaken. When we worship
it strengthens us in our walk. When we go through trails
we start worshipping it will break that heaviness. It
breaks the lies of the enemy that will come at you when
you are going through a storm. You become victorious
and you can come through worship.
29
30. Hebrews 1:6 says, “Let all the angels of God worship.”
Even the angels of God come into the sanctuary. I do not
know about any of you about you, but there has been time
when I am in worship at church—or even when I am on
Internet, doing worship at church with my church,
monitoring and I am home and they are at the sanctuary I
can feel the presence of angels. The worship is so
powerful; that is what happens when we get into the
Spirit and we start worshipping Him with all of our
30
31. hearts, soul, and minds. Revelation 4:10,11 says “There
were twenty-four elders that fell before Him it takes us
into the Holy of holies who is sitting on the Throne and
they are worshipping Him forever, and ever.” They
throw their crowns down before the Throne, crying,
worthy are You Lord and God to receive the glory and
honor and dominion. For you have created all things by
Your will they were brought into being; we are created.
So we are acknowledging that He is the creator, not just
31
32. every Loving thing to the: plants, mountains, and
everything that is breathing. Let everything on earth that
has breath praise the Lord. There is even a scripture, and
I do not know where it is located right now but if we fail
to praise Him even the rocks will cry out. Worship is
very important as Revelation 22:3 says, “There shall no
longer exist anything that is a cursed, detestable, foul,
impure or horrible.” When we worship the enemy has to
flee; he cannot stand to be in the presence of worship.
32
33. That is how powerful it is, and that is why it is so
important to worship Him in Spirit because the enemy
will flee. So, if you are going through any kind of hard
time, this is a very important key—to overcome a lot of
those trials.
I have more, the key to the end time revival we must ask
our selves, “What is Holiness?” It goes so much deeper;
I don’t know do we have to keep going?
33
34. Key to End Time Revival
And now we are going to go into another section on this,
because there is just so much. Titus 2:11-12 says, “For
the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to
all men, teaching us that, denying ungodliness and
worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and
godly in the present age.”
34
35. Sometimes, when you are in a place of worship the
enemy will try to come in and try to take your mind of
what is holy, and pleasing unto God. He might put a
thought in your mind that is totally away from what we
are trying to accomplish in worship. What you need to
do, you should live soberly; righteously and Godly in this
present world. When that temptation comes in your life
you need to do what Joseph did and run the other way.
Do not entertain the thoughts, or the things that come at
35
36. you on a day-to-day basis. Satan has a way to coming in
through: thoughts, through what you see. There is a song
we learned a long time ago, “Be careful little eyes what
you see. Be careful little eyes what you see. For the
Father up above is looking down with Love, be careful
little eyes what you see. Be careful little ears what you
hear. Be careful little ears what you hear, for the
Father up above is looking down with Love—so be
careful little ears what you hear. Be careful little mouth
36
37. what you say. Be careful little mouth what you say, for
the Father up above is looking down with Love—so be
careful little mouth what you say.”
And that is so true. We really need to guard our temple,
as those are all openings: our eyes, our ears, and our
mouth. They are all openings for either the Holy Spirit to
enter in, and then also come out. Or, there is an old
saying, “Garbage in, and garbage out.” If you are
37
38. looking at pornography or you are listening to a lot of
music, or movies that have a lot of cussing—this fills
your temple with garbage. You really need to guard
those openings; if you do get garbage in then you need to
clean them out. There is a song I used to sing with
children when they were little, “Throw it in the trash.
Throw it in the trash. What do you when you get done?
Just throw it in the trash.” Just throw it in the trash get
rid of it. You do not need to take it to the Father and let
38
39. Him clean you out. We should be blameless according to
1 Corinthians 1:8 which says, “Who will also confirm
you to the end, that you may be blameless in the day of
our Lord Jesus Christ.” As well, 2 Corinthians 5:16-17
says, “Therefore, from now on, we regard no one
according to the flesh. Even though we have known
Christ according to the flesh, yet now we know Him
thus no longer. Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a
new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all
39
40. things have become new.” We are a new, we are a new
creature; all those things from the past are gone. We do
not have to entertain them anymore. 2 Corinthians 5:10-
11 says, “For we must all appear before the judgment
seat of Christ, that each one may receive the things
done in the body, according to what he has done,
whether good or bad. Knowing, therefore, the terror of
the Lord, we persuade men; but we are well known to
God, and I also trust are well known in your
40
41. consciences.” So keeping our thoughts and our minds
holy and pure is important to worship. 2 Corinthians
6:14-17 talks about separating yourself from the world as
we read “Do not be unequally yoked together with
unbelievers. For what fellowship has righteousness
with lawlessness? And what communion has light with
darkness?” That does not mean that we should not talk
to anybody in the world, it just means you do not
conform or compromise with him or her, as we are to be a
41
42. light; we do that by example. The greatest key that I have
found of being a light is being a vessel of the Love and
trying to model to model ourselves after Jesus, and His
character. He came to earth to set an example as a man.
We are to cleanse ourselves from all filthiness from the
flesh and the spirit, perfecting ourselves in all holiness in
the fear of God, which is found in 2 Corinthians 7:1
which says, “Therefore, having these promises, beloved,
42
43. let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh
and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.”
43
44. A Clean Heart
In Psalm 51, “Create in me a clean heart oh God and
renew within me a right spirit.” Do not war after the
flesh for the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but
mighty through God pulling down strongholds, and
casting down imaginations and every high thing that
44
45. exalts itself against the knowledge of God. We must
bring these things into captivity every thought to the
obedience of Christ. When we are worshipping we need
to bring everything into obedience, and realize our battles
are not in flesh and blood but they are against: powers,
and principalities that rule. We can sing to our battles.
There was a time in my life where I was going through a
very hard testing, and the Lord gave me a very powerful
victory song and when I started to sing it out—I got
45
46. victory in that battle. It is, “Barbara sings in the Spirit
with the gift of different languages. Shout unto God
with the voice of triumph. Sing unto God with the voice
of praise. He has done great things, alleluia. He has
done great things, Allelu. Sing Hosanna! Sing
Hosanna! Sing Hosanna to the King of kings. Sing
Hosanna. Sing Hosanna to the Lord.” It is a battle
song and there are scriptures in the Bible you can take as
well. I kind of got off the subject there, but that just hit
46
47. with our battles. When we are going into a place of
worship and keeping in our holiness, we should not be
biting and devouring one another; take heed that we are
not consumed one of another. We should walk in the
Spirit and we shall not fulfill the lusts of the flesh. (Gal.
5:15) Do not deceived, God is not mocked. What ever a
man sows he shall reap. If we sow into our flesh we reap
corruption, but if sow into the Spirit we reap ever lasting
Life.
47
48. Ephesians 1:4 says, “just as He chose us in Him before
the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and
without blame before Him in love.” Hallelujah. Love is
the key to reaching the Nations, to reaching one another.
If we can set aside our differences and just draw near—
and I am going off again, but just remember Ephesians
2:18-22 says, “For through Him we both have access by
one Spirit to the Father. Now, therefore, you are no
longer strangers and foreigners, but fellow citizens with
48
49. the saints and members of the household of God, having
been built on the foundation of the apostles and
prophets, Jesus Christ Himself being the chief
cornerstone, in whom the whole building, being fitted
together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord, in whom
you also are being built together for a dwelling place of
God in the Spirit.” As well, Ephesians 4:8 says we
should focus on: truth, honesty, justice, purity, being
lovely, good reports, virtue, praise, and think on these
49
50. things. That is keeping in mind the fullness, which
concludes my teaching for tonight to be continued.
