7. Where to Begin
2 Timothy 3:16, 17
All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine,
for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness that the man of
God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.
As a disciple it is important to understand where to begin in their studies
of the Bible. It is with this thought in mind I wanted to help beginners of
God’s Word and those advanced to know where to begin.
Understanding where to begin has many benefits to the everyday life of
the disciple. It is when the disciple understands where to begin they will
learn how to stay in the cutting edge of their personal walk with God in
their life, and their earthly assignment as Ambassadors of the Kingdom.
In today’s Scripture we read, “All Scripture is given by inspiration of God.”
What this means to the disciple of God’s Word that no matter where we
are in reading in the word of God, “All Scripture” is given by inspiration.
From Genesis to Revelation is given by God. At the same time we must
understand that the word God represents the Trinity: God the Father, God
the Son, God the Holy Spirit. We understand this to be true as it is written
in the Strong’s Concordance that the Word God in the Old Testament is
Elohim, which means the Trinity. As well, in the New Testament the word
God in the Strong’s Concordance is the Greek word Theos that represents
the Trinity: God the Father, God the Son, God the Holy Spirit. So, no
matter where you are reading in the Word of God it was the whole God-
Head operating together to bring to you their Word in order to know them
and understand their plans for you in your purpose and more.
As you continue in these two Scriptures you will notice the word “For
instruction in righteousness.” This is very important because as we read
the Bible we should understand what righteousness is and acknowledge
that righteousness is the foundation of God’s Word in which the Word of
God should be studied.
8. I have recently looked at many translations of the Word of God and most
translations have taken the word righteousness out, yet the word
righteousness is key and vital to understand.
Here, the word righteousness is the Greek word dikaiosyne (Strong’s
G1343) which speaks of the reason in which Jesus came to the earth.
Matthew 3:15 And Jesus answering said unto him, suffer it be so now: for
thus it becometh us to fulfill all righteousness.
I wanted to share this Scripture because this shows that the mission of
Jesus was to cause the will of God (The Trinity) to be made known in order
to walk in and the promises of God to receive fulfilment.
In like manner the disciple is no greater than the Master and it is
important the disciple walks in the same view. This thought causes a
responsibility on those who teach and disciple others in the Body of Christ.
The question we must ask ourselves, “Is what we hear and study from the
viewpoint of righteousness?”
Once you finish reading these pages and using the tools that are available I
believe you will walk away with a larger vision in what God has given you
to do in your life and how to know God and walk with God in greater
intimacy.
The second Scripture I would like to share on this thought to establish the
purpose of all Scripture is found in Psalm 97:1-3
The LORD reigneth; let the earth rejoice; let the multitude of isles be glad
thereof. Clouds and darkness are round about him: righteousness and
judgment are the habitation of his throne. Fire goeth before him, and
burneth up his enemies round about.
Here, we read about the description of God’s Throne. At the same time
we see what the habitation of God’s Throne is, which is righteousness and
judgment. Here, the word habitation means foundation and if foundation
is what the Throne is built upon then we understand foundation is
9. righteousness and judgment.
As you study the word righteousness in this Scripture in Strong’s H6664 we
read that righteousness is translated as Covenant. Hallelujah!
Here, righteousness also represents deliverance, victory, prosperity,
redemption, just weights and balances. So, as we read the Scripture we
can say, “Covenant is the foundation of his throne.”
I remember when I first learned that Covenant was the foundation of his
throne, and the purpose of all Scripture I realized that I was interpreting
the Bible from the outside looking in. At the same time I also realized that
this was the reason I could not walk in a victorious lifestyle in my personal
relationship with God’s Word as a disciple.
So understanding this Truth is vital to our journey with God and the way a
person studies God’s Word.
At the same time I also want to quickly give a thought on “Where to
Begin” as a student of God’s Word on how to study. Below are a few
pinpoints to help you, which are:
To who is the Book of the Bible written to, or the chapter of the
Book written to that you are reading?
What is the context of the Book of the Bible you are reading, or the
chapter of the Book written that you are reading?
What is the custom in which the Book of the Bible you are reading,
or the chapter of the Book written that are you from?
Remember to always read from a Covenant point of view: Who is
Jesus speaking to or the author of the chapters speaking to?
There is a wonderful source that I have had in my library for almost forty-
years on customs of the Bible I would encourage you to get. The name of
the Book is called Mannerisms and Customs of the Bible. Here, you will
find each verse of the Bible (for the most part) from a custom point of
view. This is a wonderful tool to have your library.
10. Into Your Hands
Luke 23:46, 47 And when Jesus had cried with a loud voice, he said, Father,
into thy hands I commend my spirit: and having said thus, he gave up the
ghost. Now when the centurion saw what was done, he glorified God,
saying, certainly this was a righteous man.
We have often meditated upon the Scriptures of the Prayer that Jesus said
on the cross. It is through this prayer that I believe is the one of the
greatest prayers in the whole Bible. Not only is it the greatest prayer in
the whole Bible but this scene in the Bible shows how Jesus established
Covenant with the participation of the Father and the Holy Spirit.
Here, Jesus prayed “Father into thy hands.”
Here, Jesus relied upon the hands of the Father to do the work through
Him on the cross. This is very important because every disciple must learn
how to rely upon the Father to do the work that is needed in their lives
through Jesus. The Father came down to where Jesus was on the cross
and brought Jesus unto Himself.
Notice, Jesus did not start quoting Scripture. At the same time Jesus did
not start a list of repentance. As well, Jesus did not begin to decree and
declare his way into the future. It was the desire of Jesus to walk as one in
Covenant and rely upon the Father the same way he always did. Jesus said
in the Gospels, “It is not me who does the work it is the Father who does
the work through me.” At the same time Jesus said, “I have only come to
11. do the work of the Father.”
In the Book of John you will see that Jesus said that He was sent over
thirty-times to do the will of the Father. This is one of the benefits of
these pages that sets these pages out on its own in the message of
Covenant. If Jesus tried to speak the Scriptures, prophesy to his future,
look for a vision or have a dream, decree what the prophets said about
him this would be establishing his own righteousness. I am not saying all
these things are not right and needed what I am saying is that a disciple
must learn to walk in Covenant first, because everything else is an
overflow: faith, dreams, visions, prophecy, gifts, and more.
Matthew 6:33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness;
and all these things shall be added unto you.
We will learn that the kingdom of God is simply living as One with God:
God the Father, God the Son, God the Holy Spirit (and those who are
redeemed), so that all the resources of the kingdom (these things will be
added unto you) can flow through the disciple because Covenant already
positioned the disciple in righteousness and rest.
Now that the cross is finished the disciple seeks by simply acknowledging
they are already One in Covenant.
While Jesus was on the cross Jesus maintained his position of being One
and relied upon the hands of the Father.
As we continue to look at these Scriptures we discover that Jesus also
12. prayed, “I commend my spirit.” I am sure that many of us have heard the
saying “Let go and let God” or the other popular saying that says, “It’s out
of my hands.”
As we take a closer look at this word commend the meaning of the word
tells us a little more about what Jesus meant when He prayed. Here the
word commend is the Greek Word Lexicon:: Strong’s G3908-paratithemi.
This word paratithemi is a key word and is used as a verb. This word
means to entrust, commit to one’s charge, but also to deposit. Here, the
Father brought Jesus unto Himself and deposited Jesus into Himself.
It is here that Jesus became one with the Father, which is the meaning of
Covenant. At the same time because Jesus become one with the Father
Covenant positioned Jesus in right standing with the Father, which is the
meaning of righteousness.
Righteousness is more than right standing with God. Righteousness is the
position that a disciple is placed into as they are made one in Covenant
through Blood. As we continue in this word study where the Father
prepared to make Jesus one with Himself, we continue to learn other
truths about this word paratithemi. In the middle of this word we discover
that the word tithe is found. This description of this word is prolonged
from the primary word theo (theh-o). Remember when I shared with you
that the meaning of the word God in the New Testament is the Greek
Word Theos? Which means Trinity?
13. Here we see and learn that when Jesus prayed, “Into thy hands I commend
my spirit" it was with the idea of being made one in the Spirit from an
earths point of view. You will find more of this meaning in Strong’s G5087
tithemi.
As well, as you continue to study this word there is another interesting
little nugget of Truth that is found in the last two letters of this word
paratithmi, which is mi.
Mi is a medical term where the oxygen is being shut off to the heart and
the way to recovery is a transfusion of oxygen. We see that Jesus prayed
to be one in Covenant and the Father brought Jesus unto Himself and laid
him down as His Son in rest, and it was there that the Father infused Jesus
with newness of Life in Breath. This Breath is a Law of Life which is the
Law of Covenant. Covenant represents being made one in the Divine
Exchange of Life in the position of righteousness and rest where the Life of
God can flow freely through the vessel of the disciple.
As I studied this word commend for almost a year, and still studying it and
receiving more insight I was literally blown away. It would be impossible
for me to write the fullness of what it means to me, but this prayer that
Jesus prayed was the greatest secret prayer He ever prayed. It was clear
to me that the Father and Jesus had this all planned out between them
both along with the Holy Spirit how mankind would be restored back into
a place that God would choose and no longer would anyone have the
ability to steal His creation again.
14. Here the word commend also represents the word Table. Jesus would be
our Table that we recline and rest through the Father’s presence. It would
be at that Table the Father would live through Jesus in us where our
enemies could not go. It is written in the Book of Romans “The Father
raised up Jesus by His glory.” The glory is the Person of the Holy Spirit who
quickened Jesus back into Life through the Breath of God. God breathed
upon Jesus to revive and restore Life back into Him, and all that believed
upon the plan of God to redeem through Jesus was made alive and
quickened into God as One in Covenant.
Rest is God: God the Father, God the Son, God the Holy Spirit living in the
disciple through Jesus by the Holy Spirit.
15. Four Sides to the Cross
Romans 6:3,4
Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were
baptized into his death? Therefore we are buried with him by the baptism
into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of
the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.
The purpose of this section is to take a look at how the disciple has already
been made one in Covenant with God: God the Father, God the Son, God
the Holy Spirit through the finished works of the cross. At the end of this
section you will begin to understand that the opening Scripture is true, “All
Scripture is given for the purpose of training in Covenant, or Righteousness
and Rest.” 2 Timothy 3:16 Just as Jesus was made one with the Father in
Covenant, so has the disciple through the hands of the Father through
Jesus. This is called the ministry and word of reconciliation, or “How God
establishes Covenant.”
2 Corinthians 5:18
And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus
Christ, and given to us the ministry of reconciliation.
2 Corinthians 5:19
To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not
imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the
word
16. of reconciliation.
If you can imagine a tire on a bicycle that is turning with many spokes, I
would like you to think about those spokes turning to represent the many
members of the Body of Christ.
As you imagine those spokes turning around in a circle think about how
each spoke represents the voice of the Body of Christ to enforce Covenant
of the death of Jesus by remaining in their position of righteousness and
rest. As they all go around together imagine them all speaking with one
voice it is finished once and for all and living it. What an amazing
Triumphant Church would appear on the earth.
However, much of the Body of Christ are binding demons, being involved
in inner healing ministries, circles of intercessory meetings, preaching the
call of the five-fold ministry and more. Not to mention many are speaking
about dreams, visions, and prophecy about the future or the past and
more. Yet, in all these types of moves none of them are in Divine Union
with each other because none of them are based upon Covenant, and
enforcing the bullseye of Covenant as the center.
Don’t get me wrong all these things are potent when they flow from the
proper foundation of Covenant, yet all of these things should be an
overflow of what Covenant is. Just as we saw through the prayer of Jesus
on the cross in the previous section of these pages “It was the Father who
brought Jesus unto Himself and made Jesus one in Covenant.” Here, we
17. see the work of Covenant has a ministry name which is the ministry of
reconciliation.
Notice it is at this time in verse 19 that when God was in Christ making the
world one with Himself through Jesus Christ he did not imput their
trespasses against them because of the blood of Jesus upon the cross. Yet,
at the same time Jesus was the Trespass Offering.
So, in today’s time together we take a look at a conversation that the
Apostle Paul was having with the Church of Rome. It is in this
conversation that the Apostle began to make a statement, then build on
Covenant through the ministry of reconciliation. Let us take a closer look
together as a few Scriptures together.
The First Side of the Cross: The Death Side of the Cross
Romans 6:1 What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace
may abound?
Romans 6:2 God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer
therein.
Here, we see that the Apostle Paul was speaking from the view of being
one in and with God in Covenant. When a person is alive unto God in
Covenant as the foundation and habitation of their lives that they practice
daily through the simple, potent, powerful acknowledgement of what
Jesus accomplished on the cross that same disciple enforces Covenant and
living in the acknowledgement of sin on a daily basis.
18. Romans 6:3 Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus
Christ were baptized into his death?
Here, we learn that there is the first side of the cross mentioned which is
the death side of the cross. It is this side that through the simple
acknowledgement of being one with Jesus in his death the disciple is
positioned in righteousness and rest and the blood of Jesus has made
them free from sin and the power of sin as a whole person.
It is the recognition that the disciple has not only died with Jesus but the
flesh has been circumcised and cut off from its power. Circumcism of the
flesh is what the Apostle Paul said “We no longer know Jesus after the
flesh, but after the Spirit.” (2 Corinthians 5)
To say that you believe Jesus died, Jesus arose, and Jesus is coming again is
one-hundred percent true. However, this profession of the works of Jesus
does not make the disciple one with God in Covenant.
It is proper to say, “You believe you died with Jesus into His baptism of
death (Covenant) and have been hidden in Jesus in righteousness and
rest.”
You have been made an Ambassador to live out of all Scripture from the
viewpoint of training in Covenant which positions you in righteousness and
rest and for that reason we learn what Covenant is the pure. 2 Timothy
3:16
19. The Second Side of the Cross: Raised Up From the Dead
Romans 6:4 Therefore we area buried with him by the baptism into death:
that like as Christ was raised up from the by the glory of the Father, even
so we also should walk in newness of life. (Life is the Law of Covenant.
John 3:16)
Here we learn the second side of the cross which is being raised up with
Jesus by the Father to walk in newness of life.
This word raised has many meanings however the one I enjoy the most
means to awake or cause to be born. Here, the root Strong’s Concordance
number is G 1453. The purpose of being born is to appear in a heavenly
assembly from the seat or bed. Here, the disciple’s bed is Jesus and it is
there the Father lives through Christ in the disciple to have expression of
His thoughts and will, along with His delights towards the disciple.
Romans 6:5 For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his
death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection.
Romans 6:6 Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him that the
body be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.
Romans 6:7 For he that is dead is freed from sin.
The Third Side of the Cross: Planted in the Likeness of His
Resurrection
I love the study of God’s Word because each time we read these Scriptures
we learn about Covenant. It is important to understand that as you study
20. God’s Word as we are doing that no matter where we are Covenant can be
found. Hallelujah!
In the beginning of these pages we looked at the prayer life of Jesus on the
cross and how He was made one, in Covenant with the Father. I love
these Scriptures here because this shares more about how the Father
responded to the prayer of Jesus ‘by raising him with His glory.”
Here, the word that describes why Jesus was laid down on his side
(paratithemi) and how Jesus was quickened and made alive. The word
that is used to describe in greater detail is the word planted. Here, the
root work to planted is Strong’s G5453 which means to puff or blow in
order to swell up.
Have you ever seen a flat tire and put air in it? As the air pump is turned
on the tire begins to swell into the image of the rounded tire. In like
manner, when the Father gave His breath the Father was forming Jesus in
the likeness of the resurrection in the image of who He is. Hallelujah!
In like manner a disciple is planted, or blown and puffed into the image of
who the Father is through Jesus for the Father to be One in Covenant in
the ministry of reconciliation. It is as the disciple lives as one with the
Father, the disciple is already positioned as one in Righteousness and Rest.
I have heard people say, “I rest in God.” The fact of the matter is a disciple
can’t “Rest in God” on their own because if they did they would not live in
the breath of God, or the exchange of Life in Covenant in the fullness of
21. the God-Head. There would be no shape. There would be no image. It is
only as the disciple draws from the Life in Covenant that is already there
through the simple acknowledgement of being one, the disciple lives in
righteousness and rest.
Genesis 2:7, 8
And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed
into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul. And the
LORD God planted a garden eastward in Eden; and there he put the man
whom he had formed.
Jesus died, once and for all, and if we have acknowledged that we have
died with him then we are fully circumcised in God: God the Father, God
the Son, God the Holy Spirit. It is the Holy Spirit who now upholds the
disciple to Life in the Spirit because the Holy Spirit now testifies of the
Blood as the Blood bears record of the course of action the disciple has
acknowledged in the same heavenly blueprint of Jesus.
Fourth Side of the Cross: One With God in Newness of Life (The Old
has Passed Away)
If I could draw three circles inside of each other and name them the outer
circle would be the Father, the inner second circle would be the Holy
Spirit, and the most center place would be Jesus and the disciple. It would
be the simple recognition and daily acknowledgement of the disciple that
it is in the center that the disciple lives daily.
22. When the disciple learns to live in this position of being reconciled as one
in Covenant, it is there the God-Head lives through Christ and into them as
one as a continual flow of Life in Covenant.
It is in this position of being one the disciple is seated with God: God the
Father, God the Son, God the Holy Spirit in Covenant in heavenly places.
Yet, down in the earth the disciple fully relies upon the hands of God the
Father, through God the Son by the God the Holy Spirit to increase
through them into the earth.
Living inside of the God-Head as one is learning to understand the
meaning of Covenant. At the same time, living inside of God is also being
one with all the resources that Covenant provides on earth as it is in
heaven.
Genesis 1:26-28 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our
likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the
fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every
creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.
So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him;
male and female created he them.
And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply,
and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of
the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that
moveth upon the earth.
23. So, as we look at the four sides of the cross together it is important to
understand that to live a life of being free is to understand that Jesus died
once and for all and does not die again, over and over and over.
The same is true with the disciple when they live a life of Covenant they
practice daily the bullseye of Covenant and acknowledge that they live a
life positioned in righteousness and rest already.
Romans 6:9 Knowing that Christ being raised from the dead dieth no
more; death hath no more dominion over them.
Romans 6:10 For in that he died unto sin once: but in that he liveth, he
liveth unto God.
Romans 6:11 Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto
sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord.
24. The Conversation
John 3:1-7 There was a man of the Pharisees, named Nicodemus, a ruler
of the Jews: the same came to Jesus by night, and said unto him, Rabbi, we
know that thou art a teacher come from God: for no man can do these
miracles that thou doest, except God be with him. Jesus answered and
said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, except a man be born again,
he cannot see the kingdom of God. Nicodemus saith unto him, how can a
man be born when he is old? Can he enter the second time into his
mother’s womb, and be born? Jesus answered, verily, verily, I say unto
thee, except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into
the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that
which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye
must be born again.
In the previous section of these pages I shared with you a little bit about
the message of Covenant, from the view point of how Jesus established
Covenant through His death, resurrection and ascension. At the same
time we shared how the disciple has died with Jesus, risen with Jesus and
is established in Covenant with Jesus in His resurrection.
I wanted to take time to review the message of being born again to let the
disciple see and understand the importance of the Covenant message
even in the presentation of the born again message.
Here we see Jesus speaking in “The Conversation” with Nicodemus the
message of being born again.
25. When you study the meaning of the word born from the words of Jesus in
the original Greek you will discover that this work represents how a soul is
converted by becoming an extension of God. Here, we must remember
that the word God is the Greek Word Theos in this study.
Helping people understand that there is a Trinity that represents the God-
Head is vital to understand in the disciple’s journey in the study of God’s
Word. After many years in ministry I never knew this until I began to study
the message of Covenant as God’s Living command in my life to “Teach His
People His Rest.”
I realize we looked at these Scriptures in these previous pages but let us go
back and remember the work of God the Father through Jesus. The
purpose of reading these Scriptures is help you understand that the work
of the God the Father through Jesus is vital to understand the message of
being born again and how the born again message is perceived and taught.
In 2 Corinthians 5:16-19 we read earlier these Scriptures, “Wherefore
henceforth know we no man after the flesh: yea, though we have known
Christ after the flesh, yet now henceforth know we him no more.
Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are
passed away; behold, all things are become new. And all things are of
God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to
us the ministry of reconciliation; to wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling
the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath
committed unto us the word of reconciliation.”
26. So, when we look at the conversation of Jesus with Nicodemus we see
something very interesting from Nicodemus point of view. Nicodemus
said to Jesus, “I know you are sent from God because God is with you by
the miracles you do.”
At the same time Nicodemus had no idea that God the Father was in Jesus
to reconciled Nicodemus back into Himself through the work and mission
Jesus came to establish Covenant with mankind and all creation. With that
thought in mind Jesus answered, “You must become born again.”
So, to understand that the work of God the Father through Jesus is to
understand that Jesus is the Door in which the Father works to restore
mankind back unto Himself. Jesus came to reveal the Father so that the
Father can complete His work of being one in Divine Union as intended
since the beginning of time.
So let us be firmly established in the work of the Father through Jesus to
establish Covenant in each of our lives. Through the simple
acknowledgement that Jesus died for the Father to reconciled mankind
back into Himself as One is to understand in part the work redemption.
The second provoking thought of the stud of the word born in the
statement of Jesus to Nicodemus, “You must be born again” is to
understand that the word born means to be delivered of. This same
meaning comes from G1080 in the continued study of the word born.
27. When a person has been brought back into the Father through Jesus and
made alive by the Breath of the Father who is the Holy Spirit, it is there
that a person is delivered.
To be delivered means the simple recognition that the disciple now lives in
the Father through Jesus by the Holy Spirit. It is through the Life of Jesus
that the person has entered back into the Father and is upheld in the
Father through the established work of Jesus on the cross. Yet, it is the
Holy Spirit who upholds the disciple in Jesus because the Holy Spirit bears
record of the Blood of Jesus in each life of the disciple that they are born
again.
Part of discipleship is learning how to acknowledge that living inside of the
God-Head is living in a Life of Covenant, because Covenant is being One
with who God is. At the same time discipleship is learning how to extract
everything in life from God: God the Father, God the Son, God the Holy
Spirit for everything that pertains to life and God likeness.
As we continue to look at the word born in the statement of Jesus in His
conversation with Nicodemus this word born also represents the ability to
come into existence and begin to be. When I discovered this word study I
could not explain the joy that was in my heart because as a disciple
practices the simple acknowledgement of being One with God in Covenant
that disciple has come into existence inside of God. I never wanted to
leave that place and daily I practice a life of living in deliverance in rest. To
come into existence and begin to be is also to appear in history.
28. Oh the joy that floods a soul when they realize they are born of God: God
the Father, God the Son, God the Holy Spirit. It is a place where a disciple
practices daily and realized that Covenant positions them already in
righteousness and rest. Here, the exchange inwardly of God’s presence is
free to flow into the life of the disciple and through to walk with God.
The work of the Father in you has established His Covenant of being One
but also that He has written His word and thoughts in your inward parts of
your being. For this reason His Word is alive to the disciple and it is there
the disciple hungers to know more of the message of Covenant.
It is a peculiar thought to me why the message of the Gospel is presented
from the outside looking in just like Nicodemus perceived when Jesus
spoke to him the words, “Verily, verily you must be born again to see the
kingdom of God.”
Nicodemus immediately compared the thought of being born to what is
natural but could not see the Spiritual because the message of Covenant
was not completed and established yet in His life. On one hand Jesus did
not go to the cross so the message of Covenant was still obscure to
Nicodemus. However, as you look at the other hand Jesus used the
writings of the Prophets to help establish the message of Covenant in this
same conversation.
John 3:14, 15 And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even
so must the Son of man be lifted up: that whosoever believeth in him
29. should not perish, but have eternal life. For God so loved the world, that
he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not
perish, but have everlasting life.
While there are many more words to describe the meaning of the word
born, “Covenant is a never ending study” because all the Books of the
Bible are written to establish and train in Covenant. For this reason the
word that goes with being born is the word again as Jesus said, ‘You must
be born again.”
Here, the word again means: from the very first, from a higher place, of
things which come from heaven or God. (G509) It is the recognition of the
disciple to simply acknowledge that they are positioned in Covenant as
one in righteousness and rest on a daily, sometimes hourly basis, that they
live a life of praise and victory over the world. Covenant is the foundation
of living life in God and everything else is overflow.
“Verily, verily except a man is born again they cannot see the kingdom the
God.” So, the person who is born understands that living in God is the
beginning of walking in the kingdom of God.
The kingdom represents how the disciple begins to work with God to
continue in the ministry of reconciliation in the earth. It is a peculiar
thought to me how a person can preach the kingdom without the
understanding of what the kingdom is, which is being One with God in
Covenant. At the same time it is a peculiar thought to me how a person
30. can preach on dreams, visions, and prophecy without the understanding
of the message of Covenant. I am so happy that the Holy Spirit is
perfecting the things that concern His people and will accomplish His work
in the earth and the message of Covenant will cover the earth.
Much of the church doctrine in Christianity as we know it in Modern Times
is coming into the acknowledgement of the kingdom age, yet without the
message of Covenant most of the teachings on kingdom are second hand
rather than the revelation of Jesus and His work to establish Covenant
through the ministry and work of the Father of reconciliation.
31. Being Established in Covenant
So, as we close our time together in these pages we have learned that it is
through the “Four sides of the cross” that the disciple is one with God.
Being one with God is living a Life of Covenant, as Covenant represents
being one in the Divine Exchange—continually of Life.
John 3:16 says, “For God so loved the world that He gave His only
begotten Son that whosoever believes in Him would never perish but will
have everlasting life.”
As we present the Good News of God’s plan of redemption it is my hope
that the message of Covenant can now be easily shared to those whom
God sends. I believe that the message of Covenant is the purpose of the
Old Testament and the New Testament as a fulfillment of 2 Timothy 3:16,
“All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine,
for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness.”
Are we presenting the foundational Truths of Righteousness in the
representation that being one in Covenant automatically positions the
disciple in Righteousness? It is there that the simple acknowledgement of
of being positioned in Righteousness the disciple is trained to live there in
God’s Divine Union of Rest, with their whole being.
I am reminded of the greetings of the Apostle Paul to the church of Rome
in Romans 1. I would like to give a few insights from his writings to leave
with you today, in a verse by verse commentary. The thoughts that the
Apostle Paul shared are the same desire that every disciple of Covenant
should, as well.
Romans 1 Paul, a servant of Christ Jesus, called to be an apostle and set
apart for the gospel of God (Trinity) the gospel he promised beforehand
through his prophets in the Holy Scriptures regarding his Son, who as his
earthly life was a descendant of David and through the Spirit of holiness
32. was appointed the Son of God in power by his resurrection from the dead:
Jesus Christ our Lord.
Through him we received grace and apostleship to call all the Gentiles to
the obedience that come from faith for his name’s sake. And, you also are
among those Gentiles who are called to belong to Jesus Christ. To all in
Rome who are loved by God and called to be his holy people: Grace and
peace to you from God our Father and from the Lord Jesus Christ.
Secondly, I want you to notice that the Apostle Paul mentioned that their
faith had gone around the world, and that Grace was already recognized
to be something that the Apostle Paul would freely desire to increase to
the saints in Rome. Here, we learn that the message of faith and grace are
not the center of his desire to go to Rome, nor is the message of faith and
grace the center of the message of the Gospel he desired to go to Rome to
speak on.
As we continue to read Paul’s longing to visit Rome we see something
amazing here as he greets them.
Verse 8 First, I thank my God through Jesus Christ for all of you, because
your faith is being reported around the world.
At first glance we see the Apostle Paul mention that he has recognized
that their faith is reported around the world. My thought about this
statement is that “If the message of faith already went around the world,
even in the early church age of the Apostle Paul, then the message of faith
is not the message of the Gospel that was prophesied for the coming of
the Lord Jesus Christ.
As we continue to read the Apostle’s greeting to the church of Rome in
verse 9 we read, God whom I serve in my spirit in preaching the gospel of
his Son, is my witness how constantly I remember you in my prayer at all
times and I pray that now at last God’s will the way may be opened for me
to come to you.
33. Here, we begin to read why the Apostle Paul wanted to come to the
church of Rome, beginning in verse 11.
I long to see you that I may impart to you some spiritual gift to make you
strong, that is, that you and I may be mutually encouraged by each other’s
faith.
The answer begins to unravel in the writings of the Apostle Paul to reveal
his desire: to impart a spiritual gift, in which up to this time there was no
knowledge about. The question is, “What is the spiritual gift that the
Apostle Paul wanted to impart?” It was not the gift of faith and how it
operates, nor was it the gift of grace.
Verse 13 I do not want you to be unaware, brothers and sisters, that I
planned many times to come to you (but have been prevented from doing
so until now) in order that I might have harvest among you, just as I have
had among other Gentiles.
I am obligated both to the Greeks and the non-Greeks, both to the wise
and the foolish. That is why I am so eager to preach the gospel also to you
who are in Rome.
Verse 16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of
God that brings salvation to everyone who believes: first to the Jew, then
the Gentile. For in the gospel the righteousness of God is revealed—a
righteousness that is by faith from the first to the last, just as it is written:
“The righteous will live by faith.”
So, the gift that the Apostle wanted to impart was to establish them: build
them upon the proper, firm, unshakable foundation of the Gospel. Here,
the gift to impart was “The righteousness of God” and “How the
righteousness of God will be the new way to live by faith.”
You see, the Apostle Paul knew a disciple already had faith and the
message and exploits of faith went around the world. However, the
message of faith alone is not the message that would establish the
converted disciple in spiritual foundations. The gift that was missing was
34. the revelation of the righteousness of God.
It is through Covenant, the Life of being One in the finished works of the
cross established in the life of the disciple that the Father made the
disciple one, through Jesus. It is in that moment the disciple became the
righteousness of the Father, through Jesus.
Each time the disciple recognizes in their daily life that they are One in the
Father, this same disciple automatically glorifies Jesus and Jesus glorifies
the Father. At the same time the Father established the spiritual gift of
Righteousness through Jesus, but caused Righteousness to be a reality and
made alive by the Holy Spirit.
The Holy Spirit takes of the Father to give to the disciple through Jesus,
because of Blood Covenant. At the same time, each time the Holy Spirit
takes of the Father to give to the disciple through Jesus, the Father is
glorified by the Son.
To be glorified represents the idea of being One, in Covenant in which the
record of Covenant bears Truth and is Faithful. The Apostle Paul said, “I
love that you faith has gone around the world. I love the grace that was
given to me to be an apostle, but it is the Righteousness of God that
establishes a disciple to live in testifies of God. (Faith)”
