1. 1. What is copyright and what does
it protect?
Copyright is something which protects original work meaning that if you take a photo or a
piece of work that is yours as in you took the photo or you wrote the work, putting your name
or a company logo onto the work means that the photo or the work is yours and it cannot be
taken or used by anyone else unless it is authorised by the owner first as it is illegal.
Here is a list of a few things that copyright protects:
• Music
• pantomimes and choreographic work.
• pictures, graphic, and sculptural pieces.
• motion pictures sound recordings;
• architectural work.
2. 2. How can you use ‘Copyright Hub’ to get permission to
use images?
The organisations who run ‘Copyright Hub’ can help you get permission to use an image from
the person who holds the copyright, thye can do this for photographer and things along those
lines but if the photo ypu have found has not been copyrighted they can give you the right you
use the photo on they're behalf, as long as you do not claim the photo to be your own.
3. What are the organisations that you can contact to gain
access to use images legally?
• Getty Images
• The British Association of Picture Libraries and Agencies
• The British Broadcasting Corporation
3. I found this image on google of a the inside of a horses foot when they have laminitis, when I
saved the picture is said ‘ Laminitis - Wikipedia, the free encyclopediaen.wikipedia.org ‘ next to
the image but I still pasted the image into Copyright Hub to see if their was an owner as there
wasn’t a owner of this photo, so if I wanted to use this image I would have to send it to copyright
hub and they would find me the owner of the image in order for me to use it.
4. Place your found image
on this slide and state how
you will get permission
from the copyright
owner,
using licensing hub
Remember to cite the name of the copyright owner on the
image
