The Art Gallery
General Description
 Art gallery offers work of artists to be sold on
commission basis
 It offers work of 100 artists and sells almost 1ooo pieces
each year
 About 5000 customers have purchased pieces from
gallery
 Staff consists of gallery owner, Alan Hughes, and four
sales associatives
Basic Operation
o When an artist wishes to sell one or more works, he or
she contacts the gallery.
o The owner visits the artist’s studio and selects the
works to be sold through the gallery
o Working with the artist to set an asking price for each
piece
o The gallery splits the commission with salesperson
who makes the sale
o Gallery promotes the works through advertisement
such as newspaper and other media
Information needs
All data relating to artists, unsold works, sales and
customers is kept in separate files

Sales performance report : list report starting
