What is SEO?
SEO stands for “search engine optimization.” In
simple terms, it means the process of improving
your site to increase its visibility when people
search for products or services related to your
business in Google, Bing, and other search
engines. The better visibility your pages have in
search results, the more likely you are to garner
attention and attract prospective and existing
customers to your business.
How does SEO work?
Search engines such as Google and Bing use bots
to crawl pages on the web, going from site to
site, collecting information about those pages
and putting them in an index. Next, algorithms
analyze pages in the index, taking into account
hundreds of ranking factors or signals, to
determine the order pages should appear in the
search results for a given query.
Why is SEO important for marketing?
SEO is a fundamental part of digital marketing
because people conduct trillions of
searches every year, often with commercial
intent to find information about products and
services. Search is often the primary source of
digital traffic for brands and complements other
marketing channels. Greater visibility and
ranking higher in search results than your
competition can have a material impact on your
bottom line.
How do I request Google to
crawl my site?
Step 1: Is My Site Indexed Already?
The easiest way to check this is to
search site:yourdomain.com in Google. If
Google knows your site exists and has
already crawled it, you’ll see a list of
results.
Step 2: Install and Set Up Google Analytics &
Search Console
If you’re not already familiar with these free Google tools, here’s a quick breakdown.
Google Analytics: Measures stats about your website like
visitors, time spent on site, what pages they looked at, where
they’re from, etc.
Google Search Console (formerly known as Google
Webmaster Tools): It allows you to monitor different
aspects of your website like when it was last crawled,
any indexing errors, security issues, etc.
Search Console also lets you manage some key aspects
of how you appear in search results and manually
submit sitemaps
What is keyword with example?
Keywords are the words and phrases that
people type into search engines to find
what they're looking for. For example, if
you were looking to buy a new jacket, you
might type something like “mens leather
jacket” into Google. Even though that
phrase consists of more than one word, it's
still a keyword.
The Four Types of Keywords
Informational keywords — searchers looking for
an answer to a specific question or general
information.
Navigational keywords — searchers intending to
find a specific site or page.
Commercial keywords — searchers looking to
investigate brands or services.
Transactional keywords — searchers intending
to complete an action or purchase.
What is short tail keywords in SEO?
Short tail keywords are search terms that
are made up of no more than three
words. They refer to very broad topics
rather than specific ones. For example,
“running shoes” is an example of a short
tail keyword while “best running shoes for
winter” is an example of a long tail
keyword
What is a long tail keyword examples?
Long tail keywords are search phrases with
longer word counts. Their length makes them
more specific than searches with fewer words.
“Buy breathable running socks” (4 words) is an
example of a long tail keyword, whereas “buy
socks” is a short tail keyword.
