Ministry Purpose: To live my life in a
manner that points people toward God. I want all that I
do and say to inspire people towards having a close
relationship with God. My passion is to help students
realize life doesn’t have to be so hard. As students
struggle to find identity I want to help them find their
identity in Christ instead of in the things the world says
to find identity in. When they find their identity in Christ,
the trials they face won’t cause such drastic behavior
that is associated with that age group.

About Myself and Family
Growing Up
I was blessed to grow up in a household where going to church was encouraged. As far back as
I can remember, my mom and dad would take me and my brother to Sunday school and they
would attend church, but it wasn’t an every week occurrence until I was about twelve. At that
point we started attending a nondenominational church. When I was thirteen years old I
remember hearing a message from our youth pastor at a midweek program. After my mom
picked me up, I remember talking through a lot of questions I was wrestling with about Jesus
and Salvation. After we talked in length, I made a decision to make Jesus the Lord of my life.
Also, in the summer of that same year I was baptized. We attended that church for three years
weekly, and then the pastor had a moral stumble, at which point he was removed from
leadership, and as a consequence many people stopped attending. Due to the fact that many of
my friends stopped attending I didn’t place a high importance on attending church anymore. It
wasn’t until I was about 22 that I really saw and took seriously what it says in Matthew 7:23,
which is where the name of my website comes from. In fact, when I look back, I wonder if I was
a follower of Christ. I had no problems or hesitation confessing Him as my Savior but my living
did not show He was Lord of my life; I still liked doing what I wanted and didn’t consider His
desires for me. I focus now every day to consider Christ in everything and ask for His guidance
in my daily life!
Calling
After graduating High School in 2005, the immediate path was to attend the local community
college because that was “the plan,” even though there was no hint of direction for what the
future held. Since there was no clear direction, business administration became my major
because this was something that came natural and easy. After graduating from ASU in 2010
with a degree in business administration, the next step was to begin applying for jobs. After
applying for upwards of 50 jobs over 12 months with only a handful of calls and even fewer
interviews, God began to stir that these “jobs” wouldn’t lead to joy. In 2012, it became apparent
that God was prompting me to go back to school, this time however, to choose a major that
brought joy and passion. A little later in that year, with God’s promptings, I went back to school
for my Master’s degree, in order to pursue a career that would bring joy and passion. Although
this time it was a little clearer why more schooling was needed, it still was not “crystal clear.” To
better get a clear grasp on my call to ministry, I decided to volunteer in student ministries. After
starting volunteering three years ago, it is clear that my passion lies with students. It is
imperative to explain to them that they don’t have to, like my thinking was at that age, wait until
they reach a certain age to have life transforming faith in Jesus. They can have it now!
Family
I met my wife in June 2009 and we were married in July 2010. I will never doubt that God
always has our best intentions at heart because of who I am married to. I always love to tell
about my wife because I can’t help but reflect on how good God is, and how He cares about us
even when we are not looking to Him. My wife grew up in a non-churched, agnostic home.
When we met, our second date was to church because she was searching for truth as an adult.
After she came to faith in Jesus, her passion was the catalyst to me re-examining how I was
living in regards to following Christ. Day in and day out she is a Proverb 31 woman! Even
though I wasn’t seeking the woman God wanted me to be with, He still put the woman I needed
in my life. She is a shining example of what it means to be a supportive and caring wife, and
makes an effort to be involved with what I am passionate about! Also, when I got married, I
became the father to a five year old little girl, and it has been such a blessing to witness God
growing her into a respectful, God-following young lady.
