I am hungry for success, I have a thirst for knowledge and I have a desire to improve, lead
and learn from my mistakes. I am not a quitter; I relish challenges and use my initiative
wherever I can. I am currently studying for an Honours degree in Civil and coastal
engineering [BEng], but I fully intend to advance to MEng if I can and become a chartered
engineer after graduation. In my efforts to achieve this I have joined the university`s Civil
engineering society.

Communication: Working on site alongside external contractors I had to negotiate with
them over access, use of space and the most effective/quickest way of performing tasks.
2. I assist as a coach at my local Fencing club and thoroughly enjoy teaching the various
techniques and passing on my experience to others, I am also Treasurer of the University of
Plymouth Fencing Club and I am also the clubs` representative on the county`s Fencing
Union and frequently have to address meetings of club and committee members as well as
liaise with the Students` Union.
Team work and leadership: Moving static caravans into position in a confined space to avoid
damage to the properties on the site and avoid injury of bystanders, demolishing a house
for a local Builder, I had to rely on my negotiation skills and my understanding of the needs
of others to allow the job to be done quickly and safely.
Problem solving: designing my Autocad and Revit models at university required a
combination of patience, lateral thinking and hard work.
Additional skills: I amproficient at Microsoft office and the use of surveying equipment.
Achievements and interests:
Every summer since I could remember I have helped run the family business. I have
travelled around the world. I am addicted to Fencing and have represented both Devon and
the South West region at competitions at home and abroad. I have a full, clean UK driving
licence and am legally qualified to tow a three and a half tonne trailer.
