Diving in India
seahawksscuba.livejournal.com/3790.html
The open water diver course is a certification-level program that allows you to dive up to
18 meters of dive depth. The following 15 confined water skills are crucial to learn and to
make you a confident and comfortable diver. Learn scuba diving in India and get
professional assistance to learn to dive.
1. Alternate air source
Using the right hand, get your buddy’s attention, Signal ‘OUT OF AIR’ and locate Buddy’s
alternate air source. Remove your regulator, and never hold your breath. Switch to your
buddy’s alternate air source and purge, Take slow deep breaths. Establish firm contact
with your buddy and signal for the surface, and raise your low-pressure inflator hose.
Hold the position for 30 seconds, cut skill and switch back to the personal regulator.
Remember, never hold your breath, replace and purge your regulator.
2. Controlled emergency swimming ascent
Raise the inflator hose and extend your right arm. Look towards your direction and take a
few deep breaths in. Signal 'OUT OF AIR' and start your swim. Breathe out continuously
and swim at a rate of 18m per minute for 9m.
3. Equipment remove and replace
Empty air from your BCD. Run your hand from your chin to the first release. Undo the
chest release and repeat the next release. Detach the waist release and repeat once
again to release the waist cummerbund. Don't remove your weight belt. Loosen both
shoulder straps partially remove your left arm through the strap ensuring wrist computers
don't get caught with your right hand.
Grasp BCD from the rear now, completely remove your left arm and pull BCD to your right
knee. Maintain a firm bite on your regulator, now remove your right arm. Now replace the
equipment, Feed your right arm back through the right strap. The right hand now holds
the BCD, swing BCD behind your back and stretch out the inflator hose. Feed your left
arm through the left strap and join the waist cummerbund. Reach for your shoulder straps
and tighten them by firmly pulling on the D rings. Locate the waist release and click
together, repeat for the chest release.
Four things not to forget
Return air pressure gauge
Check inflator hose is not caught
The shoulder dump valve is still accessible
2/4
The alternate air source is secure
4. Fin Pivot
Empty air from your BCD and then lean forward and lay flat. Remember don't bend your
knees, extend your legs straight. Locate your low-pressure inflator and add a small
amount of air. Take a slow deep breath in and out, still negatively buoyant. Add another
small amount of air to your BCD, repeat breaths and inhale to rise then exhale to fall to
achieve neutral buoyancy.
5. Free Flowing Regulator
Empty air from your BCD. Take slow deep breaths in then remove the regulator and hold
it close to your mouth. Tilt your head to the side, cautiously 'sip' air from the free-flowing
regulator. Skill ended, replace and purge regulator and continue breathing.
6. Hover (Low-pressure inflator)
Empty air from your BCD. Locate your low-pressure inflator and add a small amount of air
to your BCD. Take slow deep breaths and add a little more air. Continue slow deep
breaths if you still feel not quite right then add another small amount of air to your BCD.
Repeat breaths, good practice to cross your legs, and breathe normally to help keep
neutral buoyancy. No assisting buoyancy with your arms or legs. Hold your inflator hose
and look at a reference. Continue normal breaths to end skill, raise your inflator hose and
deflate BCD.
7. Hover (Oral Inflation)
Empty air from your BCD. Locate your oral pressure inflator and take a deep breath in
and remove the regulator. Hold the regulator but never hold your breath, hold the oral
inflator button, and blow into the mouthpiece. Take a few deep breaths if you still do not
feel quite right. Repeat the process, never hold your breath. Repeat breaths, good
practice to cross your legs. Breathing normally will help keep neutral buoyancy and no
assisting buoyancy with your arms or legs. Hold your inflator hose and look at a reference
to the end skill. Raise your inflator hose and deflate BCD.
8. Mask Remove And Replace
Pinch the top skirt of your mask and slowly allow water to flood your mask. Take breaths,
remove the mask and don't let it go. Take calm breaths, use your thumb to find the mask
nose pocket, locate the strap and snorkel. Replace the mask, ensure hair is free from the
skirt and the strap is not twisted. Take deep breaths in, press against the top of your mask
and look down. Raise your head while blowing from the nose to end the skill.
9. No Mask Swim
3/4
Empty all air from your BCD. Pinch the top skirt of your mask and allow it to slowly flood
completely. Take a few slow breaths, remove your mask and make sure don't drop your
mask. Before you swim, locate the low pressure inflator and add a small amount of air to
help buoyancy. Start your swim, continue to breathe calmly then settle back down. Locate
the low-pressure inflator and empty any air. Using your thumb, find the mask nose pocket
and locate the mask strap and snorkel. Replace your mask, and ensure hair is not caught
in the mask skirt and the mask strap is not twisted. Take a few deep breaths, push
against the top of your mask and look down and lift your head while exhaling from the
nose to end the skill.
10. Partial mask flooded
Pinch the skirt of your mask and allow water to partially flood your mask. Take breaths,
press against the top of your mask and look down. Raise your head while blowing from
your nose to complete the skill.
11. Regulator clearing (Blast)
Method 1. Breathe in, remove the regulator facing it down. Remember to never hold your
breath, replace the regulator and blow to purge water. Continue slow cautious breathing
to end the skill.
12. Regulator Recovery (Purge)
Method 2. Breathe in, remove the regulator facing it down and remember to never hold
your breath. Replace the regulator and press to purge water. Continue slow cautious
breathing to end the skill.
13. Regulator Recovery (Reach)
Firstly, breathe in and remove the regulator facing it down. Remember to never hold your
breath, drop the regulator behind your head With your left hand. Reach for your cylinder
base, and lift using your right hand. Find the regulator hose, and trace to the regulator,
replace and purge by pressing the regulator. Continue slow cautious breathing to end the
skill.
14. Regulator Recovery (Sweep)
Method 1: Breathe in and remove the regulator facing it down. Remember to never hold
your breath, extend your right arm, and lean to your right. Right hand touch your knee,
follow your leg, touch your cylinder, and sweep to the front. Clap hands, left hand follows
down right arm. Find the regulator and replace the purge by pressing the regulator.
Continue slow cautious breathing to end the skill.
15. Weight Belt Remove And Replace
4/4
Empty all air from your BCD. Raise your right knee, using your left hand. Hold the loose
end of your weight belt with your right hand. Release your weight belt buckle and then
firmly hold the weight belt. Release only your left hand and let your weight belt drop. Hold
the weight belt close to your body, and feed the weight belt behind your back. Collect the
buckle with your left hand, hold it firmly and lean your body forward and then feed the belt
through the buckle and tighten. Make sure your BCD is free from your belt and that is all
okay to end the skill.
