My role(s) were responsible for ensuring that the printing plants were compliant with legislation,
company policy and sharing good practice. I also undertook Audits at each site which included
analysing risk management systems and producing action plans, with recommendations involving
regular contact with MD’s and Operational Management.
On a daily basis I was responsible for advising all employees on all pertinent health & safety
topics. This could vary from advising or assisting in the completion of CoSHH and risk
assessments to the legal requirements of emergency exit s in the Fire Legislation. This required a
flexible and dynamic approach to problem solving and an ability to communicate effectively,
implementing a practicable solution to ensure compliance with the relevant legislation and

Key Achievements
Introduced of new safe systems of work including a standardised permit to work system for
the group as well as production of training materials with the emphasis on raising awareness
of health and safety, reducing accidents and the potential for claims. Year on year there was
a 16% reduction in accidents throughout the division c850 staff.
I became the knowledge centre for all safety matters across JP. This was achieved by
identifying best practice, facilitating knowledge transfer, reviewing and developing JP’s group
standards and policies.
Produced Fire Risk Assessments across the group to meet the requirements of legislation,
reviewed by local Fire and Rescue Service and the Insurers.
Introduced vehicle management with the loading bay and warehouse, with the key priority of
segregation of staff from vehicles and raising awareness, knowledge with staff and contractor
within that area.
