You have heard it before.
The leaders at MPW Industrial Ser-
vices talk about family. They talk about
technology. They talk about safety.
On July 28, when MPW broke ground
on its Technology Center, that talk
became a $10 million commitment to
the company’s own future.
“The technology building marks a new
era for MPW,” said founder and CEO
Monte Black. “This groundbreaking is
a turning point for the company.”
The 76,000-square-foot facility will
include a two-story office building and
a one-story fabrication center on the
company’s 46-acre campus in Hebron.
The Technology Center will be built to
the east of the Corporate Building.
“Thirty years ago, Monte Black had the
foresight to select this 46-acre site to
build MPW’s first headquarters, in part
because it had room for growth,” said
Jared Black, MPW’s General Man-
ager of Industrial Water, Engineering
and Fabrication. “Since then, we have
added a Paint Shop, a Fabrication
Shop, a Corporate Office and a Train-
ing Facility.
“Technical innovation is a significant
competitive advantage and critical
element of our company’s future. This
new facility will enable us to accom-
modate our growing engineering and
IT teams with a goal of developing
new technologies faster and more
efficiently.”
Around the ground-
breaking tent,
MPW displayed a
hydro excavator,
a Supersucker
industrial vacuum
truck, video inspec-
tion equipment,
automated water
blasting equipment
and an ultrafiltra-
tion trailer, giving
guests a glimpse
of the company’s
industrial cleaning
and water-purifica-
tion capabilities.
Monte Black also
spoke about his
appreciation for the
former and current
MPW employees
who helped make
the new building
possible.
“I’d like to extend
my gratitude to all
3,000 employees who get up every
day and not only give the customers
what they expect, but a little more,”
Monte Black said. “That gives us the
opportunity to come back and do it
again.
“When you talk about how we got
here, it’s simple. We are gifted with a
lot of talented, engaged associates.
There are a lot of companies that have
talented people, but ours are engaged;
they go above and beyond the call
of duty. They do whatever it takes to
get the job done. They’re competitors.
They’re never satisfied. They want to
be better tomorrow than they are to-
day. So that’s what built this company.”

proximately 3,000 associates at 72 lo-
cations across North America, expects

Greg Armstrong,
after losing 45 pounds.
When faced with the news that they’re
not in condition to join their son on a
12-day hiking trip in New Mexico, many
fathers would respond with indifference
or even relief.
Not Greg Armstrong.
Instead, Armstrong, Business Develop-
ment Representative for MPW Industrial
Services’ Facilities Division, lost 45
pounds in about five months.
Armstrong wanted to join his 15-year-old
son, Andrew, and Andrew’s Boy Scout
troop on the outing to the Philmont
Scout Ranch in the Sangre de Cristo
range of the Rocky Mountains in north-
ern New Mexico. The ranch operates 34
staffed camps and 55 trail camps.
Philmont’s rough terrain includes ele-
vations that range from 6,500 to 12,441
feet.
Due to the altitudes and the endurance
necessary for a backpacking excur-
sion of nearly two weeks, doctors told
Armstrong he would have to lose about
40 pounds to pass the physical, which is
mandatory before going on the trip.
Armstrong began his weight-loss routine
at the end of February. He walked 3
miles a day and limited his food intake
to around 2,300 calories a day. He used
a FitBit to track his steps and replaced
high-calorie, high-carb snacks with pro-
tein bars and Greek yogurt.
Unsatisfied with his progress, Armstrong
increased his walking routine to 6 miles
per day in April. At the end of May, Arm-
strong switched from a low-calorie diet
to a low-carbohydrate diet, which helped
him shed weight much more efficiently.
“My biggest motivation was to go on
the trip with my son,” Armstrong said. “I
made the same hike when I was 14 and
it was a great time. It helped me get up
early every day for a 45-minute walk and
then do the same thing at night.”
Armstrong, who will celebrate 22 years
with MPW in November, said he is com-
mitted to maintaining his healthy habits
when he returns from the hike.
“I’ve put a lot of hard work in and I don’t
want to let myself put the weight back
on.”
Armstrong and Andrew departed for the
Philmont Scout Ranch at the end of July.

Industrial Water buys site for new regen plant
GEORGETOWN, S.C. – MPW Industrial Services announced
in July the company will build an industrial water regeneration
plant here that is expected to begin operations next summer.
Company officials said the $10 million project is expected to
create 32 jobs during the next five
years.
“This new plant will enable us to
meet the needs of our growing
customer base in the Southeast,”
said Jared Black, general manager
for MPW’s Industrial Water division.
“In addition to being business friendly, Georgetown is a great
location because we can easily reach clients from Florida to
Alabama, all of whom depend on us for prompt and timely
service.”
MPW’s regeneration facilities serve clients within a 500-mile ra-
dius, restoring the exhausted resin from the company’s mobile
deionization systems back to an ionic form capable of purifying
more water. Clients requiring pure water for their processes
include the automotive, power generation, petrochemical and
refining, and pulp and paper
industries.
The Georgetown facility will be
MPW’s fifth regeneration plant.
The others are in Newark, Ohio;
Port Arthur, Texas; Sedalia, Mo.;
and Wilkes-Barre, Pa.
MPW has purchased a site at 373 Technology Drive, which is
in the Georgetown County Business Center. Construction is
expected to begin this fall.

MPW Industrial Services is now the proud
owner of this Kalmar DCD450-12CSG
Container Mover. Like most new equip-
ment at MPW, this forklift truck increases
the company’s capabilities in terms of both
safety and efficiency. This container mover
lifts up to 45 tons (90,000 pounds, or about
the same as 22 average cars) and stacks
up to five containers. Its engine is a su-
percharged, six-cylinder Cummins diesel
that provides high power and torque output
and still complies with EPA environmental
demands. This machine improves MPW’s
previous method of container lifting and
chassis loading, which involved three stan-
dard forklifts operating simultaneously.
MPW Industrial Services now offers X-Plan pricing
to its employees for eligible Lincoln and Ford
vehicles. This easy-to-use plan allows employees
to enjoy significant savings in addition to other
publicly offered programs.

MPW Industrial Services is now the proud owner of this Kalmar DCD450-12CSG Container Mover. Like most new equip- ment at MPW, this forklift truck increases the company’s capabilities in terms of both safety and efficiency. This container mover lifts up to 45 tons (90,000 pounds, or about the same as 22 average cars) and stacks up to five containers. Its engine is a su- percharged, six-cylinder Cummins diesel that provides high power and torque output and still complies with EPA environmental demands. This machine improves MPW’s previous method of container lifting and chassis loading, which involved three stan- dard forklifts operating simultaneously. MPW Industrial Services now offers X-Plan pricing to its employees for eligible Lincoln and Ford vehicles. This easy-to-use plan allows employees to enjoy significant savings in addition to other publicly offered programs. Visit www.fordpartner.com X-Plan Partner Code X-Plan pricing is established before you visit the dealer- ship, clearly marked on vehicle invoices and available in addition to most other publicly offered programs.
