3. Patch work by Scott Bernarde
I worked as a local editor, associate region editor and region editor in my five years with Patch.com (Sept. 2010-
Nov. 2015). Below are a number of hyperlinks to some of the news stories I wrote, edited and published while
with Patch. When I left Patch, I was a region editor solely in charge of 19 community news websites in North
Georgia.

5. On the Water Guides
In 2009-10, I
collaborated with a
longtime friend to
produce “On the
Water Fishing
Guides,” a take-
with-you
weatherproof aid
for outdoors
enthusiasts.
I wrote, edited and
designed the
product, as well as
similar products for
Phelps Innovations.
I utilized Adobe In-
Design, In-Copy and
Photoshop.

6. Editing & Planning
As an assignment editor in Sports, I
directed several special packages,
including preseason all-start in
football and basketball. In “Friday
Knights” (left), I coordinated the
photo shoot with Medieval Times.
In “Above & Beyond” (right), the
shoot included the top boys and
girls players on a trampoline.

I’ve enjoyed
opportunities to
incorporate alternative
story forms (examples
right). “Football Feast, “
which previewed football
games as if they were on
a Thanksgiving Day
menu. “Boys of Spring”
highlight local baseball
players playing in MLPB
spring training.
