Twelve lucky students will participate in a 10-week research and conservation expedition in Charlotteville, Tobago focusing on turtles, amphibians, lizards, and bats. Tobago is a small, hilly and volcanic island that is part of Trinidad and Tobago and home to diverse wildlife including 210 bird species. Past expeditions have involved beach patrols and data collection to aid turtle conservation, frog population studies, and research on invasive cane toads and fish populations. Participants will stay in beach cottages and meals will be provided for a cost of approximately £600.

• 210 species of bird
• 17 mammals
• 5 marine turtles

• 24 snake (NONE VENOMOUS)

4. Projects from previous expeditions include:
• Beach patrols to aid in the conservation of turtles, data
collection from nesting females, nests and hatchlings
• Frog research including population studies such as
distribution and abundance
• Recording new data on endemic
frog species
• Studying ectoparasites of the
invasive cane toads
• Study of fish populations in
relevance to different river
profiles.

along the beach
• Food: meals largely provided
for on expedition budget
• Cost: approximately £600 for flights, your sweet time
and some elbow grease.
• Requirements: Passion for all things zoological, a
reasonable level of fitness and a sense of adventure.
