Pop-Up Frankenstein Book Review
1. My name is ______________________________________________
and I am in Form 5 Mutiara from SMK Warisan Puteri. Today, I would
like to share with you a very interesting book I read entitled Pop-Up
Frankenstein. The original story is written by Mary Shelly. This book
was first published by Walker Books in 2010.
In my opinion, this book is special because not only is the story
interesting but the way it is presented is also awesome. Besides, this
is a pop-up book.
The story of Frankenstein is an old horror classic about a scientist
who creates a monster, and the awful events he unintentionally
causes. The main character, Victor Frankenstein is a hard-working
young man at university who discovers how to give life to a dead
body. He then creates a man-monster.
I enjoyed this book not only because of its fantastic graphics and
pop-up magic, but because it questions what it is to be human.
Despite that, I found the relationship between Frankenstein’s
monster and its creator fascinating.
Furthermore, I liked the fact that although Frankenstein sees his
monster as a brutal demon, the book lets us see the events from the
monster’s perspective. In addition, I like it when it was the monster
telling his story because I can sympathise with his loneliness. Though
he is a dead but alive monster and he has no friends. All the bad
things he did was because he was lonely. He even forced his creator
to create a wife for him but even though he agreed at first, in the
end Victor Frankenstein killed the woman in front of the monster.
This made the monster very angry and he left. He finally went to sea
and was never seen again.
2. It is amazing that this book came from the imagination of a 19-year-
old girl writing in the year 1818.
Overall ,I would rate this story 4/5 and I would highly recommend it
to anyone. I’m sure not only teenagers would enjoy it but adults
would appreciate it as well.
Thank you. I hope you enjoyed to my book review and one day you
will get the opportunity to read it.
