6. Assessment of results
achieved
Reading the pre-course material helped me to
switch my head into the multicultural mood
Common language (doing puzzle without words)
helped to get started
Ice breaking games helped us to know each
other
7. Observations
We shared many similarities within participants
(e.g. same background)
At first it was hard to get used to interpretation
To express myself completely in foreign language
is not easy
10. Competence used

Assessing training processes
ATTITUDES AND VALUES:
Personal presentation and image

Managing change and motivation
11. Assessment of results
achieved
When I was reading portfolios I saw different
methodological approaches and found out their
strengths and weaknesses
Importance of assessing training processes and
self evaluation
My assertiveness and communication skills are
important part of me even in the written materials
12. Observations
Remember to recognize and separate
assessments and results
Report is not e-portfolio; it must be more
personal and include own innovations - what I
can do whit this information and this experience
15. Competence used
KNOWLEDGE:
Awareness of the diversity of the TU movement
Understand the diversity of cultures across Europe
Understand the influence of culture in training
environment
SKILLS:
To manage diversity in a multicultural context
ATTITUDES AND VALUES:
Trade Union Values
Personal presentation and image
Respect of cultural diversity
16. Assessment of results
achieved
I need more experience about multicultural
trainings
Choosing my themes, exercises and pedagogical
methods according the group and knowing the
social background will be good for training
I must use more ice breaking games in my
trainings -> they help participants to know each
other
My personal presentation and image is different
depending on whether I’m using Finnish or some
foreign language
17. Observations
Don’t trust to stereotypes
Understanding trade union structure within
Europe and understanding different political
situations which affect the action of TU will help
in this work
To work in a transnational environment is fruitful
and I can learn new things about myself and my
own culture
Know your audience!

21. Assessment of results
achieved
I understood political situations which affect the action
of TU
I found out similarities and differences in trade union
trainings
I realized that trade union strategies and political,
social and cultural context influence to the training
systems and methods
In the future I need to modify and up-date my
trainings and materials more (depending on the
political situation, strategy, values, cultural diversity
within participants etc)
22. Observations
I got ideas to my own work
I noticed that our union is a little bit old-fashioned
in some pedagogical methods
Things that are going on in the European level
have affect on the national level as well -> follow
the news through the Europe
Networking and sharing ideas with my course
mates and working mates is essential; what
worked well, what need to be improved etc

28. Assessment of results
achieved (1)
We could have support each other better. We weren’t
working as a good team.
We could have set the aims better.
We should have built the sequences logically and so
it would have been easier to follow them.
Maybe we didn't’ give enough time for questions and
communication
We used different pedagogical methods to help in
debriefing the theme
29. Assessment of results
achieved (2)
I didn’t remember the continuous eye contact
within my team and my audience
I noticed that communication skills are very
important. And I noticed that I’m totally different
communicator in English than in my mother
language -> I must improve my English!
I learned about me by evaluating other groups
30. Observations
Me and my colleges - we need to learn working
as a team
Remember always what’s the connection
between aims and activities. Keep asking why
are you doing this and that.
It’s important to get and give feedback; I should
do the last one more in the future

33. Assessment of results
achieved (1)
I had three main expectations for the seminar: to
get new ideas, meet new people and improve my
English and I got them all.
The objectives stated by ETUI were high level
but I hope I met at least some of them
The various sequences of work were suitable for
me.
The most important programmes were training
session (including preparation, session and
feedback) and visit to GWU.
34. Assessment of results
achieved (2)
The least important was Yves’ lecture because I
knew almost everything already. But the lecture
also gave me power to do things differently in our
union.
I liked the methods, which were used in the
seminar, especially team work.
We had too little time to get to know each other
before the first group work
