great reviewer?
• Have you attended prior UPA conferences?
• Are you a UX professional or student?
• Have you reviewed before for UPA or another UX
industry conference?
• Choose to review subject areas of what you
know and love.
6. What makes a
great review?
• Share the positive about each review.
• Be as descriptive as possible in the critique.
• There is always a way to take the time to point out what IS
working and how to improve.
• If something is borderline, a review that goes into detail is
going to be much more useful (to the committee and the
author).
• While brief reviews are easier to write, they have more
potential for causing problems further down the pipeline.
7. What makes a great
review? (con’t.)
When reviewing submissions there are several key
questions to address such as:
• Is the content original or updated?
• Is the topic relevant?
• Will this benefit attendees (you)?
• Is the material presented clearly?
• Is the presenter qualified for this material?
• Would you choose this over all others to see?
