2. INTRODUCTION
In this modernized era due to lifestyle changes and
environmental hazards there is increase in the
number of genetic diseases, thus Ayurveda and
genetics if attempted in systemic manner along with
the upcoming technologies would be used to prevent
and cure various genetic disorders.
In Ayurveda different concepts related to
genetics like pakruti ,matrujadi shadbhavas and
beejabhaga avayava are described, along with this
our acharya`s had great knowledge about hereditary
and congenital diseases.
3. DISCUSSION
PRAKRUTI
• According to Ayurvedic system every individual is born
with his or her own basic constitution termed as Prakruti
• It is qualitative and quantitative unchangeable doshika
predominance from birth to death.
• Prakruti can be considered under genetic control as
prakruti is formed at the time of conception , it refers to
genetically determined physical and mental makeup of
the individual
• Prakruti is formed by the dosha(Doshas) which ever
becomes predominant at the time of conception i.e., at
time of union of sukra and sonita and inheritance is the
passage of hereditary traits from generation to the next.
9. DAUHRUDA KALA
• Other major cause explained in Ayurveda, is
ignorance of longings of pregnant woman present
during first trimester.
• In case some are ignored there may be
destruction or morbidity in fetus.
• The lady would deliver the child hump with
deformed hand, lame, dull, dwarf, with deformed
eyes or no eyes.

The part of body is damaged in its
genetic sources get abnormality, in that specific
parts and if there is not damaged in its genetic
sources there will not any abnormality.

13. CONCLUSION
The defects in prakuti, shadbhavas, garbha samagri will have direct
effect on growth and development of fetus with adverse effect on genes
which will lead to genetic disorders.
An elementary knowledge of principles of genetics is essential for
understanding the causation of several diseases, such knowledge also
help us understand how normal variations between individuals are
brought about and it also helps in establishing the molecular basis of
principles of Ayurveda.
These concepts thus reveals that we can find the genotypic and
phenotypic basis of Ayurveda and correlate it with basic sciences. If we
can establish the connection between these two
sciences, we can revolutionize the concept of “Personalized Medicine”.
It provides an integrative global approach
in the advancement of Ayurveda and creating novel approach in treating
patients.
