2. - The first generation of computers arrived between 1946 and 1958, at that time
the electronic technology was based on bulbs or vacuum tubes
The first electronic digital computer was called Electronic Numerical Integrator
and Computer (ENIAC) and was created in 1947 and was an experimental
machine. it was not the size of today's computers either
3. In 1949 the first
programmable
computer in history
called Electronic
Discrete Variable
Automatic Computer
(EDVAC) was invented,
this computer already
included the central
ideas of current
computers.
4. 2nd Computer Generation
From 1958 to 1965, within this generation the evolution of computers is quite
marked, that is, the difference is remarkable, so it also has its characteristics. This
system was not very effective because the information was constantly lost
because the magnetic drum had no protective layer 1) .- The bulbs are replaced
by transistors. 2) .- Decrease the physical size of computers by approximately 50%.
3) .- The quality control of the air conditioning also decreases. 4) .- The
programming is internal and all the process programs can be supported. 5) .- The
operating speed is microseconds. 6) .- In software (High Level Languages)
5. - 3rd Generation:
From 1965 to 1970, within this generation the
physical size of the computer is reduced to the
maximum and has the following
characteristics: 1) .- The transistor is replaced
by the microtransistor. 2) .- It decreases from
60 to 70% the physical size of computers. 3) .-
The quality control of the air conditioning also
decreases. 4) .- The memory follows internal
by means of magnetic cores. 5) .- The process
speed is still microseconds. 6) .- In software
(Operating System)
6. 4th Generation:
It comprises from 1971 to 1980, within this
generation the physical size of the computers is
reduced from 80 to 90% and they have the
following characteristics: 1) .- The
microtransistor is replaced by integrated circuits
which have the function of 64 microtransistors .
2) .- The quality control of the air conditioning is
nil or almost nil. 3) .- The process speed is nano-
seconds 1X10-9. 4) .- Multiprogramming and
local and remote teleprocessing work. 5) .- In
software (LISP, PROLOG)
7. 4th : They will be made with microcircuits of very high integration, that
will work with a high degree of parallelism and emulating some
characteristics of the neural networks with which the human brain works.
2) Computers with Artificial Intelligence 3) Interconnection between all
types of computers, devices and networks (integrated networks) 4)
Integration of data, images and voice (multimedia environment) 5) Use of
natural language
